Players overhyped by their own team’s fans

lastly, eff off reek... WW was awesome... Reek might have more yards, but Wes never broke his kids arm ...

Wes was literally the best slot receiver in history and was incredible. We all think of Edleman as the ultimate Brady binky, but it was absurd how many times you'd hear Welker's name in any given game for 6 years straight.

Ugh Ron Brace. What a pointless pick! They had to force him on the field to play DE which he wasn’t agile enough for because he clearly wasn’t going to play NT.

Instead of going with the Best Player Available, Bill used Busto as leverage vs Wilfork in contract negotiations. IOW, he purposely wasted a top-50 draft pick simply so he could try to pay one of his best players less than what he was worth.

I ain't gonna argue... its my personal opinion that WW was the best WR to ever play for the Patriots.

There are players who were great for the Pats and whom the fans rightly adored, for example, the Lawfirm, O-T-I-S and the greatest of them all: Tedy B. (I firmly believe it was Tedy's stroke that prevented the 3-peat in 05.) Just because they wouldn't have been as good for other teams doesn't make them "overhyped".

Hunter Henry imo is over hyped by fans given his production
I loved the signing the first time. I was looking for 75 rcpts plus and competent blocking.
I am willing to give him the same excuse I gave Mac Jones. 3 OC's in 3 years. incompetent OC year 2/3. injuries. poor supporting cast.

Had Bill not recovered and drafted Gronk/Hernandez, the 2009 draft would’ve been looked at as a dynasty killer.

I remember him being overhyped by the local media when he was on the Chargers.

How about Chad Rourke? Some of the posts here about him made it sound like he was the GOAT in waiting.

if Asiasi, Keene and Harry had worked out, perhaps Henry, Jonnu and Agholor money would have been spent very differently

Lots of if's towards the end of Brady there:

Antonio Brown
Josh Gordon
How that led to Sanu, which costed us a 2nd
D. Thomas not working out

I can't recall all those free agents we picked up, but so many of them flopped one way or another.

Jonnu and Sanu were the worst investments. **** signing anyone with a last name ending in "U."

Thomas got ****ed over. He was released in the preseason as teams do with players with the intention of being brought back which he was. What he didn't expect was him getting traded to the Jets after Brown signed. He was the only player brought in that had experience with Josh McDaniels, so it was quite idiotic to trade him. He wasn't going to be the answer, but he would've been a serviceable WR. He caught 433 yards and a TD with the Jets that year.

Josh Gordon should not have been brought back after the stunt he pulled in 2018.

Pats panicked and released Antonio Brown. He could've played during that season as the NFL couldn't suspend him until the investigation was complete. It dragged out the until the offseason. According to Shannon Sharpe, he was told the Pats released him because they had buyer's remorse on the contract and the off the field incident was an excuse to get rid of him before it became guaranteed. The other theory was that he was released to take the attention away from Bob.

We all know the Sanu trade on the surface was horrible. Very rarely Bill puts players in bad positions. But having him field a punt when he had almost no experience doing when they had next to no WR's was amateur hour. He got hurt and rushed himself back to the field after a few weeks because he felt the pressure of being traded for a 2nd round pick. His injury got worse and the Pats released him in the offseason.

Injury prone Bruce Ellington, mini camp star Maurice Harris and Dontrelle Inman were the other stellar signings.

On no timeline in any universe is Welker a better receiver than Randy Moss.

He might've been had he turned the way he was supposed to turn based on the coverage during XLVI.
