OT: Jonnu Smith hates Buffalo (Edit: BB talk)

We're going to find out very soon if the real king of the griddy was a product of a bad QB and/or offense. He's got two outside WR's for defenses to worry about.
Jonnu and Agholor both had bounce back years after leaving, we already know.
He folded because the script was to run the ball to set up the pass. Defenses started punching NE's initial attack in the mouth and they were dead to rights after that because they have among the worst skill players at WR in the NFL.
Mac folded because he sucks. But I'll put you in the delusional category with Rkarp above, you obviously think Mac will take Trevor Lawrence's job since he's merely been average and Mac's team has been holding him back... right?
They would've gotten blown out had there not been any wind. That was proven in the next two matchups. Buffalo was built for the air and not the ground where NE was.
The very next matchup was a close 33-21 loss for the Patriots. I call it "close," but when Mac Jone's stat line looks like this :

14-32 attempts, 145 yards passing, 0 TD's, 2 INT's, 1 FMBL

You don't have a chance when your QB sucks to high heaven and has sucked since the bye week when teams compiled film on his and know all his weaknesses. Mac after the bye week in week 13 of his rookie year when his team was great turned it over 8 times in five games, completed about 59% of his passes for roughly 6 yards per clip... he stunk. That's who he was for the next two years. This was when conditions were perfect... nobody ruined Mac. he was just terrible.
They weren't built for shootouts. Their strength was running the ball, controlling the clock and setting up high percentage passes for Mac while the defense was holding the opposition. When that doesn't work, they can't go off script and start throwing the ball. They were basically built like the Ryan/Mark Sanchez '09-'10 Jets, the Vrabel/Tannehill Titans, etc.
If Mac was Justin Herbert or Joe Burrow instead they would be built for shootouts. Mac sucked... but we'll see if he beats out Lawrence for that job like you suspect he should... being a good QB and all.

Which is why they looked so much better with Zappe… just kidding no they didn’t.
Zappe wasn't on the team in 2021 genius.

Gesicki also struggled with Miami under Mike McD his last year there. that continued here.
The team Bill put on the field was built to win 13-10 with a defensive score and 2 fg's. if they needed to have Mac win games, the offense around him was not able to help. Mac was good when he found a rhythm and made accurate passes to his targets. he needed them to make plays, not himself to make plays. his targets could not.
it is laughable to say Mac was tp blame for that Buff playoff game when the defensive never showed up. the game was over in the 1st quarter
That was scheme, Mike McDaniel wants TE's to block not catch.

Mac Jones threw two interceptions the next time NE played Buffalo, he threw two interceptions the following game when they played Buffalo in the playoffs.

Reality is hard for some of you to grasp, you think this is your fantasy football league that doesn't penalize QB's points for throwing interceptions... it's not fantasy football, it's real world football.

Zappe wasn't on the team in 2021 genius.
He was in 22 and 23. Point is the last 3 seasons were not on the QB or putting Jones on the bench would have made a difference. It didn't. Those teams were not well coached at all.

Maybe if the Patriots had a better HC in 2021 they would have been prepared to play Buffalo in that wild card game and their defense wouldn't have put up literally the worst defensive performance of all time in the NFL playoffs.

Instead this is what the defensive "genius" saw his team allow: TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, victory formation. Yikes. That ain't on the QB. Not even a little bit.

We were talking about 2021 when the team was good.

In 2022:

Zappe was far superior to Mac, but he got benched because the owner reportedly insisted upon it.

The team wasn't that good in 2021. They couldn't hang with good teams.

Zappe wasn't far superior to Jones at anything. Jones belongs in the NFL even if only a backup. Zappe doesn't belong in the NFL.

Mac threw an interception on the very first drive.

New England's offense got the ball after halftime and Mac threw an interception on the very first drive.

If their QB didn't suck and couldn't manage a TD until almost the 4th quarter they could have engaged in a shootout... but that wasn't the case.

Tell us Mac is good, we all want to hear it?

