Are we a quarterback away from being good?

But the question is are we a QB away....NOT are we better than 3-10...being 7-6 at best is NOT a QB away.

being a QB away means all the pieces are in place to compete for a super bowl and we just need one guy. can anyone realistically believe this team has comparable offensive talent to the current top teams in the league?
7-6 is not AT BEST. it’s AT WORST with a somewhat capable QB.

Being a Qb away means whatever you define “away from” as, not what you choose to call it.

With a GOOD QB there is no telling where this team would be, it certainly has a defense that could contend for a championship.

If that is our "best" .500 is that good enough for fans?

I see a lot of posters taking victory laps that with decent play we would've a middling .500 team as if that is good.

Unless we are just happy building rosters that go .500 for the rest of Bills tenure. Ignoring how the league has changed because bill is "smaht for not getting elite receivers!"
No, it's not good enough. That is why they need at least 1 OT and a receiver that does not suck

but even then, Brady struggled in 2006, 2013, 2019 when he had average receivers....I think its fans just don't want to admit bill's failings
Lol, imagine thinking getting to the afc championship game, and the superbowl is struggling.

The Chiefs are scoring 22.5 PPG with Patrick Mahomes at QB. They have arguably the best interior OL in the NFL & a diminished version of a HOF TE that is better than any pats pass catcher. Supporting cast is more important than ever & the pats have a long way to go besides QB offensively.

Wow with such a star studded cast it sounds like Andy Reid is underperforming. They should fire him.

We have eight losses in one possession games and two losses in blowouts that our QB spotted the other team 21 points. It's not insane to say that this team could be 10-3 with a good QB against a hard schedule.

Let's be honest we all know what this thread is really about. It's to deflect blame from Bill. If we are just a QB away then really Bill built a Superbowl roster!

It's all smoke and mirrors that the team sucks and we are all too dumb to see it. Juju would be competing for a 2000 yard season with Tyreek hill if we just played zappe from the start!

So now I have to pretend that this roster is no different than the 49ers, eagles or other top teams in the East.

That is a different question though. The question to this thread is "Are we a QB away from being good?" Nobody asked about being a Super Bowl contender. My answer to the thread question is "Probably YES". My answer to your question is "Certainly NOT".

Thumbs up, Agree. Also, We're a QB, a LT and WR from being a Super Bowl contender.

New RB: we can't rely on Zeke to be around beyond this year. New CBs. Look at the ages of our depth pieces. Jonathan Jones is 30. Jalen Mills turns 30 next year. We have no guarantee how Gonzalez will come back. New DE. Deatrich Wise turns 30 next year. And who else do we have supplying pressure from the DE spot? Who else is getting out there in run defense? Uche and Judon are LBs, if that's what you're thinking.
I get what your saying. Gonzo will be fine he has youth on his side, and he was playing at an all pro level. Mills is gone, Philips is gone, Jon Jones is 31 and has been injured, uche will remain on a team's friendly deal if anything.. we needed CB depth even when everyone healthy. I'm sure they will draft someone in the later rounds, but I'd like to see a veteran signed as well. On The D line guy is probably gone as well. Your right we need some depth up front.

People also seem to only remember how he played prior to the bye week his rookie season and forget how bad he looked down the stretch. He looked like the player we've been watching the last two years at the end of 2021. The saying used for Mac "good for a rookie" is exactly that. He looked decent as a rookie, but if you're still seeing the same mistakes and no improved play in year's two and three it's a real problem.

Look at the career arc of all the great or even good QB'S in history. Most made improvements in year's one-two-three... they didn't stay the same before taking a flaming nose dive in year three.

Mac has been terrible, he was leading the NFL in interceptions last season when he got hurt and should have been benched at that point. I get BB's thinking about player development and giving Mac time to fix himself... but I disagree wholeheartedly that it was a good idea. If Zappe looks great for the rest of this season and next, we'll be looking back at these past two years as wasted seasons.
Question. How many rebuilding years are we going to endure? I'm of the mind I don't care at this point who the QB is or will be I just want to see good QB play, conducive to winning football. It's no longer about Mac he is not long for this team. His story is Over and done with.

Be it Zapp, a rookie, a vet.. someone . I just want winning football back in NE

What about Marcus Jones? I hope he will be healed up by next season. Can't remember his injury.

He has same as Gonzo torn labrum I believe. He should be ready for camp. Marcus Jones yes love him in the slot.

Its no coincidence that Burrow goes down and Browning is putting up numbers with chase/Higgins

And that Mahomes is struggling without Hill while Tua looked like a good QB once the got....Hill.

A good QB does improve things. BUT it's 11 guys on offense and all pieces must work together.

But Without an improved OL or one elite receiving talent the ceiling of this team will never be high.

How some fans can look at the offensive talent of top teams in the league and then look at ours and say we are a QB away is beyond me.
Yea.

KC was fine last year w/o Hill but their receivers are much worse.

Browning has been damn good

Book it ... Belichick will drop down trading with the Commanders who have an extra pick in rounds 2 and 3 ...
Bill grabs McCarthy then he picks up a LT and DE in round 2 ... I love McCarthy's potential.

Things change fast in this league. The difference between a 10-7 team and a 6-9 team can be very small and often due to injuries, bad calls, and just 1 or 2 underperforming assets. We do need a QB, a stud OT, and a stud WR. I gotta believe the D can maintain their level next year with both Judon and Gonzo returning.

The notion that those Patriot teams wouldn't have won rings with Peyton Manning or Ben Rapistburger is silly. So is the notion that the difference between Tom's 7 rings and Brees/Rogers/Farve one ring was Tom's magical power.... or that he was so far above them is fan nonsense. The stats don't reflect that either.

Nobody had better defenses, nobody had better special teams, nobody had better rushing attacks and blocking around them more consistently then Tom had. It's also not coincidence Tom won all his rings at the bookends of his Patriot career when he was playing on a 6th round rookie contract or at the end when he took less money.

It wasn't magic powers, he was simply a great QB on the best team. He never had a defense that was ranked dead last in points allowed for three years in a row like Brees did for example, his defenses never came close to that bad, nor did the team around him... outside of 2002 maybe.

This doesn't diminish Tom and it's not an attack on Tom.

Football is a team sport, it takes a team to win... and especially win rings.
I didn't say that the Pats couldn't win with those other QBs. Of course they could have because those QBs are also good to great. Which has been my point all along and not just about Brady. All coaches need good to great players to win and when they don't have them they don't win.

The difference in the case of Bill is that his years without the top QB have been very poor, 4 of 5 losing seasons poor to be exact, both here and in Cleveland. All the other top coaches didn't come near that when they didn't have top QBs.

As for the stronger defenses during Brady's time here maybe that's because it's what Bill is best at and he spent more draft capital on defense. Some of the conspiracy theorists have Bill doing that to help his kids along on defense but I don't see it that way. He simply knows defense better. And if he's been spending on offense lately he's not getting his money's worth.

Who on our team is as good as Kelce and demands the coverage he does? I'll wait
You may want to order some food to be delivered while you wait. It's gonna be a while.
