NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Official 2023 Free Agency Thread

Brandin Cooks was worth the equivalent of a 4th round pick. Hopkins isn’t going fetch a 2nd IMO.

The Texans paid $6M of Cooks’ salary too. Basically, they gave him away for free and bought a fifth and sixth for $6M.

I think we could agree something is brewing... it just feels like a trade is going to happen.. it just has too?..
What indicates something is brewing? They seem to be going about their normal process of filling out the roster by bringing back a bunch of their own guys and replacing the guys who left with equal or slightly better talent. What makes you think something bigger is in the works?

I hope so but this seems like a normal BB off-season not the start of a Judon type off-season.

I asked the question if something was brewing... I ended the sentence with a ? So it was more of me questioning whether was something was in the works. So let me ask do you feel something will happen by way of trade? Are you comfortable with the secondary?

Agreed we've filled some needs, released a player, however the team knows better than anyone of us the roster is far from being complete..

If Brandin Cooks, who is 29, and is owed $32M over the next two years by his new team, was traded for a 2023 5th and 2024 6th, then Hopkins, who is 30, and is owed $34M over the next two years by his new team, should cost around the same. Their ask of “a 2nd plus a player” is a pipe dream.

Jeudy is at least younger and cheaper (24, about $15M over next two years), but also unproven, so his price should still not be much higher. Again, their ask of a 1st is ridiculous.

Apologies I interpreted brewing to mean something big but yes of course there is still work to be done and BB typically exhausts all avenues so a trade is always possible with him.

As to your other question I am quite confident in our secondary. With both Mills and McCourty gone we could use some depth but I think the young pieces are in place to make a really good group and Jonathan Jones should be able to takeover that veterans leader role. 3 Joneses and Dugger imo make this position as good as any on the team. Phillips and Peppers are nice too and while we all get frustrated by Bryant he's a nice depth piece at this point too.

I think a first is reasonable coming out he would be the top or top 2 wr in this draft.
I just think if it’s 14 we need a third back at least.