Tell us how Mac will beat thoroughly average Trevor Lawrence out for the job, we want to hear you say it?

Stats don't change just because you're biased. Facts don't care about your feelings.

TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, victory formation. That's your defensive "genius" HC huh? The offense had to be demoralized seeing the defense get punked like that in a way no other team has.

And you think Trevor Lawrence is only average but Brissett is above average... lol

Zappe is the most overrated Patriot of all time, hands down.

At least when we hear Maye chants this year it won't be embarrassing like the Zappe chants from low information fans were.

New England turned it over on their first possession, they turned it over again the first possession after the half. Here's the NE offensive drive chart: Interception, punt, punt, FG, interception... that's demoralizing.
And you think Trevor Lawrence is only average but Brissett is above average... lol
No, I think Lawrence has been very good in one season, great maybe... he's been merely good in another and bad I his rookie season. But unlike Mac his rookie season was a disaster with Urban Meyer at the helm, they were the worst team in the NFL that year.

But you think Mac is good and was undone by his team and his meanie head coach... stand by your convictions. Mac should win the Jacksonville job easily... he's awesome.

Plenty of offenses have a drive chart like that. No team in NFL history has had a defensive drive chart in the playoffs like TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, victory formation. Thanks Bill!

Yes. I believe Lawrence is a guy who can get the label of above average. Not Brissett, sorry.

Jones proved himself to be a backup QB. He has shown enough flashes that he can be pretty good at times in spurts. Nothing wrong with that. Any chance he had here was undone by a head coach who has no idea how to develop QB's not named Tom Brady and had no idea what he was doing in his final seasons here... there's a good reason why no team wanted him to coach them this year.

Many shootouts were won during the dynasty, but Mac Jones sucks and Brady didn't.

No no... you think Mac is great and was held back by his coach, don't couch your words now. I hope he gets a chance to play, we usually see a lot of "good" QB's on the bench in the NFL.

TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, victory formation has nothing to do with shootouts. Not one time has a defense been a total and complete failure like that in the playoffs. Not once. Great job "coach". I know... let's hire two of my buddies Patricia and Judge to ruin I mean run my offense that will fix it!

Mac Jones not panning out here is 1% on Jones, 99% on the coaching/GM. Not debatable.

You really have to wonder how much Brady was held back by Bill. Quite a bit I'd say. Bill's stupidity cost Tom at least 2 rings, the Butler fiasco and the team laying down at the end of the 2015 season letting Denver play the AFCCG at home instead of Foxboro where they admitted they were intimidated to play. Nice going Bill!

Mac didn't pan out when he had "genius" Josh McDaniels, a good offensive line, rushing attack and weapons in 2021.

Just tell us Mac is good and will blow up the next time he gets a chance to start... stand by your convictions. "BB sucks" is the only thing you'll commit to. You better hope he doesn't inherit a good roster like the Eagles next offseason... then that take will look foolish like most of your other takes.

You think McDaniels is a "genius" lol. The team wasn't that good in 2021 on either side of the ball. Lions against bad teams... mice against good teams. They were one Jax upset over the Dolphins from missing the playoffs entirely. But DeR pOinTs RankIng or something. Case in point why that stat means little.

And BB did suck since Brady left, most egregiously the last two seasons. Where's the lie? Dude was fired for a reason.

Mac was in his rookie season. he started every game. the team went to the playoffs. Mac went to the pro bowl.
I hope Maye doesn't pan out just as well in his rookie season

Mac went the pro bowl as a 4th alternate because none of the people actually voted in wanted to go. They had nobody to play QB, Tyrod Taylor also went as an alternate. That's not getting voted to a pro bowl.

The team made the playoffs with Mac throwing the 25th fewest passes in the NFL. Josh and the coaches didn't trust him to pass for a good reason, we saw why after week 13 when he got exposed.

arguing with you that Jonnu was a good player here, leading back to your usual go to, Mac sucks, is boring.
