The optimistic case for Mac Jones

You (and other Mac homers) keep intentionally confusing criticism with rooting that he fails. These are not the same thing
You are correct. However, both exist - and the latter is what is something that has been frustrating. Just like there's criticism and constructive criticism. You can have productive discussions about one, but we tend to get more of the wrong kind in here, and it leads to threads with 100+ posts of misery, with maybe a handful of reasonable posts mixed in.

My only pushback would be the booing of Mac and cheering of Zappe is what prompted Mac to stop throwing interceptions after his return from injury. for better or worse this is a results based business.
I agree with that. His emergence pushed Jones, which isn't a bad thing and competition at that position is something you always want to see. And given Belichick's history, that will likely be an issue for the duration of whoever is under center moving forward.

Agholor is a free agent, he fumbled the ball, he can take a long walk off a short pier.

Trent had the unenviable task of blocking off the edge when opponents seemingly knew the play. I believe that’s why he jumped offsides so often. He’s the only tackle we have on contract, I think he’s salvageable. But we need one other starter and some depth at OT.

He didn't have this problem when he was blocking Brady's blindside in his first stint with the Patriots. But I am not only talking about his false start penalties. There were far too many plays down the stretch where he completely missed blocks. Here are some examples of his poor effort or awareness.

I'm with you for those people, just chiming in for those who genuinely want to see a winning team and don't feel like Mac can get us over the top.

That is my take from last year with a few exceptions. I think we can give up on Agholor. And I am down on Trent Brown because he clearly quit on the team at the end of the season.
Brown got his ring, got his contract and retired from football... Agholor showed flashes, but could never stay healthy enough to be a contributing factor..

We need to continue to sure up the smaller moves like the Connor McDermott singing, make a tender off to myers.. if BB is really all about the culture he'll find a way to retain Myers and jones..

Next attain a game changer, preferably 2 if possible on offense..

That had everything to do with scar being here!!!

He's definitely going to have to prove he can, no question. Hopefully, the team makes some moves in free agency to help make that happen.

Mac deserves another shot. Give him more weapons, a good OC and he might blossom into an elite QB.

BB made some bad decisions this time last year... let's see if he will make the right one and actually get some threats for My man Mac!

Mac protected the ball pretty well in 2021. My guess is that going into the 2022 season Judge/Patricia were coaching Mac to throw the ball to Parker even when he wasn't open to create forced "contested catch" opportunities

I think playing left tackle at right tackle money didn't sit well with him. Just an ugly - and disappointing - situation.
I am not sure that it was money related. Scar said that TB needs to be pushed to be motivated and do well. The OL coach and overall offense probably played a large role in him checking out.

It's unimaginable to even say " coaching " with judge involved... lol. But you're right,

That contributed to alot of the early season turn overs... I'm just excited to see Mac rebound this upcoming season and get that stench out from 2022

If you go back and watch film on him, he's actaully got a pretty good first step for a guy his size. It was sort of funny to watch some of those games back and look at the plays in slow-motion because he was off either right at the snap or even slightly before, more often than not.
It was never a problem for him until this season, which leads me to believe it was a systematic failure.

The QB can make the OL look like a brick wall.

Brady did. Mahomes does. Burrows despite all the injuries to his OL was good enough to overcome the issue.

Brady= Evans, Godwin, Jones
Mahomes = kelce, Smith- Schuster
I'd say that will help an o line

The QB and the OC can. You can point to games where Brady was under duress, and he and McDaniels adjusted to roll him right or left away from the pressure, or create plays to get the ball out quickly. We saw neither of that last season.

It's often telling... when Mac was beyond frustrated and yelling at the sidelines Patricia said nothing!!!! McDaniels grew up in the organization and had a great synchronization with TB.. Mac and BOB will develop the same..

You didn't watch many Bucs games this season I take it.

Agholor is a free agent, he fumbled the ball, he can take a long walk off a short pier.
Agholor made that great catch in the Pittsburgh game on the 50/50 ball but they definitely can do better. Resigning Meyers on the other hand is of significant importance. I think BOB can make it work with Meyers, Parker, Bourne (and a replacement for Agholor) and a running game led by Stevenson (who's also a good receiving back). Hunter Henry is a good TE as well.

That was in reffence to an earlier post with someone.. that's regarding the personel Brady has had since he left NE.. so yes to answer your question I have watched them this season...

Agholor puts the ball on the ground too much.

Meyers is good, but he is good the way Mohamed Sunu in his prime was good. A solid passion receiver, consistent as anyone in the league, great willing blocker... but he's not fast. He helps you move the chains, but isn't flipping the field.

A reasonable contract I could see, but they can't overpay. Christian Kirk got overpaid, you can't pay Meyers that much.
