Andy ReidThey were in the top 10 in least penalized teams this past year - NFL Football Stats - NFL Team Penalties per Game | TeamRankings.com
The point though is that come playoff time, there's no other HC out there that can prepare a team like Belichick.
Yea thats true https://www.footballdb.com/stats/penalties.html?yr=2023. Last year was not. They were in the top 10 in least penalized teams this past year - NFL Football Stats - NFL Team Penalties per Game | TeamRankings.com
I don't think that is true anymore either since they've lost their last 2 playoff games hes coached. The point though is that come playoff time, there's no other HC out there that can prepare a team like Belichick.
Those teams have front offices that made them contenders and they don't want to gut them for a 2-3 year run. That's ultimately the problem. The teams good enough to merit a short term run with Bill have a proven strong structure that got them to that point and don't want massive change. The teams that aren't good enough are willing to maybe consider giving Bill full control, but they are hesistant that they'll be rebuilding with a coach who won't be there for the window to open. This reminds me when Brady became available and only 2 teams were interested.
If you get Belichick, you know the team is gonna be prepared, situationally sound, good game plans and adjustments. If you're Philly, Dallas, Buffalo, teams that are ready to win, you should do everything you can to bring him in.
The Pats haven't won a playoff game since the 2018 season. Andy Reid has won 12 since Bill's last playoff win. It's really hard to say that Bill in his current state is better. A lot of that is who the QB is obviously.Yea thats true https://www.footballdb.com/stats/penalties.html?yr=2023. Last year was not.

Sure, except Brady had 4 offers, discussions with a few other teams, and was blocked by Brian Flores from the Dolphins while Bill has had 2 interviews with 1 team. This reminds me when Brady became available and only 2 teams were interested.

Tbf the real reason nobody wanted Lamar was because they knew they weren't going to get him. The Ravens were low balling him but they could match any contract. So a team either had to pay something absurd that nobody including the Ravens would pay to get him, or they give him something good but reasonable and then the Ravens match. The Ravens were just trying to get other teams to do their negotiating for them and nobody wanted to bite.Even less last off-season for Lamar Jackson, when he could have been had if any owner had the balls to go rogue.
I hope he takes his MVP trophy and parades with it through ATL's front office...
It's hard to square this with a guy who coached Mac Jones to a strong rookie season then presided over his decline to non-entity in less than two seasons.
"Either give me the authority to drive this offense into the ground or find somebody else"Belichick can't do what he does unless he gets his players.
It wasn't a bad offense when Matt Cassell was leading it. It was the 8th best offense n the NFL."Either give me the authority to drive this offense into the ground or find somebody else"
You can be the best prepared. And still lose.Yea thats true https://www.footballdb.com/stats/penalties.html?yr=2023. Last year was not.

You only had to go back 16 years to make your point. It wasn't a bad offense when Matt Cassell was leading it. It was the 8th best offense n the NFL.
I was going back to when they had a competent QB not named BradyYou only had to go back 16 years to make your point.
Of course. You can be the best prepared. And still lose.
You mean like the last playoff game where the Bills scored a TD on every possession? This reminds me when Brady became available and only 2 teams were interested.

I don't disagree with this. If he stays out this year, he'll be able to set himself up for a better position next year's coaching cycle. Right now it seems like nobody but the Falcons were willing to wait for us to release him and now the Falcons look like they are getting cold feet for whatever reason. Go in the media and keep your name out there and then be able to have back channel discussions where it looks like jobs are opening up.I think his best play is to sit out a year .... do some media or whatever.
It just seems demeaning for such a great coach .... appear desperate just for a job.
Become a coach for a garbage franchise ... Anyways ... IMO ...Dallas was perfect for him ...
