Mahomes massive contract is really coming home to roost. I posted this in the other thread as well. But they have not been able to keep his receivers and it looks like they’re not going to keep Jones either. With Kelce out, you can see just how pedestrian this offense really is now. He’s going to have to deal with what Brady did after he won his first three Super Bowls and find ways to make receives better.

They can always restructure and push the cap down the road the problem is when the high paying players decline due to age

The Patriots defense is vastly superior to Detroit's. The Chiefs are going to have to figure it out, and quickly, because 'doing what they do' is going to add up to a bunch of losses this year. I think even with Kelce back, they're going to struggle against Jacksonville next week, unless they change up their offense a bit.

I like Mike Tirico, BUT his asinine statement last night that the lions win should have an asterisk because Kelce and Jones were out is complete BS. Injuries and hold outs are a part of the game. Lions beat them fair and square. Chiefs were at home and have Mahomes healthy.

Even after dumping Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs are one of those top-heavy teams...but now losing some of their players as the top-heaviest gain more. Orlando Brown is gone, Tyreek is gone, and maybe Jones will be (or will be hugely top-heavy).

Jones is in the last year of his contract. Clearly he wants a top-of-the-market extension. KC clearly wants to pay him his last year and let him walk. Next season he'll be 30 years old. KC clearly doesn't want to sign a 30 year old DL to a long contract at top-of-the-market rates.

I think Jones is playing this wisely. He's holding KC's feet to the fire and avoiding injury risk.

I also think KC will also stand their ground, let him show up for Week 8 expecting him to play well because he's gonna be playing for his next contract, and see what happens.

I still cannot believe they signed Taylor for all that money. His stance gives away run vs pass and, even with that advantage, he still got whipped by Hutchinson in passing situations.
