OT: Minnesota Vikings Eyeing Trade for Mac Jones as Quarterback Upgrade

The Vikings should wait for the battle in New York to play out. Fields or Wilson will be their best option, I think.
This right here is why we need a puke reaction

The next Vikings legend. Lol

Mac is quite talented in his own way. Not surprising he would do well in preseason. The question remains whether he will continue to panic under pressure or when the play otherwise breaks down.

I don't know about that. It's pretty close though. Mac Jones has at least been in a playoff game. This is an incredibly low bar though.
Darnold has more talent. I really liked him at USC and hope he learned a thing or two with Shanahan. I'll be rooting for him to have success in Minnesota.
if Mac becomes a pro bowl QB with another team, it will be the single biggest embarrassment for this franchise of all time
He may resurface and have a feel good year like Chris Chandler did in 1998 with the Falcons when all the stars are aligned. He needs most of everything to line up in order to have success: creating OC, O-line, running game to open up the passing game and a defense to keep things close. We saw what happened when opposing defenses punched the Pats initial attack in the mouth starting in late 2021 which exposed Mac/Pats passing game. Mac just doesn't have the physical makeup to drop back 40+ times a game and sling it around the yard. There were many games where you'd see Mac's arm fatigue.

Such a pointless stat lol. Wow Sam Howell and Mason Rudolph are probably studs too!
Just saw Macuar attempt an 8 yard throw to his RB with no one between them and bounced it 2 yards short... Amazing.

You don't think BoB was a decent OC?
How can you really grade him as terrible or decent? It was a terrible situation both in terms of overall talent and a QB that was damaged goods.

Pretty much impossible to levy judgment.

Wow, such enduring hate. All the more impressive if he has the top QB rating with throws like that.

IMO. Mac's fatal problem is that he is panic prone. Can't be a successful NFL QB if you crack under pressure.

Watching highlights from the Falcons-Jags preseason game and Mac had a very on-brand play, where he got pressure in the pocket, could've taken a subtle, calm, half-step up and to his left in order to buy a bit more time, either to throw the ball (or it appeared there was room to scramble); instead his eyes dropped, his feet went flat and his hips squared, and he did that quintessential Mac-shuffle into the worst possible spot in the pocket, where he basically collapsed into the pass-rushers and took an ugly sack.

He is who he is.

I am not a fan of Bill O'Brien. I think he did a terrible job here. At least the results were bad. No doubt about it.

However, had had an accomplished track record, and has had success his first stint here and at all his subsequent stops before returning to New England. We should have out performed the Patricia offense by leaps and bounds just based on his proven ability to run a pro level offense. We didn't.

Mac Jones and his failings exacerbated whatever else was wrong with the team last year is the point.

Still think Mac could become an okay starter in the right situation at some point but i don’t put much into the preseason performance. Look at Kenny pickett’s stats his first 2 preseasons, they are meaningless.

“Patriots ways”? I see what he did there. Ouch

Pats got a 6th because everyone knew they had to sell, he didn't wanna be here and they didn't want him, everyone knew they were starting over. Plus he looked like a real mess the prior year. The Jags don't have to sell, and he has a slightly fresher coat of paint making decent plays in the preseason so his stock rises.
Mere PR.

Complete new start under new HC. He could have stayed.

I hated the player he became in NE, but the player is a first round talent that we discarded for a late round pick.

This move necessitated drafting Maye. But who’s our LT?

I don’t even understand what Pederson means here. “Revert to his Patriots ways and we have to remind him he’s in Jacksonville”? What? Is he saying he forgets he’s not the QB1? Or he gets skittish randomly for no reason? Or he gets a pissy attitude? Not sure what “Patriots ways” Mac would have that could be overwritten just by reminding him he’s not in New England.

Jacksonville will not trade him. He is a very good backup.

Mac had waaay more talent on his college team than the Pats ever gave him! Then the Matt Patricia as OC disaster! I doubt anyone could have thrived in that environment.

He will be a capable back up QB in the NFL, I wonder what would have happened if they didn't trade him away for a ham sandwich and actually drafted weapons for him. Maye behind this O line and with no WR is destined for the same fate as Mac, hopefully the Pats can get a 2027 7th round pick for him after next year.

Like ALL Alabama QBs.

When they reach the NFL everyone is good. 4 players went in round 1 from Bama excluding Corky - RB,WR,OT and CB.
Then the Matt Patricia as OC disaster!
The pass plays that MP called were good.

Corky could not get the ball there. Patricia never screamed and yelled at Corky, but BOB did and you got 4 - 13. Isnt it obvious by now that Andy Reid could not call plays that would make Corky win? BOB got hired like you all begged for and it was worse leading to BB being fired. Corky left a path of destruction like a tornado.
I doubt anyone could have thrived in that environment.
No, you aint in Bama no more.

Its called the real world.
He will be a capable back up QB in the NFL,
Remains to be seen. If he doesnt, his fans will blame the Pats for damaging his fragile psyche.

No team thought that Corky was worth anything of value and he went to the highest bidder.

3 years of game film are out and defenses know how to play Corky. Crowd the LOS and defend the dink and dunk. DBs play off his WRs baiting Corky into believing the long ball is there, but as soon as Corky throws the DB moves in for the kill. INC or INT.
Maye behind this O line and with no WR is destined for the same fate as Mac, hopefully the Pats can get a 2027 7th round pick for him after next year.
We shall see. Everyone says that Maye has an arm.
