This is 100% true, and Mac had a bunch of those. The one-handed miracle stab by Hunter Henry was another.

However, in the 2nd quarter, it was lasers everywhere.
I am hoping it was just rust. Not enough preseason reps.

Would probably feel better about this one if it wasn’t Dolphins, Jets and Cowboys in the next 3 weeks. Can they make it to 2-2? 1-3 looks grim, but is that more realistic? 0-4 and it’s done.

We're done with the moral victories. This is year 4 of a rebuild process.
Speak for yourself. Your personal disappointment suggests to me you set your expectations too high. The team is still a work in progress.

Mac arm strength isn't NFL acceptable. These floating or soft entry tosses ain't gonna cut it. Nor is his pocket awareness where hes taking sacks in extremely important possessions.
Yet people here are disappointed we're not going to contend for the division.

Wtf is Bill doing with his decisions? He made more than a handful of mistakes today.
Not his best day, but also not the refs best day either.

Just cause Mac doesn't look great doesn't mean his WR didn't have their own problems. It's more of the same. Balls hitting hands ending up on the ground.
Same can be said for Philly's, and every other NFL's team. No one catches them all.

They had a **** ton of chances to win that game and they blew every single one in glorious fashion.
Yet they never gave up, even after a bunch of chuckleheads in the game day thread tossed in the towel.

We lost by five points to the second best team in the league last season who added more talent in the offseason.

We'll get better.

Derp. How clutch is Mac if Boutte drags his foot on 4th down? How clutch is he if all we need is a field goal to win after we passed up a 40 yarder with 9 mins left in the game? I'm honestly beginning to entertain the Bill is washed up talk more than the Mac blame

That is true. And I have been a huge Mac supporter. But why can't Mac add a little zip on a few balls to the outside? I think if we had Parker this is a different game, and clearly the Eagles were crowding the line a scrimmage which Thornton would help with, but there is no excuse for Mac to zip a few balls. Mac was much better with his packet movement, and the OL with two rookie guards and Anderson at RT was MUCH better than expected, but if Mac could zip a few to show confidence, that would be great.

His arm strength is dog ****. It's either floating or taking 6 weeks to delivery.

Can we not just throw blanket statements like "it was only 2 sacks" against what I assume you mean is essentially one of the best defenses?

You can't just ignore the context that the two sacks directly affected the end of the game. Mac didn't make the adjustment and didn't get rid of the ball.
Did you see the first Bourne TD? Did that look like a weak arm?
Everybody underthrows deep balls early in the season, because guys are finally running full speed.

Nah, even at 0-4 if the other AFC "contender" teams are having a rough go so far they might still be fine. But I doubt they go 0-4 after today's look. 2-2 feels pretty reasonable, but I could see 1-3.

Yes, Corral was going to save the season.
Never said that. But he’s got a better chance of doing that than your boy Zappy does when he is out of the NFL this time next year.

Elliots fumble was another wide pass gone wild.

I dont see any difference from the last 2 years. The INTs are coming. Just watch.

Important thing to keep in mind is that the rest of the AFCE is in "win now" mode. They have loaded up and are staring down the barrel of many huge backloaded contracts that will sap their ability to compete in the next few seasons. Conversely, the Patriots have significantly more monetary flexibility and just overall resources coming up. What's important here is for NE to keep improving, even if it's not enough to catch up to the division winner this year, they should be able to help close the gap as they gain cap, their competitors are hurting for cap, and if they continue to draft as well as they did this year.

Ross, you are right, but that is an "additional" 2 to 3 year vision. Rookies, except for a lucky few, do not contribute a lot for a few years. This is Y4 of the rebuild, it is not unreasonable to expect some results.

You were all high on Corral like Jones.

Zappy Smurf will replace Mac by week 5?

People will keep denying the obvious until they have no choice to accept it, i'll give it 3 weeks.

the most stunning part - IMO - a much maligned OL that had never played together as a group of 5 holds up. I think Mafi and Sow need to be considered going forward regardless of who’s back. The OT did their job as well and the entire group deserves kudos.
And they did this against the Philly DL, widely regarded as one of the most talented and deep lines in the league.

Some have been too down on Mac. But, there is no question that he needs to get some late wins. He’s had opportunity. If he is in a close game with a chance to grab the win, he needs to do so. And, despite showing promise at times, if he cannot get the job done late, the team needs to reevaluate. The League does have parity. Getting key plays at key times is often the difference.
I've been lukewarm about Mac all along. His comp in the draft was David Carr, he's tracking that pretty well. He definitely had flashes of both good and bad today. I was a little unhappy about the bomb plays BoB called. He seemed to me to be expecting more out of Mac than Mac can deliver. I know it's important to keep the D honest, but if your deep ball isn't great, you shouldn't throw a bomb to prove that is the case.

For what it's worth (maybe Jack ****) I thought the throw to Henry that he got bailed out on was a timing throw that got disrupted by a shove at the top of the route
