Montana dissing TFB ….. again.

He had 2 maybe 3 elite years out of 17. Never won a SB.

Sorry...he's in the Dan Fouts catagory

In all time QB rankings (including pre SB era) had him ranked in the 12-16 range. But I also had to adjust the entire system because originally he was coming in so much lower. I added a peak rating of total TD passes in a season compared to league average as a factor in the total rating and it bumped him up and also did a good job adjusting everything. I do think the 48 TD season in 84 is very relevant, and really for any QB their highest level of production should count for quite a bit.

Joe’s clearly irritated by Tom blowing past him in rings as Joe for a very long time was known as the GOAT.

Records are made to be broken. It’s actually good for the NFL. Someone could surpass Tom one day.

By Montanas logic the best passer I've ever seen is Aaron Rodgers

I couldn't stand watching Manning if he was my team's QB. Happy feet and overall throwing motion (was it just me, or did it look slow) was just annoying to watch.

I noticed that the term "happy feet" disappeared from the announcers lips after PEDton showed up and made it part of his routine.

I still can't stand watching him.

I remember announcers saying that Mannings happy feet were a good thing, he's constantly in motion and looking for the right play,etc...

I like how Joe was the GOAT until someone passed (lapped) him in rings and then the criteria changed for what the GOAT is.

Tainted Joe's legacy will always be tainted and now we can add bitter and senile to it.

Who'd have thought back in the 90s when we thought we'd just seen the greatest era of QB accomplishments that Montana would be calling Marino the GOAT (okay, BOAT,) because it was a given HE didn't own the title.

Joe man, just stop. You're still way more impressive than almost anybody just by being in the league, even if it was just as a journeyman QB. To be included in that also-ran tier just beneath Brady should be enough for anybody!

But I understand. The last light of the afternoon sun is still upon you, but you see night descending, like those of use who are of your age cohort. Many of us had no real greatness to see flicker, as Eliot would have it, and still we see the eternal footman hold our coats and snicker, and in short, we are afraid. We make fools of ourselves as well, trying to show that what is not, is.

No Joe, we, like you, are only what we are: limited, mortal, and in the end, ordinary.

Comfort yourself that this feeling is coming for Brady too, except losing that top spot (most likely. But don't tell the Mahomes fans.)

Joe knows who the goat is. If belichick starts butler brady doubles joe. Or maybe if troy vincent isnt reviewing catches. If Caldwell catches a football pats go on to beat the Rex Grossman led bears -thats 9 Welker catches a fairly difficult pass and Asante Samuel catches an easy pic your looking at 11 super bowls with a perfect season for brady. I'm gonna call that tripling Joe on account of that hypothetical perfect season. Nfl got lucky

Joe was great, Marino was great, Brady was the greatest. There are no time machines as far as I know to prove era’s or situations. That’s left up to the imagination. Like, would Barry Sanders be better behind the structure of the 90s Cowboys line or did chaos fit his style more? Would Marino be willing to check down in todays game and read the short game? Never saw him throw anything without incredible zip on the line, did he even have the touch to do so?

What Brady did by winning 7 chips is make Montana's four look pedestrian so now Joe can come out and say Marino was the BOAT because whether you have zero rings or 4, none of it comes close to 7.

He’s bitter over it. People barely talk about Montana or Marino any longer because Brady far outstrips them both in his accomplishments.

Maybe but it will be difficult. If Mahomes has a long career in which he stays healthy he has a shot at getting close-ish. But I don’t see another 7-Super Bowl QB in my lifetime.

They do talk about them but it is to put them further down the list of all-time greats. lol
You know who never gets mentioned anymore - Pey Pey. It's amazing to think that Brady reduced his career to a small footnote and he was the "chosen one" with the football pedigree.

You know who else has been ghosted? Drew Brees. Once Brady passed all his regular season records, he disappeared. Although I think we will hear about him plenty if Payton resurrects Wilson's career as many will say Payton made Brees.

Montana knows that before Brady, he was considered the GOAT…. but he can’t go out there and say he’s the GOAT so he attempts to gaslight people into thinking it’s someone else.

That way if people accept Brady isn’t the GOAT then the fallback is Montana.

It took Montana years to finally admit Brady was now the Goat, I can’t remember if it was after his 6th or 7th Super Bowl and now he is taking it back.

I may still have some respect for him if he said I change my mind, I still think I’m the Goat but to say it’s Dan Marino who when it it comes to the playoffs is one of the most under achieving QB’s.

It‘s sad that he can’t come to grips with it.

Salty Joe.
