Damien Harris speaks out about the dysfunction on the Patriots offense in 2022

If your QB sucks then you literally can't possibly have the greatest team in history.
We're talking around the QB.
Actually it's wins that are the most important stat in football.
Win/loss is a result. They tally wins and losses with points.
Bottom line is like I said the 21 Patriots didn't have a good enough defense to win a championship whether Jones was the QB or not...and they proved my assertion correct on the field. Gimme a bunch of crap teams on my schedule and I could finish up there in the rankings. And if the team's offensive struggles last season were all the QB then the change to Zappe would have made a huge difference. Instead they got worse.
When you need to play word games you've already lost.

Calling Mac the same as Brady is peak stupidity.

We're talking around the QB.
Trent Dilfer (70.2 career rating) won a Super Bowl. Brad Johnson (82.5 rating) also won one and so did Jeff Hostetler (80.5 rating) and Mark Rypien (78.9). Eli Manning won twice (84.1). So you can be weak at the QB position and still win it all because of your team around you. It doesn't happen often but it happens.

It's a result of offenses scoring points and defenses doing an even better job stopping the other team from scoring.

The standings aren't based on points they're based on wins therefore they're the most important stat.

What word games. You said that the Patriots would have won a ring in 2021 if they had a different QB than Mac Jones, I said no their defense wasn't good enough, you scoffed at that thought and I proved I was right and decisively so. Game set match. Take the L dude and move on.
Calling Mac the same as Brady is peak stupidity.
It would be if anyone said that, and nobody did.

I routinely read this forum and have for more than a decade. I have been a big Pats fan for fifty years and follow the team closely. This forum and how people argue, in my opinion, reflects the dialogue across the country; people fitting the facts into their own narrative.

I think BB is the best coach in team sports history. I think football is more challenging to coach than any other professional sport. There are more players, really three separate "teams" on each team, and more stoppage of play, so that the opportunity for coaches to intervene is more pronounced. Given this, I think BB, as the greatest pro football couch of all time, is the greatest team sport coach of all time. However, if you watched the Pats for the last 3-4 years of his tenure and you felt that they looked like a well-coached team, then you were watching a different outfit than I was watching.

The Pats were a dominant team on special teams for twenty years. In BBs last four years they were awful. Missed field goals, penalties, returns for touchdowns. Did Mac play special teams? The Pats defense, despite being above average, routinely made mental errors whereas top defenses rarely do. Jumping offside of fourth and one, too many men of the field, etc.. These were the kinds of mistakes that other teams made for twenty years and we used to chuckle about. Now it was us making the mistakes. And despite being statistically in the top half of the league, they clearly had difficulty stopping good offences when they needed to. And the offence. Not just bad; inexplicably so. Fans, reporters during training camp, our own players as well as other teams players all commented on it regularly, but given our history it was hard to believe our own "lyin' eyes). The teams was poorly coached. Did Mac step up? Did he lose his confidence and fall apart? You bet. He was awful by the end. But to suggest that somehow that explains all that we witnessed is hard to justify.

I think the Pats should put two statues out front in Foxboro; one of Brady and one for BB. As Tommy said, it was the both of them that allowed us fans the opportunity to witness a dynasty unlike any before and possibly never to be seen again. But Jesus, the notion that this team was well coached the last four years or so and that it was all Mac's fault is bizarre and just reflects people fitting the facts to their narrative. We do it in politics, race relations, etc.. And it's everywhere on this board.
I honestly visit this place a little less with all of this non-stop arguing about the same few things in every single thread. Everything has to be so binary and argued to death. Either it was all Bill or all Brady. Either Bill was forced to make poor decisions or everything Bill did was dumb and he was carried by Brady. It really never ends. There is room for a nuanced discussion or even a debate but when you have two camps who absolutely refuse to concede a single point to the other it just turns into a tedious, multi-page, back and forth in every thread. Threads like this one which will obviously focus on what went wrong down the stretch are a rallying cry for the pro-Bill crowd and threads like "things I will miss about BB" are a beacon for bashing Bill's post-Brady decisions for the anti-Bill crowd.

Every single post you disagree with doesn't need to be a hill to die on. Just ignore it and move on.

Every QB you mention above was better than Mac… especially better than Mac after week 13 when opponents figured him out and had tape on him. That was the real Mac, that’s who he was for the next two years.

This ^ is just nonsensical rambling.

Win/loss is determined by point differential of individual games. Stop dancing…

You’re suggesting a Mac result is the same as a Brady result… peak stupidity.

Like I said it can happen that you have a weak QB and still win it all. Helps to have a great defense. Which the Patriots didn't.. as I already demonstrated.

Take the L dude... it's over.

Average isn’t bad, you don’t understand football.
