It does make me feel better about it. Assuming Anderson is the backup LT (or just swing tackle in general) then the acquisitions are competing for the RT spot. That is between Sow, Reiff (if healthy, and if he's not permanently a RG now), maybe McDermott (if healthy), or the new guys.

You have to be on the initial 53 to qualify for the IR designated to return. Could go right onto IR soon and resign a cut vested veteran.

When there's a 2.7 cap hit if he stays and 4.0 to get rid of him, and he was just signed, the chances the player stays are almost guaranteed.

Like I said, Hoyer got cut under the similar circumstances, but it was about 2/3rds as much, and he really committed a felony in Bills eyes.
1.3 mill will not cause a player to be kept if he doesn’t earn a spot.
Ultimately the cost of keeping him is higher the the cost of cutting him.

And, the 4 mill would be spread between this year and next. since it’s after June 1

So your reasoning is wrong.

If they keep him he costs 2.685 mill this year.
Then if he doesn’t come back next year (which would be the case if they only kept him because of this years cap hit) it costs 2 mill.

If the my cut him 2 mill hits the cap this year and 2 mill next year.

So cutting him saves 685k this year and next year is the same either way.

I'm not sure of your last math. How does cutting him save 685 this year?

It's 4 million guaranteed. It's charged sometime.

OK I see what you're saying now. Please disregard.
