The college A/B test Tua/Mac indicates that Mac can perform at the same level of Tua given the same weapons.Good? Tua had the best passer rating in the NFL. He was an MVP candidate until he sustained his 2nd, or 3rd, or whatever number it is was concussion against Green Bay. Mac was not good last season at all. The college numbers don't really matter at this point. What does matter though is supporting cast. Tyreek and Waddle blow away any Patriots duo (I guess the best being JuJu and Parker).
Do what you want, but perhaps instead of lazily insulting me, you challenge my list. Who on my list of 21 quarterbacks wouldn't you trade Mac straight up for?Let's just say ... thank God you're nothing more than some guy spending a little too much time on the Internet.
Ok whatever. In college. I'm more interested in how things have gone for each in the NFL.The college A/B test Tua/Mac indicates that Mac can perform at the same level of Tua given the same weapons.

It's just theoretical exercise that takes very little time to do. I don't see the harm in playing along. Or not, it doesn't really matter, it's just for amusement.
If the only tape you will accept to forecast Mac's future is his 2022 season, then of course he's hopeless. But of course hopelessness is your calling card.Do what you want, but perhaps instead of lazily insulting me, you challenge my list. I think Tua is the better quarterback. I said he was going to have a better 2022 season than Mac, people laughed at me, but I was right about that too. It's too bad for Tua that concussions are very likely to derail his career because he's really found himself in a great spot with that offense. Mac just isn't as good as Tua right now and his situation is less advantageous as well. That said, as I indicated, I wouldn't trade Mac for Tua because of the serious concussion history/risk.
I don't think Mac Jones is hopeless, but if the hope resides in his rookie year where a ton of his production came in blowouts (ranked 24th out of 30 qualified QBs in EPA/Play in true game neutral situations, i.e., winning probability between 20-80%), I just think that's a limited player. He has to build on that significantly, otherwise he's an okay QB who can be good if everything around him is working and he's either playing from a lead or a sustained small deficit, and I don't think that piece is all that valuable (or all that different from the Purdys and Nick Foles of the world). If the only tape you will accept to forecast Mac's future is his 2022 season, then of course he's hopeless. But of course hopelessness is your calling card.
ReallyLOL no Mac indeed sucked last year but your hypothesis that "Lots of rookie QBs look great in year 1 of the NFL because defenses have no film on them other than college" also sucks.
And you will be happy with another losing season as long as Mac is still around. You'd be happy to trade Mac for a 6th round pick and a tattooed kicker.
All the Pats need is a couple of Alabama or equivalent 1st round WRs, a 1st round RB and 1st round LT.Hilarious to have Tua at 8th and Mac at 25th given that an almost perfect A/B comparison at Alabama showed Mac to be at least as good with the same weapons.
My thing is... could any of those great QBs listed..( even though Lamar should be ahead of burrow in my humble opinion).OK, let's do it somewhat backwards. How many of these QB's would Belichick, BIB, and Klemm prefer for the 2023 season, for the 2023-2025 seasons? Beyond that, if Jones works out he'll get a huge contract.
So, who would Belichick trade for, player for player?
Give Mac chase or Higgins.. or hill and Waddle... he'd be right up there in the top 5.. Burrow looked like a different guy without chase early last season.Hilarious to have Tua at 8th and Mac at 25th given that an almost perfect A/B comparison at Alabama showed Mac to be at least as good with the same weapons.
Granted, I think Tua sans concussions was a good QB last year.
Really
Brady struggled year 2 and missed the post season. Numerous other QBs like Baker Mayfield regressed in year 2. Kyle Murray looked like the answer, but he isnt. The real deal NFL QBs have the intelligence and fortitude to elevate their game and the pretenders do not.

4 or 5 more years and well be there. Hope Bob Kraft lives to see Mac in the Super Bowl.

I love burrow, but Jackson has been an MVP.. he's the only player when healthy that no DCs can solve.. when chase went down last season burrow looked like a different QB.. Lamar has played with jags outside of Andrews.

That is the only knock on lamar.. yes burrow has taken his team deep in the playoffs.. with the weapons Lamar has now we'll see.. I like his chances this season.. had Lamar played that playoff game burrow would been sent home. How I still like burrow he's a great QB with great weapons.. good combination. All true perhaps, but I would take Burrow in the POs Eleven times out of ten ahead of LJ, even when accounting for discrepancies in personnel.
