OBVIOUSLY. I wouldn't mind keeping Bill as HC, but not at the cost of having him continue, even another day frankly, as GM. Keeping Bill as GM is FAR too high a price for keeping the hopelessly incompetent Bill-as-GM.

Bill must play no role whatever in the obviously-necessary task of rebuilding the roster. He has amply demonstrated his incompetence in such matters.
Unfortunately, I don't see any way that Kraft does anything until the season is over, even though that would be getting rid of him too late rather than too early.

I voted no. But it really depends....

1.) Say we tank...get the #1 overall pick....then I am not sure who the coach should be...has to be someone who can coach for 3-4 more years to get the rookie QB to his 2nd contract.

2.) Say we finish close to .500...bring in a veteran QB...re-tool in FA. I would keep Belichick...but it depends on the veteran QB we would be bringing in. One thing for sure, we aren't picking up Mac's 5th year option....so we have a hole at QB either way....tough call.

3.) I am also not sure that Jerod Mayo should be our next coach as well....we might need an offensive minded coach more.....

Regardless of the outcome with either options, BB the GM must go!

I'd do what I've been saying they should do for years: Keep Bill the Coach. Fire Bill the GM.
I understand what you’re saying but there’s no way Bill’s pride will allow him to do that.

Bill as a coach may still be fine (although I think the game may have passed him by), but his personnel decisions as a GM the last 3-4 seasons have really set this team back years. That’s unforgivable and a fireable offense IMHO. Now BB still has some SB cache left so he won’t be let go this season, but the Krafts have to remove Bill gracefully after the season’s over so this team can set a new course.

I’m truly grateful for all that BB has given Pats Nation but it’s time to move onward and hopefully upward…us fans deserve that.

They're not firing BB mid-season. That's a big time show of disrespect.

I think BB has lost the team and it's time for him to go...however, the six championships buy him the rest of this season (maybe the next. That's up to Kraft) and a chance to exit respectfully.
Would Kraft let the senior manager of one of his businesses run it into the ground even though he of she had past success?

How much past success? Because like 6 Super Bowls means buying a penny stock and making a billion dollars off of it.

I have always been a "in BB I Trust" guy, since he arrived.

I am presently reconsidering that position. If I hadn't been so strongly set with that thought I would be saying Bill must go.

I don't want to see him kicked out. We owe him more than that.

This year must be very tough on him. He broke up with his long time girlfriend. His work situation is in the pits.

Any ideas? Thanks
He could have a health scare (cough, cough....) that requires him to withdraw mid-season.

I just think Kraft must, however quietly, insist that Bill not have a role in trades, acquisitions, draft, etc. In my mind he has AMPLY demonstrated his incompetence in that area. I do not think this is terribly urgent, because I don't there is any actual "rebuilding" to be done during the season: why bother? But the work of planning for draft (and everything associated with it) must begin soon if not immediately. Bill's input must of course be sought, but he must have no ultimate decision-making powers at all. I would hope they could accomplish this without embarrassing Bill any more than is necessary, but I attach far less importance to this than I do to getting on with a successful rebuild.

You honestly think that if they had a better offensive line that Mac Jones would be a great QB?
I do. Maybe not great, but much better. I'm not saying Mac Jones is Brock Purdy, but look how much time SF's front line gave him last night. Oh, and how much separation the receivers had.

To me Bill needs to go in general. If he actually did stay on as the head coach but lose his duties as GM then whomever is brought in there will be a pissing contest and it will be "Bill's guys" vs the new guy's guys. If Kraft elevated someone already here on the personnel side then he's beholden to Bill to some extent anyways. It's a lose/lose to try and keep Bill but have a new GM.

I honestly think most talk re Mac is beside the point right now. My own view is that he is owed until the end of the season to show what he can do, given what a lousy deal he has been handed by the GM. Nothing in any case re Mac's final disposition need be done until the end of the season, by which time Mac will have been given at least something like a fair shot. Do I think he will show himself to be worthy of a long-term contract? No, I do not, but fair is fair. As for any possible negative impact playing Mac might have on this year's record, what the hell difference does that make?

(Except on our draft position )

We're on track for the 5th pick. If that's how it ends, we wait to see what the Bears and Cardinals are going to do with Fields or Kyler Murray. At that point, if a top QB like Caleb Williams is available, you can trade from #5 up to #1, especially since the Bears are also picking at #2.

Did you watch the saints game? There were plenty of open receivers and jones missed them.

BB won't be demoted though. He's not going to stay on as HC if Kraft forces him to have a decision making GM.
But, that doesn't matter. It's not like we just started floundering. He's been horrible for 4 years now.
Starting with planning on Cam Newton as your "rebuild".
Which proves that BB won't move on from Mac. He rode it out with Cam all year - even when many thought it'd be time to test Stiddy.
So, he's sure not going to Zappe or Cunningham.

Newton was a stopgap not a rebuild and stidham was a pick machine.
That said Zappe or Cunningham aren’t nfl caliber QBs either.

I don't think Bill is up for (cough, cough..... ) as a way out. He will fight to keep his job. Having given up his girlfriend all he has these days is his job.

I watched the game last night. Purdy and Jones are not even close. Jones is not a winner or closer.
