Just a heads up: Troy had a set back with his knee at practice on Wednesday and will most likely not play Sunday.

Re: Palamalu will not play Sunday

Sounds like bull$hi#. Who are you, Mike Tomlin? All he did was sit out practice. I'll believe it when he's officially ruled OUT.

A Steeler fan in my office told me he had gotten treatment outside of the Steeler complex and, evidently, picked up an infection in his knee?

Sounds eerily similar to the Bettis situation before the 2001 AFC Divisional Playoff game versus Baltimore.

Re: Palamalu will not play Sunday

Well if "super safety" Troy Polamalu does not play on Sunday the Steelers chances of winning the game just went down by 50%, and it wasn't all that good to begin with. :p

Wait! The still have Anthony Smith. Do they really need anyone else?

Re: Palamalu will not play Sunday

Steeler fans can't even spell this guys name right...how important could he be...

All team must give injury reports every Friday. You don't have to know Tomlin to read the paper. Someone rolled up on his knee in practice Wednesday. It swelled up and he has not practiced for the past 2 days.

I try to throw you a bone and you call bull****. Nice

I'm sure that Smith
is as good as his word.

LOL !

no offense, but why would you claim this statement to be BS

after all, the poster has nothing to gain. We are not the coaching staff. We are not going to gameplan differently because of this post.

in fact, if Troy does play, then it would make the poster look bad.

You will laugh at my saying this, but if this were really true ProFootballTalk would have picked up on it. So I don't believe it.

End of the day today when the injury reports with offical status are posted we'll know much more.

Thank you for the info, it's much appreciated.

Re: Palamalu will not play Sunday

I'll give this more credence after Friday's injury report. So many teams are being more cautious with players on Wednesday and Thursday (e.g. Brian Westbrook, TJ Houshmandzadeh) and the best indicator is the Friday practice.

Chris

"Safety Troy Polamalu, who developed swelling in his injured knee when a teammate rolled into him during Wednesday's practice, did not practice today (Friday) and likely will not play in Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

Polamalu was given a run test this morning (Friday) to determine if he would be able to practice, but there was no change in his condition and it appears he will be unable to play against the Patriots."

Because this poster is stating supposition as fact in his thread title. He BELIEVES Troy won't play. He doesn't know it.

More gamesmanship from the Steelers. They are resting him for the game. Just like the Colts are resting Harrison for the playoffs.

Re: Palamalu will not play Sunday

Maybe it would better if he did play if he's banged up.

Having read that, now I agree that Polamalu will not play. Of course he still could, but missing Friday practice is much more often than not a good indicator that the player is not ready.

That's a big loss for the Steelers. I assume Holmes will play then. He is the biggest factor for you offense because he can stretch the field with his speed.

Holmes will play.

If we were not playing the Pats, I would not care a bit about the absense of Troy. He would have been able to help with the deep ball quite a bit. All said, I would rather have Holmes back more so than Troy. Holmes can get open deep better than anyone we have. he changes our offense.
