Im a big no on lamar jackson...

It seems like the owners have decided to not keep making the same mistake the Browns owner made in giving Watson a guaranteed contract, Kraft wouldn’t break ranks from the rest of the owners.

I can imagine what lowners meetings are like now when this subject comes up with the Browns owner in the room.

There are some good young QB’s whose rookie contracts are ending soon and the owners do not want to hand out 250 million guaranteed contracts to them.
That's true.. as far as Watson his situation was self inflicting... the guy was arguably a top 5 QB prior to the off field issues.. your right the owners all typically stick together for the most part..

Lamar is a good passer. Baltimore just seems to like limiting his number of passes. Of course he wins as he is so you can't blame them for sticking with what works.

My biggest issue would be his health.

The Pats are set at running back.
That's cute. But seriously Lamar will in fact add A LOT to the running game. He's also an NFL MVP at the QB position. He's flat out one of the most dynamic football player in the NFL.

Lamar would immediately put the Patriots back in contention for real success. Not just the middling success possible with the limitations of a QB like Mac Jones.

No team, that really needs a QB. Can put a deal on the table Balty won't match. Simple as that.

I'm excited to see what happens with Bill/OB. They know what they're doing but have an uphill battle in front of them. He's had multiple drafts, tons of money and spent a top 15 pick on Mac. 23 was supposed to be an all in type year so I'm still hopeful we put something together thats SB worthy. I like both JuJu & Gesicki > Kobi & Smith but this offense needs a real #1 target, blocking TE and at least one starting tackle.

I don’t blame Lamar or any of the other young QB’s with contracts expiring for trying to get Watson type contracts, they look at it as if the pervert gets one why can’t we.

It sure would be interesting if they (Burrow, Lawerence and Herbert) all demanded guaranteed contracts.

That and he is a major head case
Different point of views but I believe he Quit on his team
No Thanks. I’ll judge Mac after this year. BB did him bad last year
Relative to many other NFL players we've seen, I don't recall any sort of on-field or off-field antics or trouble from Jackson to warrant being a "headcase"... although in another sense... anyone who declines $133M+ guaranteed is a headcase.

The Ravens are messing with Lamar (and he with them) for a reason. Wherever he ends up, his expiration date will occur sooner than most might expect. I would absolutely hate seeing the Patriots invest in this guy.

What if it would guarantee one AFC Championship appearance in the next 2 years?

I love LJ, and the excitement he brings.. I also like Mac and agree that Mac will be in a better working environment under some real offensive structure with BOB and be able to actually game plan towards Mac's strengths.. so let the Mac haters hate.. this kid has that competitive fire in him.. Mac wants to be great.. I feel the team will add another WR or 2 and we can have a competitive offense.. the only thing I'd have to disagree on is Lamar is dynamic.. he's the only player defensive coordinators admitted they can't solve.. now yes he runs around a little much but that can be adjusted.. but again now I'm a Mac supporter just like you and I want this year to be redemptive for Mac...
I'm definitely convinced the right plan is to move forward with Mac. I agree we haven't seen his full potential yet. I also feel he'll end up being the "good, not great" QB that many people predicted when he was drafted. IMO this means we need to move forward with building a solid team around him, a solid defense so he doesn't have to win games on his own, receivers that can fight for catches, OL that can provide both good run blocking and pass protection. Who knows, maybe he'll develop beyond my expectations, but we have to be prepared for the fact he might not. In the face of this, others may say we're better off moving on, but IMO we're not to that point yet.

I think LJ is a great player, but out offensive scheme is built more around a traditional passer rather than a run-heavy guy, so we would be paying top-dollar for a guy whose talents we couldn't use.

I'd love to see him on a team like ATL who IMO could just plug him in and go for it, but like others here, I feel this is all about the ownership circling their wagons. ATL was all-in on the Watson contest, and IMO they've been talked to. It's hard to believe that AFAIK no team other than BAL has even talked to him. All that talk about QB being the most important position in sports, less than 32 humans can do the job, you gotta go for it when they become available, yada yada. It all disappears when Park Avenue puts out the word that you better not dare to even talk to the guy.

He'd be an upgrade over Mac.

But it's really about the money.

Do you feel he would out perform Mac in this offense?
The honest answer is YES. But you're not going to get that from IBWTers. BB passed up on Lamar twice for players that flamed out in short order. "Sony won a Super Bowl" blah blah blah... he and 50 other RBs could have replicated his productions.

No true blue fan of Mac is going to answer that question honestly either. Lamar's an awesome football player. Can he improve as a passer? Of course, but he led the NFL with 36 TDs and a phenomenal 9.0 TD percentage. So he's capable. And he's not had above average WRs in his career either.

The other (unfair) knock on Lamar is his postseason record despite a 500-yard performance. He's only 26, he'll have many more chances to improve on his postseason record.

His injury history is a concern but he's healthy right now and should be 100% for the 2023 season. Lamar's upside and impact is well worth the risk.

LJ's style of play makes him a large risk if you give him the teams future. He may be healthy now, but his injury
history has taken a toll on his overall longevity.

Lamar hasn't had any major injuries. He's healthy right now. He'll have zero limitations heading into next season. We saw what that looks like up close in week 3.

...which is no guarantee he'll last the season. Again.

The 49ers were a purdy injury away from competing in Superbowl .

So you can win if the all round talent is great and there is depth .

kC has been super lucky on injury front . I want to see how they do if they miss Kelce in post season.
