RUT ROW…

He played like crap yesterday, might be the thing Cleveland uses to dump him and get out of his contract.

The case goes back to 10/10/2020 in Houston, this time she is claiming sexual assault.

I'd love all the "cap doesn't exist" people to explain how Deshaun Watson's fully guaranteed contract and his 72.9 million dollar cap hit for the next two years won't be a hindrance... the dance party should be fantastic.

I am not a "cap doesn't exist" person but, having said that, Cleveland could convert his 2025 salary to signing bonus (just like they did this year) and that $72.9 MM hit becomes roughly $36 MM.

That obviously changes if they try to use this recent lawsuit to void his guarantees but the above is certainly what Cleveland had planned to do.

That's just raising cap numbers in future years though, that's how they got to this point by kicking the can down the road.

They're eventually going to have to pay the piper on that contract, it's a fully guaranteed contact they're going to pay all of that money.

Me thinks the timing of this is due to his **** performance so far. Either it’s a warning or they’re going to use it to dump/void.

Tony Buzbee be like...

Yes that's right. It is called "dead money" - and believe me, the current management aren't even remotely worried about dead money in 2027 because if they don't win some games right now, they aren't going to be around in 2027.

Kicking the can down the road also serves the purpose of lessening the cap hit in terms of percentage of the overall cap.

The dead cap hit to cut him next offseason if they do it early is close to 100M.

They can rework that and spread it out, but that's a massive chunk of money to eat.

And folks wonder why Browns fans are alcoholics.

I think with his deal and how things turned out plus the history of misery for this team proves someone at one time cast some serious hoobajoob on them. From criminal levels of incompetence to bad deals to everything else….they have a resume full of it. I’d say I feel bad for the fans but I guess it takes a special type of person to stick with them through it all…

I am sure the Browns Owner is going to release a statement saying Deshaun Watson is Very Good QB. I remember a poster here last year said something along the lines of Watson and the Cleveland Browns situation is not going to end well.

You might want to consider the totality of Watson's contract before you advise adding any of 2025's salary to the $73M he's guaranteed for 2026. Dead cap for Watson next year would be $173M.

Like I said..... management ain't concerned with dead cap because if they don't start winning soon, they ain't going to be there....

This has to be the end of his NFL career

That's a bit obtuse, when you're talking adjusting contracts of that size 'management' involves the owner and Jimmy Haslam isn't going to fire himself

Nah, he's got clauses in his contract for this very reason. Browns can void his contract and get out really cheap.

The cheap-ass criminal Browns ownership are doing the dance of joy today.

Is there any proof? How do you know if it is fabricated or not? The Browns can't get out of the contract because someone makes something up.
