If they think he is ready, I am all for it. If they are rushing his timeline because Brissett is a disaster, I think it is stupid.

Don't rush him so the Pats can win a few more games in a lost season. That is just silly.

But they feel he has gotten his footwork down, understands how to read defenses at the NFL enough, etc. then playing him will be worth it for his development.

Sitting him or playing him, my opinion is the same. The #1 priority this year is his development. Wins and losses are irrelevant.

I would rather get a haul like Chicago got from Carolina. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s any QB that has separated himself. I’ve looked at a lot of mocks and they’re all over the place. I’ve seen guys like Sanders, Beck, Milton at #1 overall and mid to late first in others. Maybe, that will change.

That's often fluid at this point. There's still over half a season of college football left. Then the playoffs and bowls. Then all the combine madness. By the time the draft rolls around there is usually consensus number one.

I doubt this has anything to do with Peppers. If they are rushing him into the line up before he is ready, it is solely because the offense is crap and largely because of Brissett. An average QB would have won on Sunday. A below average QB would have won on Sunday.

I am excited to see Maye play, but I am more excited (or more hopeful) that I am watching him starting for the Pats in 2034 and competing for Super Bowls. And I am willing to sacrifice any excitement this year for this.

If they benched him because they want to trade him, they'll get nothing for him either way.

If they benched him because Bourne came back, it's a silly scheme fit. Bourne isn't fast.

It's most likely they benched him because the offense looks like trash and they needed someone to blame. They couldn't pass deep, so playing a deep ball WR made no sense... but they should give Maye some toys to play with.

Play Demario, Thornton and whomever they want at possession WR, they have a bunch of redundant ones. But give him Demario in the slot and Thorton running deep... play the WR's you had starting through the first month and start over.
