Thoughts on comments from coaching staff

Linemen are spinning around 360 degrees trying to figure out who to block. I highly doubt that's the way they coached it.

A good, experienced guard is a rookie tackle's best friend. Put Onwenu back at RG and start Wallace at RT. Mayo blindly putting Onwenu at RT like BB did last year is a sign of not understanding why your boss made certain moves. The circumstances on the OL are very different than last year.

Continuity doesn’t matter if the players suck. We don’t have continuity because we don’t have NFL caliber players.

Good players with out continuity is better than bad players with continuity
Belated response; but….

Scar I thought taught us a few things and my impression is he would take the counter to your position. Continuity & Teamwork (w appropriate coaching) can cover for a lack of talent.

That said; I also suspect he would mean it can make up for a lack of talent in 1 or 2 non-adjacent OLmen; not lack of talent (or health) in 3 or 4 out of 5 positions at the same time.

I would say continuity improves the unit no matter what, but if the players suck continuity isn’t going to make them good.

If we picked 5 good OL off random NFL teams and bright them in for a week they would form a better OL than the current slugs we have would after working together for a lifetime.

Are you guys drinking together?

I'll have you know @Clonamery is a very discerning drinker. He only imbibes on days ending in 'Y' and he occasionaly looks at the bottle first to make sure nobody is trying to slip him something French.

I did not like how Bill gave nothing to the media but Mayo goes too far the other way sometimes.

You don't need to get into that much detail on how you gave your players ****. He was a former player though so I am sure he knows how far he can push them and what is ok to share.
How has he gone too far? I haven't seen that at all. He's a hell of a lot more respectful than Bill and that's a good thing to me. I enjoy the HCs with a personality. And I really don't understand what a HC could give away by being open and honest with the media and fans.

Bill had his own way of holding players accountable for themselves. I don't have an issue with calling them out. But I do have an issue with not also taking responsibility. I know I've heard him say we need to coach better so I don't want to go too far. And I'm sure Mayo has a way of talking to his players one on one that I'm sure they take way more to heart then media comments.

Let's just say it was one thing that Bill was smart about. It almost always started with we have to coach better before he got into other things.

As long as Mayo has the ears of his players which I think he does at least for now, then this isn't a problem.
The guy's still learning to be a HC and he's starting with a very thin roster and no QB. He's probably going to take some lumps along the way.

That's the problem with Collaboration. They seem intent on working together so right now I think we are fine. But the more losing occurs and I'm talking a season or two it will only be natural for each to wonder if the other's mistakes held them back. And possibly worse than just wondering.
In my judgement the roster is so weak that the problem lies with the person responsible for picking the players.

Has nothing to do with the QB… our line is atrocious. It could get Maye killed. Starting him now would be pure stupidity.
After seeing the actual level of suckage on the OL I've come completely around on that. Now I'm just hoping that JB survives.

The best thing that probably could happen is JB went down and Drake came in.

Agreed.. followed reports the team offered judon 17 million he wanted 20 plus.. the team then said let's see you in camp in full pads first.. then the back n forth.. also judon did him no favors trying to negotiate on his own. We miss Barmore and judon badly... i felt like the secondary could create coverage sacks.. outside of gonzo there has been no resistance from the CBs.
Judon forced the team's hand with his antics. He had to go.

That’s the scary part, when Brissett gets hurt, which seems almost inevitable… Maye is the next man up to get hurt.
I really underestimated just how poor the protection is and that is indeed scary. At least we aren't playing Pittsburgh this year.

Yes Marcus and Jon are great athletes very fast and athletic.. but undersized and have to play out of position becuase Austin and wozzy's buddy Wilson can't play.. 6ft CBs wasted size can't even get on the field.

Butbutbut Jack Jones would be only the 6TH-best CB in the building…
