Patriots Release TE Mulligan, OL Cave, Re-Sign FB Develin
New England made a couple of roster moves on Thursday, one of which was a little surprising considering he had just gotten here.
According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald the team released offensive Braxston Cave and tight end Matthew Mulligan.
For Mulligan it was a short stint, having only lasted two days with the football team. The former standout from the University of Maine had been a fun local story having been the third Maine native to play for the Patriots, joining Gardiner's Dave Cloutier (1964) and Biddeford's Dennis Gadbois (1987, 1988).
Unfortunately for Mulligan, it ended up being a short one.
Meanwhile Nick Underhill of MassLive is reporting that the team will bring back recently released fullback James Develin. Develin, 25, was released three days ago and also spent the majority of the 2012 season on the New England practice squad. He saw action in one game last season, which came in a loss to San Francisco on Dec. 16th, 2012.
