Wickersham and others drop numerous bombshells on Belichick/Brady relationship

Given the extensive history he has of making dramatic accusations against BB that remain unsubstantiated by a single local reporter (e.g., the one about the video board at the stadium) I’m not prepared to take Wickersham’s word for a single thing unless it is substantiated by a credible reporter. There is not one shred of truth IMHO that BB thought Brady was done.

Although I certainly question plenty of his decisions, I refuse to believe that BB is that obtuse when it comes to analyzing Brady.

Wickersham is a hack with an agenda against BB, and we know Tom Sr. has one as well (to the point that Tom Jr. was forced to apologize for his Dad a couple years ago). And given their history ESPN’s credibility in this topic is highly questionable.
The documentary coming out will shed a lot of light. Apparently it's going to recall what happened in the end from the top 3 Owner/Coach/QB

Ian needs to seriously consider banning gifs on this forum, theyre 99% of time used in the most corny/disruptive way in threads.

Two things which blow Wickersham out of the water on his previous scoop.

1. He said Belichick was trying to have Garoppolo succeed Brady.

Yet the 49ers GM Lynch is 2x on the record as saying he pushed for a trade of Brady and/or Garoppolo in the Spring of 2019 prior to Brady's last season, and again in October, AFTER the whole negotiation with Kraft/Brady/Belichick became a problem. Wickersham said it all went down in October of 2019. Lynch is on record as talking to Belichick in the spring of 2019. Even more interesting, Belichick never called Lynch to peddle Garoppolo to him. Instead, Lynch called Belichick in late October. The phone call ended with no offer of Garoppolo. Instead, Belichick called Lynch back later and only THEN offered Garoppolo. It was an afterthought.
Now I'm confused here. They traded Garoppolo to SF in 2017. . . .

Feeding self-serving representations to curry favor with reporters is 1000% on brand for Jonathan. This is a window into the new Patriots Way, modeled after the Red Sox Way. Reminds me of the hit piece on Francona after he was gone.

This doesn't bode well for them. Choosing the QB, choosing the coaches, etc. I wonder if Belichick wasn't dying to get out of here.

Kraft is an idiot for taking Bill's word that Brady was in decline. That's Bob's fault. In any case thank goodness its over and we're moving on.
BB knew that was a lie, but wanted control of his team back. The Pats just won 12 games in 2019 with a cast of misfit WRs and no TE.

That’s why the media hated him. He never sold out news nuggets to the nugget needy..
Unless he had a specific agenda to get out there, and usually Ian Rappoport was given a tidbit - the contract info this year for example... I thought there was another reporter he used this way, but i can't recall the name

Not going to get into the meta drama and gossip, other than to say that it does seem to me that the pressure of the way Brady left and performed thereafter probably put a ton of stress on everything in that organization, particularly with the Boston media feeding it nonstop and the fanbase turning into dueling political parties.
It was a mistake to let Brady retire ANYWHERRE but here - one that ultimately falls on Kraft, in my opinion. He could have said no to any "year too early instead of a year too late" situation, if that's even what happened. He could have told Bill that Tom stayed until he proved he couldn't play anymore, even if it cost them a season, and however much money it cost Kraft, Brady had more than earned it.

Or all of this is rank speculation and Brady just decided he wasn't going to win here, but could elsewhere.

I don't know, and neither does anyone outside a very select group of people, and WickerSHAM ain't one of them. Anything he's getting now, if anything at all, is flavored in VYA sauce.

Can we make this the last thread on this forevah and evah?

The main takeaway is the Kraft quote. Obviously the quote is real because Kraft didn’t want them to publish this until BB was gone and now approved it. The timing says it all. Of course now there is some Kraft spin/agenda involved for exactly the same reason: the timing. But I absolutely believe Bill told Kraft that Brady was done in 2020.

OK, now let's get this straight so there is no confusion: the bottom line is that Kraft and BB made a terrible mistake letting Brady go prior to the 2020 season. Is that correct? Or maybe we should have a poll?

Here's more from 2015, portending what was to come:

Quoting the article: "I saw Bill Belichick eat a unicorn, ass-end first. A ****ing unicorn. And Billy boy had an erection the whole time.”

Honestly must be such a stressful job. Busting your ass, 20 hr days, dealing with nothing but A++ type people all day long. Making them check their ego at the door. A giant amongst men. Then you got to deal with the wolves selling papers and click baits. There’s way too many arm chair critics, I know we all are to some degree. I honestly can’t imagine how he didn’t get burned out years ago.
