THE OL REBUILD - IS STRANGE HEALTHY?

35% play action for Joe flacco

Lots of runs is what I read. Is strange a good fit for what van pelt plans to do ? Looks like we need beefier OL and if that's the case strange is a misfit.

Just looked at 2022 draft and if strange is also moved, we just have Marcus jones in the team who is more a gadget player at this point of time. 2022 is a huge bust of draft similar to 2019.

I would be fine if they move Marcus to offense 30% and defense 30% and no ST.
???
So, you would take one of the top punt returners in the NFL and have him play 0 reps on ST's?

sigh

Too valuable to be injured . I have reagor for it.

why not milton?'

Ok, so for you, one of very the best punter returner in the nfl isn't worth a roster spot, but a marginal returner is. I disagree.

Where did I say he is not worth a spot... I said play him more on offense and defense and not on special teams. Save his energy and health where he can. Contribute. He is one of the few unicorns who can contribute on both sides. Due to his height I don't see him as a solid cornerback and feel he might be a rotational piece.

You want the Marcus to play zero reps on Special Team, that is ZERO punt returns.
===
You prefer him to be a backup player on Offense 30% of the time. OK, as I said, I strongly disagree.

That's fine. Opinions are meant to be agreed or disagreed. That's why we have these forums..

Apparently, he needed better coaching, perhaps coaches who didn't think that he was a RT.

Many posters hear SCREAMED that Wynn should have been OK as a LG.

What you are pointing out is NOT a failure of Wynn in his 2nd contract. He is succeeding. The failure was in the team that drafted him and couldn't see his value as a LG.
He actually quit on the patriots. I will say when Dante retired the line went downhill

He doesn't look like a good fit for that as he's not quick enough and has the running style of Le'Veon Bell. A healthy Damien Harris would've been a good fit for this.

Yes, after 3 years of poor coaching of him at LT and being moved to RT, he quit. Congrats folks. You are happy. He's gone. He's happy. He is a OK starter in the NFL for a team that he can work for.

Yes, players should simply follow order and show hoe happy they are. Sometime that attitude just doesn't work out. I suppose if were good enough he would have succeeded at RT. After all, lots of LG types succeed in their first year being switched to RT near the beginning of their careers.

I'm confused by our running game. If we are running outside zone and gap schemes, seems we need players who can do both.

I was surprised that Onwenu was resigned to play tackle. Seems like a pure gap player. Same with Mafi.

Strange was drafted with the idea of playing outside zone.

I'd like to think Sow and Andrews can play either scheme.

This was my thing with Wynn. He was an average to below average tackle who many projected would end up as a guard in the NFL pre draft anyways but for some reason we never tried him at guard in any game I can remember. This was one of the many moves over the last few years that fans and posters seemed to call out in real time. It was basically the same thing last year when our tackle spot was a disaster and many of us said why not try Onwenu at tackle and it still took Bill almost 2 months to do it and what would you know? It worked.

Wynn definitely quit. Him and Brown got bent out of shape about switching sides in a contract year/Brown just getting paid as a RT and both ended up becoming malcontents. Wynn pretty much went MIA early on in his last year here and then posted that ridiculous Tweet about "Ain't een conversing" with anyone unless it was $5 mill only to end up signing for less than half that in Miami. Him and Brown two of the very small number of former Patriots I actively root against.

Preach brother preach now let's keep Onwenu @ RG.

IF Siddy Sow improves over last year he could be our LG if that Strange guy can't get healthy. Sow was a LG in College.

Very true but he is what he is... A first round bust who won't get a second contract from his drafted team
You're simultaneously predicting the future, while also passing off bad opinion as fact.

He's a bust... okay, you BB haters are legion, there are hundreds of you guys and Strange played the third most snaps on the entire offense the year before last and started ten games last year on an injured leg.

Surely there are YouTube videos dedicated to Cole Strange lowlights, videos of him being a bust... provide us with some examples, surely they exist?

You BB haters are silly people, you'd smear a young player just to tell us BB sucks... it's childish behavior at best.

Wynn left college with bad knees. Strange left college perfectly healthy and got hurt in year two... apples/oranges.

One injury does not equate to "injury prone."

If he can't stay healthy going forward that's another conversation, he started 17 games as a rookie.

And you're a Bill ball washer to I guess we can all go back and forth until Strange is cut in another year.

Siddy Sow's natural position might be LG so I am not expecting anything from Strange. Stranger things have happened.

And here he is getting beat like a drum over and over.

The defending of Cole Strange on this board is solely because he was a first round pick. When he actually plays he's an average guard and now is coming off what apparently is a major injury. They have now drafted 4 interior offensive linemen in their first 150 picks in the last two drafts so it is reasonable to assume they don't think he's necessary going to be around long term.
