Patriots Player Departure Meyers to LV Raiders

I don't want to call any names but where are the people who thought Meyers was worth 15-17 mill the market price?? They are probably hiding absurd.
I don't know if people thought he was worth that but many of us though because the WR FA market was dearth of talent, he might get that in FA.

Guess Josh just isn't a fan?
Josh is a moron. He swapped out essentially the same quarterbacks, except one is highly durable while the other is Elijah Price. Then he sends a TE1 out of town for a 3rd round pick. He's seems almost determined to completely trash his head coaching career.

You pay taxes based on where the game is played so 8 or 9 at home and then the rest on the road.
I had a feeling that was what the poster was referring to, but I didn't think that was true given you are paid by the state the team is located in. Very weird, but It is true.
Is Bedard reading this forum?
I think many in the media do especially the younger guys like Lazar, Barth and others.

Waller is no longer the same player. C'mon....

He gets a 3rd and frees up $4m in cap space.

It's obvious Carr is not a fit for his offense and sucks anyway. Jimmy has a much better chance of being successful there than Carr does...for 1/2 the price.

I don’t think the plan is basically just this year. I think Kyed, at least the way I see it, is asking what he plan/general direction is for the franchise overall the last few years. These hasnt seemed To be a clear direction. We decided to try and get by in 2020 instead of ripping the bandaid off. Then in 2021 we went crazy in free agency and took advantage of a soft schedule to make the playoffs. I took 2021 has Bill wanting to reload over rebuild by bringing in free agents with a ”win now” approach instead of continuing to build through the draft. Then last year Bill decided to bring any progress to screeching halt with the Patricia experiment resulting in a lost year. Now we let our only consistent offensive player go with a contract we easily could have matched/beat. Overall we just seem to be straddling the rebuild/win now line and getting mediocre results.
I agree. In '21 it seemed with Mac and the FAs we were stepping on the gas, in '22 with the MP/JG experiment we stomped on the brakes, and now it feels we're in limbo land. I guess we should do what Ken says and withhold judgement till we see what lineup we have on opening day, but the natives are restless.

As an aside, I just realized I've now lived half my life in 203-land and half in 603-land. There was that year or so in 914-land, but we deny that ever happened.

Good year to Tripple Dip @WR.
Nah. Lot of Meh WRs in the draft. I'm not even sure there's a true beast among them. Same with the QBs.
Also, word of caution, that might be a reason so many CBs coming out look so good.

My God, Jameson Williams? I would trade Thornton and our 2023 1st round pick for Jameson.
What did I just say… Thornton is the exact same height and weight as Williams. So if you’re hating on Thornton because he’s “skinny” it’s far more likely due to the fact he’s a Patriot.
Ok, Marcus Jones looked good on those 78 receiving yards but you're comparing him to one of the very best WRs in the NFL who had 1700 receiving yards this past season. I don't think the comp works.
He is a threat to take it to the house whenever the ball is in his hands. Marcus plays CB, he also returns kicks and punts, as well as playing some offense.
I mean you're really in fantasy land if you're trying to convince yourself that the Patriots may have the equivalent of Tyreek Hill and Jameson Williams in Marcus Jones and Tyquan Thornton.
Williams has done nothing in the NFL yet… one catch. They won’t ask Marcus to play offense exclusively either, so there’s no one size fits all here. You can’t see the future, stop pretending you can.

2023 is one of the weakest FA WR class to date. That could even be seen by Ray Charles.

Consolation prize is Marcus Jones at WR? Really? I can't wait for him to get injured for playing a position he isn't familiar with while also killing our starting PR and possibly slot CB positions. Genius on all levels.

Waller is done.
Says who? He was a beast in 2020. He's been plagued by injuries since. He's reportedly healthy now. Great trade for NYG. I would be doing cartwheels if the Patriots had made this trade. Henry and Waller in two-tight end formations... YES PLEASE!

I already addressed the fact that I was wrong.

Sorry, I hadn't seen that other post before sending mine... Has this thread been merged with another one?

Ever think the reports of his health might be to prop up his value?

2020. 2 years ago...

Turns 31 in September.

Too many injuries which take longer to heal for older players.

50yd I like the class I think it's underrated I think they're some nice finds in there.

His speed is in question. Slot guys without outstanding speed are not going top15.
and everyone regrets not taking DeAndre Hopkins, Dez Bryant, Davante Adams, Allen Robinson, etc. higher. He is certainly not limited to the slot. He has the size and the technique to play on the outside. As well as every other measurable. Most draft experts see him going in the range of 14.

Yes, he's a twig, but I don't think he's that good either. Seems like he's definitely in for a much bigger role in 2023 so we'll see how it goes.

Williams by the way is a little shorter and he has a thicker frame. Did you watch this guy in Alabama's offense? His skills far exceed Thornton's.

A+ draft pick. Marcus was an exciting player in his rookie season. I'm curious to see how they utilize him but his preference seems to be DB and ST. I like the idea of him in the offense too but we'll see how big his role is there.

There's a couple who might pan out - Johnston, Addison, etc. - but there won't be much that I can see after round 2. Makes it hard to triple dip.

EDIT: Caveat...I'm certainly no draft expert.
