Exactly. Maroney is a avg NFL back at best.

And the only reason we say he is average is because he plays on the Pats and we make him look better than he is. If he was on a team like the Bears, his YPC would be 3.4 and he would be out of this league in 4 years. Kevin Barlow had a 5.2 YPC 4 years ago and where is he now? Maroney sucks.

And here we go again, back to the same tired and refuted arguments. I'm getting tired of dealing with this willful ignorance.

James
Mungro
Rhodes

All of the above put up significantly better numbers in the Colts system than they did after moving to new teams. The numbers Kenton Keith puts up may be an indictment of the "Addai is great" argument, but they are not an indictment of Maroney.

Or to put it another way.... Addai, one of the players you're championing, is being outplayed by a CFL free agent on his own team.

The colts system eh?

It must be our system!!?? Zone blocking , just like Maroney had in college where he thrived! Our system gets maroney his ypc. In a less explosive O maroney would have a 3.4 ypc just like NSA said.

The reason that Jim Brown is considered the best running back is not because he has the most rushing yards in NFL history, since he doesn't have that record.

ROFLMAO. You must be getting really desperate to bring Jim Brown into the conversation. Now you're trying to compare Maroney to a HOF RB?? That is really ludicrous. Maroney is barely within smelling distance of Addai and McGahee. He's not even in the same UNIVERSE as Jim Brown!

Let's look at the Stats:
| 1957 cle | 12 | 202 942 4.7 9 |
| 1958 cle | 12 | 257 1527 5.9 17 |
| 1959 cle | 12 | 290 1329 4.6 14 |
| 1960 cle | 12 | 215 1257 5.8 9 |
| 1961 cle | 14 | 305 1408 4.6 8 |
| 1962 cle | 14 | 230 996 4.3 13 |
| 1963 cle | 14 | 291 1863 6.4 12 |
| 1964 cle | 14 | 280 1446 5.2 7 |
| 1965 cle | 14 | 289 1544 5.3 17

Not only does Jim Brown have staggering productivity and an amazing YPC, he also has rushed for over 12,000 yards in his career and that includes SEVEN seasons with at least 1,200 yards rushing. AND he has at least 200 carries in EVERY season. Jim Brown was the NFL model for DURABILITY! This is the WORST possible example you could have brought up in Maroney's defense. Wow, I mean Wow. Even homerism should have its limits!!!

Exactly. Put Maroney on the Raiders or Dolphins and he would have a 3.4 YPC. The kid is a product of our system. The same system that won 2 super bowls with Antowain Smith. We are making a crappy RB look average.

And Jim Brown was the ENTIRE FOCUS of the defenses he went up against!!! Maroney NEVER sees 8 men in the box. NEVER!! Wow, this is insane. Other teams must be laughing at us for even putting LoMo in the same sentence as Jim Brown. GOOD LORD!!!!:bricks:

Speaking of CHFF, here's a little something they produced about the Patriots running game, just today. Maybe this will ease the pain of some of you who don't seem to like the team's running game right now.

http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Articles/11_1911_The_buxom_bosom_theory_of_NE%27s_ground_game.html

Just 3 quick pulls from it.... the rest you can look over at your leisure:

Here’s how New England stacks up on the ground this year (with info obtained from NFL.com):

* Rushing attempts – 356 (8th)
* Rushing yards – 1,456 (8th)
* Rushing YPA – 4.09 (12th)
* Rushing TDs – 13 (t3rd)
* Rushing first downs – 103 (2nd)
* Percent of rushes for first downs – 28.9 (1st)
* Fumbles – 2 (t3rd)

The Ravens held their first 11 opponents to an average of 77.9 yards per game (857 yards in 11 games). With 90 yards rushing, New England exceeded that average by 15.5 percent.

The Ravens held their first 11 opponents to an awesome average of 2.76 yards per attempt (857 yards on 311 attempts). The Baltimore run defense is, in fact, on pace to become the third best run defense of he Super Bowl Era (behind the 2000 Ravens and 1998 Chargers). With 3.75 YPA (24 for 90), New England exceeded that average by 35.9 percent.

