You honestly think that if they had a better offensive line that Mac Jones would be a great QB?It’s the offensive line, which is absolute trash. No 3rd down guy. That’s all on BB.

Gonzo was the right pick in the first.I desperately wanted Mayer in round 1. Round 2, I was looking at one of the centers/guards (maybe Schmitz?) to allow Onwenu to kick out to RT. Round 3, I wanted Charlie Jones, WR. One of the R4 picks, I also wanted Puka. Both Puka and Jones were consistently scouted as guys who 'just' get open. Mayer was called Baby Gronk in college. Schmitz is strong, hard-nosed, and would help stopgap the line this year, take over for Andrews next year, while hoping to get time to draft an OT higher next year, or develop a lower round OT this year.
I can't say with absolute certainty that he was the best possible pick, but he was certainly an excellent pick.Really

Nothing is going to make him a great QB. But a good offensive line would change a lot. You give WR's more time to get open, he doesn't get the yips and feel like he needs to go running because the line is giving up pressure every second, the RB's are more successful. You honestly think that if they had a better offensive line that Mac Jones would be a great QB?
Ok, I got it, Mac Jones' problems are all because Bill Belichick didn't surround him with good people. You keep believing that.He won’t be a great QB but most likely won’t be be turning over the ball so many damn times and make these many mistakes.
This is becoming Indy 2.0 with Luck, except Luck was able to make plays and took the trash of that team to the AFC championship game and also few 11-5 regular seasons…
Not comparing Mac to Luck, but as a young QB that doesn’t have all the gifts as Luck possessed you need to surround him with serviceable people. Currently BB the GM has been surrounding him with absolute garbage.
They needed to draft some solid TE to help block, and BB didn’t go for that.
I understand the offensive line problem but Mac Jones is not a winning QB. His strengths were smart and not giving up the ball. He has 4 pick 6s at his home field in 2.5 years. Tom Brady had 4 pick 6s in 18 years on the same home field. Brady had bad offensive lines during his 18 years. You said it, I agree Mac Jones is not ever going to be a great QB.Nothing is going to make him a great QB. But a good offensive line would change a lot. This line is just unsustainable for a winning product.
What about the rest of the O? Did Kraft make the decisions on the 32nd ranked o-line in the league and having a group of number 3 receivers? From what I have read, it was Bob Kraft that was so strong on Mac Jones. If this is true then he shouldn't bounce BB, Take ownership.
No, but I was talking about Mac Jones not the rest of the OWhat about the rest of the O? Did Kraft make the decisions on the 32nd ranked o-line in the league and having a group of number 3 receivers?
Is every starting QB in the NFL a "great" QB? I'd suggest some are elevated by the weapons they have.Mac Jones is not ever going to be a great QB.
It's called the good old boys network. And it exemplifies my opinion that coaching isn't all that it's cracked up to be. It's teaching techniques that are a century old with some adjustments along the way and can be taught to almost anyone. There are probably people reading this who could be taught to do it if given the chance. So, what do you think of McDermott in Buffalo? It's his way or the highway. That's how he runs it. Andy Reid controls everything himself. He's 65, employs his family. Belichick isn't even the oldest coach in football.
I'll throw one more at you: the consensus best coach, if it isn't Andy Reid, is Kyle Shanahan. A guy who got his start in the NFL with Jon Gruden, who was Kyle's father's disciple back in San Francisco in the early 1990s before Mike S. moved on to take the Denver job.
I'm not a fan of Patriot nepotism either, but Belichick is hardly unique here. The entire league seems to operate this way.
I honestly don't know if there is an option I would hate more than that.I voted no. But it really depends....
1.) Say we tank...get the #1 overall pick....then I am not sure who the coach should be...has to be someone who can coach for 3-4 more years to get the rookie QB to his 2nd contract.
2.) Say we finish close to .500...bring in a veteran QB...re-tool in FA. I would keep Belichick...but it depends on the veteran QB we would be bringing in. One thing for sure, we aren't picking up Mac's 5th year option....so we have a hole at QB either way....tough call.
3.) I am also not sure that Jerod Mayo should be our next coach as well....we might need an offensive minded coach more.....
Wow! What an interesting idea. I'd be all in on that and I'd start watching the pressers again. If we're gonna let BB go and start from scratch let's take a good look at Deon Sanders.
As mentioned upstream, Neon Deion is the answer. Think of how much fun that would be. Talk about culture shock.I voted no. But it really depends....
