It all depends on how they use him. Sign/draft a coverage safety and play Dugger closer to the line of scrimmage? I'm down for giving him money, he's a playmaker at that spot. If he's going to play as much deep safety as he has this year I'm only bringing him back if the money is right, he's not a difference maker at all in that role. Pedestrian at best this year. And that to me is yet another roster building failure, they have about 4 safeties who perform at their best playing the star or in the box/roaming the underneath passing lanes and you're basically guaranteeing at least one of them won't be in their preferred spot in every snap. And to add insult to injury, they draft Mapu and instead of giving him Tavai's snaps, they're playing him at safety a ton as well. Why have Peppers, Dugger, Mapu and Phillips on the same team, then? What sense does it make?
Did not understand that pick. Felt like a luxury pick adding onto a position of strength within our team when we had gaping holes elsewhere. I don’t want this post to mean that I’m sh*tting on Mapu either.

To me Bill needs to go in general. If he actually did stay on as the head coach but lose his duties as GM then whomever is brought in there will be a pissing contest and it will be "Bill's guys" vs the new guy's guys. If Kraft elevated someone already here on the personnel side then he's beholden to Bill to some extent anyways. It's a lose/lose to try and keep Bill but have a new GM.
That is a concern. If Bill were to be seen as doing anything to encourage such dissension, I would fire him on the spot.

I get the pick if you're going to put him in Tavai's role, to play box safety I don't get it either.

He has. Unfortunately he didn’t recognize said WR’s legal drama.
He thought that AB could keep his damn nose clean for, you know, two damn weeks.

I really want to know how some of these idiots voted no - this should be yes 100% - get rid of this washed up coach who has done nothing in his career without Brady under center and only won those other 2 rings by way of being a part of Parcells staff- Brady proved he can win without him,Bill has proved hes well overrated when some call him greatest ever - thats laughable

Kraft should ask GM Bill exactly what his free agent and draft plans are to help Coach Bill and if it’s more of the same then fire them both!

We're on track for the 5th pick. If that's how it ends, we wait to see what the Bears and Cardinals are going to do with Fields or Kyler Murray. At that point, if a top QB like Caleb Williams is available, you can trade from #5 up to #1, especially since the Bears are also picking at #2.
It's too soon to get a QB when he'll likely fail playing with a whole bunch of scrubs. Then it would take years to figure out whether the QB is the problem or the supporting cast.

Best to draft some offensive talent first then get the QB. We've already seen the Bucs do it with Brady in 2020 and also the Rams in 2021 with Stafford. Pats are really lacking in talent, so it will take at least 2 years of good drafting. Then in year 3, either draft a QB high or bring in a QB with high potential upside like Mayfield.

If Bill leaves and goes to a new team would you cheer for his team and for Bill to win one as HC sans Brady? I think I’d be more interested in seeing how that team does with BB than I would otherwise but that’s as far as it goes with me.

I think the odds of that are low anyway. When he leaves he’s done imo.
As long as the Pats are going nowhere, and that team winning doesn’t negatively impact the Pats (E.G., Jete, Squealers, etc)? Sure. Why not?

Purdy has the IT factor, something I never saw in Jones.

I saw the hilights of last night's game and imo he reminds me a lot of Brady.
While I’m not disagreeing, the level of talent on both sides of the ball in SF is unreal.

Purdy has a lot of weapons and while I’m not saying Jones would be a HoFer in the Bay Area, I think many QBs would love to have that roster aside them.

Mac is the worst human being alive.

You honestly think that if they had a better offensive line that Mac Jones would be a great QB?

Probably not. But he might be serviceable like he was in 2021 under Mcdaniels. That year the OL was decent, we had a good run game and Mac did well playing game manager.

Mac always was a high floor low ceiling type guy. He's not the type of QB who is going to win you games outright. And when he tries to do too much or make a play you see what we get....But weve seen Bill win with Matt Cassell, Jimmy G, Brissett.

The only difference between this year and bill winning with all those guys is honestly the roster is totally devoid of talent.

Patriots realistically need 2 years of drafting all offense and to hit on each pick. So you are right. Probably 3 years.

Not sure what good it's going to do to get a great QB prospect and give him juju/parker/Bourne a 50% pressure rate OL and RBs that average 2.7ypc.

You'll ruin him like the jets have ruined many before.

It's not just Purdy's success but his playing style as a pocket QB that don't depend on being mobile to be successful. He moves around the pocket really well and releases the ball right on time with zip and accuracy. All very Brady like.

Obviously the talent is up there, but JG couldn't stay healthy on that team and Lance, a 3rd pick, face planted. So Purdy had already beat out 2 worthy competition. Who did Mac have to beat out? Hoyer?

Ugh. He’s LITERALLY Hitler.
Hitler is alive?

Hitler is alive?

I was going to say I just saw him in Argentina before you posted that link.

I can't compare Mac Jones to the guys you said Bill worked with. Jones has less talent than those guys. I don't think Bill like Jones.