Among the five best offenses in football, the Patriots rank:

* No. 3 in rush attempts
* No. 3 in yards per rush attempt
* No. 1 in rushing first downs
* No. 1 in the percentage of runs for a first down
* No. 2 in rushing TDs
* No. 2 in fewest fumbles
* No. 4 in percentage of run plays

I hope that will east the mental anguish some of you seem to be suffering through.

Is there a way to compute how many of the total rushing yards accumulated after we where up by 14 + points?

What's the point? Are you happy with having Heath Evans being the MAIN OPTION on the tough 4th and 1's and when we are down on the goal line? The running game was good last year so why did we NOT bring back Corey Dillon? Puhleaze. Kevin Faulk, my friends, averages 4.4 YPC on this team. Why don't we give the ball to him MORE than Maroney??? Afterall, using this lame arse YPC excuse, Faulk would give us more yards in the long run!! Good grief. Maroney would be a fine back if we used a 4th rounder on him. We didn't. We completely WASTED a 1st Rd pick on a guy that has prove himself to be an AVERAGE running back, AT BEST!

Which part of "doesn't have the most rushing yards" is causing you so much difficulty? I didn't compare Maroney to Brown, as you well know. I used the greatest running back in NFL history to point out the fatal flaw in your volume (number of yards) argument.

Why can't you ANSWER my question?
When is somebody going to answer WHY it is ok to assume Maroney would maintain his 4.3 YPC if he got the ball 18-20 times a game and Kevin Faulk would not???? Somebody tell me why this is? Is it because Maroney is bigger, tougher, what? Maroney is NOT a tough runner so why the hell are we to believe he is better than McGahee who only has a 3.8 on way more carries, but also is the #1 option on the entire offense? Answer me that Maroney apologists. I want to know.

The colts system eh?

It must be our system!!?? Zone blocking , just like Maroney had in college where he thrived! Our system gets maroney his ypc. In a less explosive O maroney would have a 3.4 ypc just like NSA said.

Hey, genius.... last year's system was "less explosive". Maroney had a 4.3 ypc. NSA is an idiot. Following him just makes you look like a bigger one.

I voted that I would not draft Maroney, but that's only because I think in hindsight that Addai and MJD are better overall.

I am not disappointed in Maroney and I think he will play better and be used better.

LOL you used the LAMEST comparison of all time, Jim Brown to Maroney and you can't even fathom how stupid your argument sounds? Jim Brown produced over 12,000 yards rushing!! How's that for volume? You've got PIE all over your face, and you just can't admit it.

If you want anyone to take you seriously, you've got to start by RETRACTING Jim Brown's name from the conversation. I mean for real, you look like you have clown shoes and a rubber nose on right now for bringing Jim Brown into this. Dropping the name of a HOF RB into this conversation is LUDICROUS, especially since Maroney has produced bupkus to date.

MJD has been a hell of a player for Jacksonville, no doubt about it. To this point, I think he's been the best running back from that draft.

Exactly. And this guy is calling me an idiot? This guy has no business calling Bozo the Clown an idiot after that Jim Brown comparison. Good lord, LOL!

Again..... I didn't compare Brown to Maroney, and you know this full well. I simply destroyed your "most yards" angle of argument.

I mean for real, you've been a clown for this entire time. Your ability to understand a post doesn't somehow make me wrong. It simply makes you more ridiculous than you already were.

12,000 yards rushing. Nuff said. Perhaps I should refer to you as clown shoes until you can finally admit that using using Jim Brown was a TERRIBLE example. Have a nice day!!

I must admit, I did get a really good laugh out of that!

Actually, it's the perfect example, which is why I used it. Brown is considered the greatest running back of all times by almost everyone involved in football. This is not because he has the most yards of all time. This simple fact points out the problem with your argument. I'm sorry that you feel the need to lie about my post in order to avoid having to admit your argument fails, but that's really not my problem. Emmitt Smith has 18355 career rushing yards. That's the most in NFL history. He's not considered the best RB of all time, Jim Brown is. It's that simple.

And, again, when you quote NSA as an ally, you make yourself look like an idiot. I have a Bates 640 stapler here on my desk that knows more about football than NSA seems to.
