CBS News: The Commonwealth of Massachusetts "determined that it cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Jones had knowledge that he possessed the firearms in his bag at the time of the incident," according to the court filing.

Interesting...
That’s what I remember arguing in the original thread. Intent matters. If he didn’t know he had them - grabbed the wrong bag, someone else packed his bag, etc - then yeah it’s still wrong but it’s not the same as having proven intent to have them. I would be somewhat inclined to believe him as well, since it seems like one of the dumbest things in recent memory - obviously they’re gonna notice your multiple firearms… But regardless, whether one believes him or not, lack of knowledge that they were there seemed like it would be a sound defense.

FYI - for all who have no idea how the constitutional bill of rights works, and the federal and FAA gun laws work...
Do you know that you are legally able to transport registered firearms in a locked case as a check-in?
So, just maybe, he's an idiot for doing incorrectly. The public never got the details.
So, just maybe the justice system works when you have decent representation and they can prove to the 4th most anti-gun-state in the union that there is in fact a difference between a guy who is truly smuggling guns onboard with intent, and an error in packing.
Also, for those liberal-leaning folks that think you're a criminal if you own a firearm, maybe don't judge a person for exercising the same civil right that you have to freely express your views on this fan board.

As for me, I'm thrilled he's exonerated and hopefully available for every game (if Goodell doesn't overreach and penalize for a legal mistake).

Haven't been following this too closely. Were the guns legal?

Justice is like everything else--you get what you pay for.

BOOOM. Guy Fieri from the top rope! That poor DA never had a chance. She is my new favorite Masshole.

Can the rest of us stroll through Logan security with a loaded gun, claim ignorance and get let off the hook?

Not celebrating him getting a free pass for the sake of the team. How long until he screws up his second chance?
I will always celebrate not throwing the book at someone for making an honest mistake

And it's probably true (hopefully).

He can't be that stupid (hopefully).

I guess the game he posted on Instagram with him landing at an airport (or warehouse area) with guns blazing and proceeded to kill everyone was not an issue then lol...

By seasons' end, Gonzo/Ja Jones/Jon Jones will be one of if not the best outside cb trios in the nfl. Jon was a damn good outside cb last season despite what some misinformed posters here post and he's the best of the 3 right now. But he will play a lot of slot cb this year as well as rotating some at outside cb. Gonzo and Jack both have very high ceilings and just wait til December when both will hopefully be playing at full speed because they'll know the defense and won't have to think as much- just use their natural athletic abilities.
And slot cb will be great with Jon,arguably the best on the nfl or very close to it and Marcus as his understudy.
The safeties are deep, versatile and talented.
Overall, the secondary isthe best unit on tge team w/o question.
Could well turn out to be the best Pats secondary all-time in another year.

Good post, question though. Where does Marcus fit in this rotation? He was promising last season.. I actually like what he brought as a Scat back on offense as well. His speed is elite. Jon was very good at outside corner last season. He just had some issues with bigger WRs.. he excels against the Waddle and hill types..

Marcus is in a perfect situation for us...He's the main KR / PR and also backup CB in the slot...learning form a great one in Jonathan Jones.
