Bedard's source says Maye isn't ready to start and there are things with the offense that he is "working through"

If true and he needs so much time to be ready, was it really worth taking him at 3.

Could have traded with Minnesota and had 11 and 23 picks and taken McCarthy and and Xavier Legette.

Drake Maye is NOT a can't miss generational talent. McCarthy or Penix just as good if not better, as both are more NFL ready.

You need some company Sam, misery isn’t supposed to be alone.

Great job Sam, unlike the knee jerk idiots you at least gave the rookie QB’s time to develop and show what kind of players they can become. And you’re right, both McCarthy and Penix are off to huge starts. McCarthy in particular is going to put up huge numbers this season, he’s a sure fire Hall of Famer. And even though you said you wanted Maye back in the spring it’s commendable that you could come off that stance and see him for the bust he truly is. Great work as always Sam.

When was this post written? Two Months ago?

This is BS. The dude outplayed Brissett in the preseason which really didn’t take much.

He’ll be playing soon.
After watching Jacoby Brissett so far this season, you think he qualifies as a starting QB in the NFL? Obviously not. Even if he did outplay Jacoby -- very small sample size, by the way -- that doesn't make him ready to start. Besides, what's the rush? Are the Pats making a playoff drive this season with the talent and coaching they have? Why risk injury and/or shattering his confidence behind a garbage OL?

Start Milton!!

If Maye "isn't ready", start Milton! He is better than Jacoby. He has the ability to run. If they wanted to win games, they would start Milton.

Just imagine another home loss against Miami. The immense pressure the organization would be under.
I really don't think we'll have to wait long to see Drake Maye play. The OL and their decision to carry two QBs makes it inevitable. They will be the luckiest franchise in the NFL this year if JB makes it through the season.

You have a great point. I've said personally that Brissett is happy to be a starting QB in the NFL he knows if he goes out through game for any injury he's likely not getting the job back.

It's like Joe Milton doesn't exist.
He pretty much doesn't. I don't see a scenario where they can leap frog Maye and put in Milton where it doesn't create a controversy. Not too mention he was even further behind Maye at the end of camp in learning the offense.

So are they carrying two QB's like you said or three?

I'm thinking Jacoby would have to have an injury like an ACL or shoulder something where he absolutely can't go.. I can bet you he plays through Injury now becuase he knows if Drake gets in he is back where he belongs.
Now there's a thought. What if he has been playing through something, but has gamely kept his mouth shut about it? He knows he may never start again once he misses a single game.

Your on to something... I'm leaning more and more on that to be the case. For example he was a backup to Howell last season and now Howell is a back up.. I believe these 2 things happened.

1) wolf, Mayo and avp were all on board with Jacoby because they felt he was a steady veteran and would give solid play while developing Drake.

2) the organization didn't anticipate Drake would be this ready. Thus he won the camp competition and making him the back up is in thier minds rewarding him.

Brissett struggled all preseason we should have expected this heading into the season.

You need to take the human factor into account. How's Drake going to feel when a fellow rookie who isn't nearly is good as he is gets named starting QB over him? A competitor like Drake isn't going to stand for that. "Oh Drake, we're just trying to protect you!" Nah, not going to fly. If they do it, Drake's tenure in NE will be off to a terrible start.

I don't understand what you're asking or what your point is?
You said they Pats are carrying two QB's (go back and look at the quote from your post I'm responding to). They aren't. They're carrying three.

I wouldn’t worry about that. There is zero chance Milton will be named starter if Maye is healthy.

Agreed. Question for you? I'm trying to decipher this. Who controls the roster mayo? Wolf? Groh? Becuase it list all 3 are in control.

I said he pretty much doesn't exist I didn't say he isn't taking a roster spot and then I explained my point by saying there is no way you can go to him before Maye.
