Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Its doubtful that the Pats would have won with Maye instead of Brisset.

If Maye lost the people here would be yelling for Brisset.

It's not about winning. It's about the reps.

Maye earned the job and was kept from it. That's on Mayo. It's Mayo job to get these players ready.

Dorsey got fired because they promoted Veach who pushed Reid to take Mahomes. Reid brought in Veach from Philly.
You asked for examples of the GM being fired but HC staying.

It happens frequently in the NFL. Usually because the HC has the owners ear.

Mayo said Brisset won the starting job.

I was just pointing out that was a unique situation.

Someone to look at is Dan Campbell. He took over a traditionally very bad Lions team. They were 5-11 the year before he was hired. In his first year, they got WORSE, going 3-13-1. Then 9-8. Then 12-5 and in the NFCCG.

It looks bad right now, and it may continue to be. But year one has to be the program reset year. If there's no improvement in year two, you re-evaluate.
The aspect to look at is continuity and carry over. We talk about most rookies needing at least one (if not two) years to truly find their role, their fit, and to what level they can contribute. Coaching staffs are the same way. This also allows for certain variables to change allowing for a much wider depth of analysis.

Year one is establishment and familiarization...although there can be trends both positive and negative to examine. Year two, the majority of the team is now familiar so outsiders (FAs, rookies) have a wide range of people to emulate/follow and systemic integration is faster (again whether positive or negative).

I think this is why Kraft has shown a set three year evaluation process before firing because he realizes if it's blown up in year one there is no insta-fix - the process resets and starts all over again. The entire team goes back to zero...new buy-in, new familiarization, new roles and responsibilities, etc.

Mayo said Brisset won the starting job.

He said that Maye outplayed him and he did. So if Mayo said that Jacoby won the starting job then that's another lol on his resume already.

No one actually believes he won that job or that Mayo thinks that either.

Jets? Rex stayed and Tanny got fired.
Browns? Stefanski stayed and Dorsey fired.
Chiefs? Reid stayed and Dorsey was fired.
Yup. Normally GM hires coach and after a year or two coach wins the power struggle over the GM.

I doubt Kraft would fire Mayo after one season, then he’s admitting he made a big mistake. Since AVP is most likely Wolfs hire, I can see Mayo convincing Kraft that AVP has to go after one season. Maybe Nick Caley would be ready to come back as OC after a couple years with the Rams.

5 offensive coordinators in 5 years is deeply unserious too.

You need to prove your better than the last team. Not worse. Bill had the leash due to his success. What does Mayo have?
When I present the point that Mayo is not qualified to be an NFL HC, let alone The Patriots HC (especially right after B.B.), no one can seem to give me a good reason.

A lot of coaches have had a rough first year and turned out ok, Dan Campbell comes to mind and it's not like Mayo was handed a loaded roster.
Campbell had more actual experience as an NFL Coach than Mayo had when he was made HC of Detroit.

Howie Roseman was Reids GM in Philly.

When Chip Kelly succeeded Reid and was hired as the Philly HC, he got Roseman fired.

How did Maye win the QB job when Brisset played in the new AVP offense? You make Maye sound like some guy better than Mahomes.

Maye is not ready. BB even stated that he had lots to learn about coverages.

Maye needs to get ready so I'm not sitting here next year with a built in excuse on a red shirted rookie QB who gives us a 3 and 13 season. It's unacceptable and I see right through it.

They want to hold on to their jobs by not raising the expectations.

Right, you have to give them time to see how they do, if the drafting is bad, it's on Wolf. It's not good when teams fire people year after year when they don't play well and don't have stability to carry out a plan.

he did but it looked bad at first and they stuck with him, Mayo won't get experience if they fire him, all coaches start out as rookie coaches and the good ones grow into the role.

You might have forgotten about the EVP of Football Business that RKK put in place to keep the train on the track.
Every football team needs an ownership mole to do their bidding and report back if any mean words are spoken. LOL

I have no problems with Pop Douglas voicing his displeasure with this Offense.
