Belichick signed to long term contract

LOL!! Nothing like a guy who doubles down when multiple people interpret his post one way, but he insists it means something else....

I can't help but noticed how you conveniently edited out half your post (hoping no one noticed)..... that's pretty much admitting the point I have been making. Thank you.

I gave you the hypothetical portion of the quote, to help you see it because you and the other guy missed it, but you just stick to your “I’m right” story.

Moving on.

They're on 98.5 right now just lying their butts off.

"This is Belichick with a shot across the bow"

"Belichick is telling Kraft that if you fire me, I'm not going to go cheaply."

As though Kraft is just now aware of how much he's paying Belichick!!!!

The stuff Curran is putting out there is ludicrous, stupid and just pathetic

And you stick to the ridiculous notion that you're right and everybody else is wrong.

Newsflash: If you have to tell multiple people to reread your post, then the fault lies with you, not everyone else.

Moving on.

I agree. Kraft is perfectly aware that any contract he signs with Belichick is 100% guaranteed money and firing him means he has to pay out the balance of the deal (yes if Belichick walks away that changes, but I am talking if Belichick doesn't retire or want to coach elsewhere). He doesn't need the contract to leak to the press to know that.

They absolutetly have lost it the local media. and the win yesterday didnt help. They were talking who to sell when they were 1-7.

No it isn’t
It isn't relevant to knowing who the coach and GM are to assessing possible wins and losses over a season...?
Yes it is.
Why does every other sport mandate it?

Knowing the coaches contract has nothing at all to do with betting.

What sport mandates disclosing the terms of a coaches contract?

The afternoon shows are absolutely the worst. I couldn't take the WEEI noise and tried 98.5. Both shows were completely off the rails that BB and Mac ruined their narratives. They are almost as negative when covering the Celtics and Bruins.

Well, it can work in the sense Groh takes what Bill wants/needs in a player and "buys the groceries" based on his own selection criteria and decision-making. The question is how much of that criteria is dictated by Bill. For instance, did Bill tell Groh to sign Parker and Juju or did Groh go to Bill and push for it?

It's clear Bill sold him on the concept and based on his track record of unorthodox but successful decisions Kraft gave him the latitude. Clearly after the 2022 season Kraft asked Bill to go in a different direction.

Either way you point is valid. In 2024 they will likely have a top 10 pick and a s***tload of cap space. I'm not 100% convinced the current regime is the right dynamic to get the team back to being a Super Bowl contender. Time will tell.
I don’t think belichick “sells” Kraft on concepts.
Belichick has run football operations since 2000. Kraft doesn’t pretend to think he knows more. He gives belichick all the autonomy he wants and expects results.
He has gotten better results from his direct report of football operations than anyone else ever has. I doubt he suddenly thinks he knows more than Belichick and requires being sold on a decision.

We also know that Kraft at least on some level is in the room when decisions are made and is not an absentee owner. There was a great video years ago regarding wilforks contract negotiations where he gave input and belichick made the decision, taking krafts input.

I find it funny that a clunky rebuild after a dynasty has people thinking Kraft has lost faith in the man who has made the decisions for 24 years. And funnier that people act like there is an adversarial relationship between the two.

I think Kraft gives Bill a lot of rope but it's perfectly reasonable to have a more critical eye on the football operation when the team is not successful.

Yes. Also, other guys have been brought in to help run things with Bill in more of a committee than just Bill making all the decisions.

I don’t think that is accurate.

It is has been pretty obvious the last few years that Bill has stepped back and let others do things that he used to do. I think part of it is the eventual succession plan for when he leaves. I just wish there wasn't so many of his yes men and sons in the org.

This is a big topic, maybe too big to discuss here. But Kraft has 24 years of experience with Belichick. For the vast majority of that time he was the best decision maker in the sport, maybe ever.
It’s comical that people here like to pick out decisions that didn’t work out as if they are damming when the reality is that everyone making decisions in the nfl makes many that don’t turn out well. It’s the nature of the sport, the nature of competition, the nature of a league that tries to reward losing teams to even the playing field.
Teams that win are the ones getting the highest percentage of decisions right, not getting them all or anywhere near close to all right.
Belichick consistently has been the guy getting the most right. His structure of the organization, his knowledge, experience and ability is why. The framework he uses to make those decisions is sound, and again, maybe the best ever.
That those decisions have worked out less often in the short term doesn’t change that. Kraft surely knows he can’t improve it by making Belichick “sell” him on ideas and vetoing as if he knows better. And he had a 24 year track record with the man.
Fans want to punish someone and get retribution for the inevitable down period.
Kraft will not overlook ability in favor of short term results and out his organization in less capable hands until belichick decides he is ready to retire.

The analogy is a stock trader. The good ones are right a little bit more than wrong. When you have the best one, and you trust his sound judgment and skills you don’t yank your money and give it to someone you have no experience with because of a few losses.
The people calling for Belichicks head are likely people who are the market drop and react by taking retribution against investing by selling at a loss.

Obvious how?

Agreed, being 100% correct all the time is not realistic. Being willing to try things and fail fast is an important trait for any decision maker in any profession. Avoiding analysis paralysis and learning on the way is fundamental to the Agile methodology that has taken over software development and is being applied to many other pursuits. BB demonstrates that mindset and does not fall in love with high draft choices that do not live up to expectations.
