Pre-Free Agency 2023

If Bill paid Meyers in the top 20, which he refused to pay Welker, he'd have to pay Meyers over $17M per year. Paying him around $12-14M would put him around top 25.

So I'll ask it again, why would Bill pay Meyers top 20 money for a slot WR who can't shed man coverage?
Who is saying he will? I doubt anyone will pay Meyers $17M AYS. I think he can make between $12.5-15M and doubt Bill pays even that.

JC Jackson misses the Pats I guess…

He’s not getting cut or traded now - Chargers are already 20m over the 2023 cap and it’ll add another $15m dead cap charge to do so now. Post June 1, there’s no additional charge, so possible he could be moved in camp if things go south. Isn’t he hurt? What could have happened to cause him to get upset and post this - they think he’s dogging his rehab? If it were a Brady retirement tribute it would have included pictures of Brady and not just pictures of himself…..

I would offer a 4th rounder to bring him back with a renegotiated deal if he wants to come back that bad.

No team other than the Pats will be willing to fix his broken mental state.

It would be awesome to get him back and get him playing like he did in 21.

I don't think Bourne is,, but he can play anywhere if necessary. The guy I see as a natural slot receiver is Marcus Jones.

At 5'8", he'll always be very limited at CB, particularly as more big WRs come into the league. As a twitch ankle-breaker, getting him the ball in space is a nightmare for the opposing defense.

I know he has only limited experience there, but I'd love to at least see if this is his future - I think it very well might be.

It would solve a huge problem for the Pats. WRs that can move like Marcus Jones are worth a lot more than undersized CBs.
No thanks keep Marcus Jones on Defense in the Slot and Draft either Zay Flowers - Josh Downs or Tank Dell they are going to be Elite from the Slot.

C'mon BB a second Rounder for Tee Higgins who.can bring down Mac's moon balls quite easily.
If his asking price is “outrageous” then it becomes a one year rental, unless the Pats franchise him (18m cap hit this year to franchise at WR and likely to increase to 20m by 2024). Cincy would also want more than a 2nd. I’m not sure that Higgins’ skill set necessarily works in every offense, as dominant as he has been at times for Cincy.

That’s why my dream acquisition would be Godwin. He is like Diggs in the sense that he is likely to thrive in any offense and also would be in better position to hit the ground running in year 1, given that Brady brought his favorite parts of the Patriots offense to Tampa.

Hey can't get something for nothing if we could draft them we wouldn't be in this position.

Are you sure Godwin completely healed from his injury?

Nah, this is why finding them in the draft is so important. He's good, but he's not worth the money if what I think he's asking for.

Looking at least a first and third and I would pay it.
Split the years, I'm all in on that price...

edit - he wants to be the highest paid receiver... Nah, I'll pass on that... he's not even the best wr on that team...

12.5 is the very edge of my range with Meyers, Anything else will be an overpay in years 3 and 4.

I can see Bill going up to $12.5 but there are posters here saying 8-10. I mean, if Meyers is willing to stay for that, it would be great. I just don't see it happening if someone offers him $14, why would he stay?
