Captain,
Despite your frequent surliness and negativity, I enjoy reading your posts. You are a rare guy who will post a player he prefers in real time. Most just play the hindsight game years after the draft. And, when you are wrong, you don’t run from a bad call.
So, for most people, I wouldn’t make this comment- but I think you will actually reflect on it. Most patsfans simply cannot accept the following opinion. There is zero correlation between a good 3 cone time and nfl success. When the 3 cone is paired with other attributes, like a blistering 40, that is a better indicator, but still not a great metric.
Here is a list of the nfl wrs with the best 3 cone times:
Jeff Maehl | Oregon | 6.42 | 2011 |
Scott Long | Louisville | 6.45 | 2010 |
Dane Sanzenbacher | Ohio State | 6.46 | 2011 |
Terrence Toliver | LSU | 6.48 | 2011 |
Devon Cajuste | Stanford | 6.49 | 2016 |
Cecil Shorts | Mount Union | 6.50 | 2011 |
Damian Copeland | Louisville | 6.53 | 2014 |
TJ Moe | Missouri | 6.53 | 2013 |
Anthony Gonzalez | Ohio State | 6.54 | 2007 |
Dylan Cantrell | Texas Tech | 6.56 | 2018 |
J’Mon Moore | Missouri | 6.56 | 2018 |
This list looks like a who’s who of guys Patsfans were banging the table for in the 4th and 5th rounds of NFL past who amounted to very little.
The star of the group is Anthony González, drafted in the first round by the Colts (he also had an 4.44 40 time) and had a cup of coffee with the Patriots in an offseason. He finished his career with 99 total catches for about 1300 yards.
