If they couldn’t even score much on the Commanders today at home then losing out is definitely possible.

2-15 is in play unless a team/teams lay a huge egg against us ala Buffalo a couple weeks ago. That could happen. If it does I hope it’s KC or Buffalo or the NYJ.
Isn't that better than 5-12? Better draft pick, this seasons over so the best course would be to get a better draft pick.

36-44 record in Cleveland has entered New England
He wasn’t ready to be an NFL coach back then in more ways than one. Same arrogance and hubris dealing with people but no track record to back it up. He even publicly belittled Marv Levy… seriously.

His work with Brady does put him in the top tier of coaches. But now he’s a fish out of water… a defensive savant from a bygone era and without Brady he hasn’t got a clue how to build or coach offense. Hence setting up Mac Jones to crash and burn.

Even Rex Ryan tried to build the mid-2010’s Bills the same way and that failed too like Bill failed.

And he’s 71 years old. When has a 70+ year old coach ever won anything?

Thank you Bill but it’s time. Your move Bob or Jonathan.

Not all 3 but one of them will do! The Bills would be the best one if it has to be one of them. We owe them after they ended our season twice in a row.

Some guys just can't give Bill credit for the 20 year run of success, it was all Brady with a bunch of jags that Bill drafted, got lucky.

We’ll always have “we’re two inches away from being undefeated after three games.”

They addressed what?..A WR that is not a game changer or a game breaker with sonic speed?... Belichick still thinks he has Brady who can take 3rd and 4th depth talent receiving corps and make them into a championship offense - He continues to take other teams trash and try and make it work - The Steelers and Chiefs knew he wasn't worth a roster spot to keep - He has not taken a stud sure fire receiver in free agency since Moss left 13 years ago and Edelman by far was his best find since then.

Lol at anyone who thinks juju is a WR1.

AJ brown, jamaar chase are WR1.

Right, that's the part people are missing. It wasn't 3rd or 4th down with 5 seconds left. It was 2nd down at around the opponents' 40 yard line with 30 seconds left and you're only down 3. Not panic time. If you don't like it then throw it away for ****'s sake.

To be fair Juju had both hands on it. It's a catch any routine receiver should make.

I was thinking earlier today, ok, no way the pats can lose at home to a team who basically quit the season, traded their two best defenders....but they did. I have heard people arguing all over the place if the last play was Mac's fault of Ju ju's fault....Who cares, the offense played like ****. Punting 6 times, defense kept giving them the ball back and they couldnt do anything, over and over. Its not a good team, its not a good QB. Its a bad team, thats it. This is what a bad team is. Mac is not a guy that can elevate a bad team or even a average team very high. He is just that kind of QB. Will he be? I dont know, he would have to really change to something else.

I hear a lot of people saying well we just need to buy a bunch of all pro receivers and this and that. We didnt do that for 20 years, and because of that, we won. When you spend a bunch of money trying to make your Qb better you are taking away money from other spots like the defense, the run game, special teams, etc. A QB makes a lot of money and they have to be able to make it happen even if things are not amazing around them. He is not that. This was literally one of the worst losses I have ever seen because this is a get right game for even some of the worst teams, this was not the game to lose and they found a way. Leadership is gone, rally is gone, going above and beyond is gone. Nobody here can pick anyone up.

That’s not the point

What's the point? Any pass that hits a receiver in their hands is a pretty decent pass. The pass wasn't even broken up. Just went through his hands.

If we are going to claim bill addressed the WR position by signing juju why make it out that this was some difficult catch.

Hate to break it to you but our defense and special teams are bad too.

In 2023 WR matters. How fans on this board keep ignoring that I don't know. It's total myth that we never had talent at receiver.

Moss, welker, Edelman, Gronk, Hernandez....all elite talents.

All the best teams in the NFL have elite receivers

Oh stop, we have won superbowls with receivers who wouldnt make this team. What year did Edelman get here? Was he on the 03 superbowl team? How about 04? Welker? He left to denver did they stop winning? Moss was here for 2 years with Brady, we won zero superbowls with him. A great QB elevates talent around him, no matter what he is given, they dont make it worse. No for a lot of years we did not have elite talent at receiver and they still won.

Ju Ju had 7 passes thrown to him, he caught 6, he missed one that he had to lay out for with a defender in front of him. The pats have less drops than 21 other teams. I assume you folks watch other games, guys drop passes, but teams are usually not fighting tooth and nail trying to score a single freaking point in the second half against a team that quit and traded away their best players like washington did this week.

Lay out for? LOL. You must f*ck standing up, or perhaps not at all.

03 and 04 are 20 years ago. The NFL was totally different. Using those years to argue we don't need to have WR talent is irrelevant.

Welker left and we replaced him with Edelman. Brady threw 50tds with moss after throwing 25 the year before. Brady also went from 25tds in 2019 to 40 in 2020 with Mike Evans.

Name me all these QBs in today's NFL elevating average receivers? There aren't any. Almost every elite QB out there has at least 1 elite receiver.

If we are going to draft another QB and give them mediocrity at receiver get ready for similar results.

Washington did an evaluation of their team and concluded they’re not contending for a Super Bowl so traded two promising players, Sweat and Young. who they knew they weren’t going to re-sign at their respective price tags. They now have additional 2nd and 3rd round picks.

The Patriots apparently don’t care about those things (like acquiring future assets) despite having some upcoming free agents they’re unlikely to sign. They were offered a 5th round pick for Uche but demanded a 4th and got nothing. They’re going nowhere this season and the fact they’d trade him for a 4th confirms they’re not extending him anyway.

Also the team that was reasonably willing to a sacrifice for the remaining 8 games for future assets defeated the team that clung stubbornly to their present assets and got nothing.

I am just talking about the last few years. They could have drafted AJ Brown, Deebo Samuel, and Diontae Johnson that year over Harry too.

What! Why hasn’t anyone mentioned this here before? Never have I ever heard that. I’m shocked and devastated by this totally new info.

Not good enough that a new coach and regime is going to find them as must haves in this system instead of getting their own guys. There's a handful of a solid guys on defense. But on offense I can't think of anybody that we shouldn't be trying to upgrade. Even Hunter Henry who imo is the only guy I kinda like, has proven to not be a preemium TE. He's just a solid hand.

If I'm a new coach, everyone but Gonzalez is expendable
Mike Onwenu is a very good OlL. Demario Douglas is a promising rookie, as is Sidy Sow and Atonio Mafi. All three of the TEs are NFL Calibre.
Cole Strange is a keeper. As is Stevenson. Don’t know about Boutte, or whether JJSS can come back after the knee - he was KC’s #2 just last year.

They need upgrades, sure, and need some elite talent, but the young core is there.

You can want all pros everywhere, but that’s just not realistic.
