Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

Agreed. Heat not really trying at this point.

Have to worry about Porzingis' health, Brown's free throw shooting, and Tatum's lack of output.
Agreed. Looking ahead... not going to be easy without KP. D White is playing great ball, either the magic or cavs are both tough outs big, physical teams who pack the paint. If we get to the ECF do we have anyone who can slow Brunson?

I think Holiday can slow Brunson. Look at what Holiday did to Herro. Herro was non-existent except for 1 game.

Knicks are one dimensional. So are the Cavs. Not worried about either. It is the athletic teams like the Magic and Pacers that seem to surprise us.

Brunson is a much better player tham Herro. He's extremely crafty.
Probably the most underrated superstar in the NBA. He's not flashy, not big, just a quiet assassin.
The chemistry with the 3 Nova guys is huge. Knicks will not go down easy.
Pacers can light it up but their defense is terrible. Still a tough opponent.
Nobody is easy from hereon.

Agreed but the 76ers, Bucks, and Suns are all out, and only the Clippers and Nuggets have the veteran talent that could get hot through the playoffs. The rest of the the path is tough, but a bit easier. There is no reason that the Celtics should not be in the Finals, and then we will see who is playing well. If Kawhi can play, big if, then the Clippers will be tough. Hard for me to see OKC or the Wolves in the finals. Denver or the Clippers if Kawhi can get healthy (I think Kawhi's career is over). Hopefully by the finals KP is back.

I like your optimism my friend.. but this isn't going to be a cake walk. Holiday is and has been a great player for a long time but he's 33.. Pacers I'd rather see if I had my choice.. they don't defend like the cavs and magic do. But hey getting to the finals is never easy right.

Cs are going to have to rely on veteran savvy and playing smart ball. They aren't going to out play anyone from here on out. Games are going to be close 5 to 6 point wins/losses. Knicks are probably paying with the most confidence .

Even w/o KP, C's are best team left in the East.
But the margin for error is now much smaller.
As for the Finals, if we hopefully get there, we need KP.

Anybody who references Johnny
Most gets a " like" from me.
Doesn't even matter what you posted.
I was in the service with a guy from Philthy who claimed that he was the fan that got into it with Johnny Most during a broadcast.

I'm surprised at how little grief Mazzulla has taken here for leaving an obviously hurting MP on the court for as many plays as it took for him to possibly be lost for the season. We all know that MP has injury issues but someone should have told Mazzulla.

That the NBA doesn’t re-seed is one of the most head scratching things in pro sports, but I’d rather play the Magic or Cavs than the Pacers anyway.
I was just looking at that. Very confusing and annoying that the Knicks play a lower seed? WTF? The NBA is supposed to be ahead of the rest of sports with this kind of innovation. The NBA would love to see the reborn Knicks in the Finals.

Orlando won so that series goes to 7 games. More rest for the Celtics. Both teams, the Magic and Cavaliers, look very weak to me. I think the Pacers are the third best team in the East at the moment. Not sure that re-seeding would help us.

Not worried about either the Cavs or Magic. Pacers could give us a few tough games if they get past the Knicks.

The extra rest is real important with Horford as we are going to be heavily relying on him.

I think there’s still a large margin between the Celtics (minus KP) and every remaining team in the east.

People are overrating the Knicks. They are better with Anunoby but I still this is a huge mismatch. Pacers are one of those teams where it almost doesn’t matter the opponent, when they’re cooking they’re gonna win, but odds are they can’t do that consistently enough. Orlando can fight but I don’t see them going more than 6 max.

Toughest teams for Celtics:

Heat (healthy) - Eliminated
Bucks (healthy) - Eliminated
Nuggets
Wolves
Thunder

Minnesota is the 3rd best team in the NBA imo. Their defense is nasty and Edwards is an alpha. They would give Celtics almost as tough a series as Denver.
Their defense just keeps filing motions-it never rests.
