We're on to the OFF-Season

Even if one of their mid round TE’s worked out they’d still have signed one or both free agent TE’s they did. They roster three and got rid of the FB position. Drafted TE’s have a ridiculous failure rate on every team. That’s exactly what happened. They had money to spend because they cleared cap space in 2020, because they were smart. If the Pats didn’t pay Henry another team would have. The market determines worth.
Well, none of the drafted TEs worked out. Zero. We only had 2 TEs in '21 and '22 so you're wrong. We set the market by signing a bunch of FAs the very 1st day. We never let the market get settled, instead we outbid ourselves.

Tom Brady lost this season because of coaching, so did the Pats. The Jags and Giants won because of coaching. You need both… guys like you always say we have no talent. We had no talent in 2014, 2016 or 2018 either… you’re a one note wonder on that flute.
Bucs and Pats players played like crap so they lost. Jags and Gints players played well so they won. We don't have the talent required to compete against the elite teams. Four years = zero playoff wins.

2014: GOAT + Goat TE + JE11 + Playoff Danny

2016: GOAT + JE11 + Sweet Feet + Playoff Danny

2018: GOAT + Goat TE + JE11

Wrong again smooth shoes.

This is the problem, you guys are always here telling us Bill stumbled and bumbled his way into 6 rings… something nobody else but Chuck Noll has approached… but Bill is the luckiest SOB in history… sounds legit.
All made up by you. You're a one note johnny.

Asiasi has played and played well for Cincinnati. Rookies take time to develop, the Pats weren’t willing to wait. Keene’s career never got started due to injury, that’s the NFL draft in a nutshell.

Yeah coaching played no role in any of these cases. That’s why the Pats had a help wanted sign on their front lawn the day after the season ended and the Jags/Giant head coach are Coach Of The Year front runners. Your ability to ignore the obvious is impressive.

LaCosse, Izzo, Tomlinson, Berry, Thomas, Asiasi, Keene, Smith.

None of these drafted a/o FA TEs worked out. That's a lot of misses in 4 years. Again, lack of talent or to your point, poor coaching.

Nobody is ignoring anything but you, because you attribute a team's success to coaching. You're a one note johnny.

LaCosse, Izzo, Tomlinson, Berry, Thomas, Smith.
Izzo was a 7th rounder, beyond that none of these guys you listed were drafted. Berry wasn’t even a TE. Good grief.

Henry and Jonnu have worked out, the Pats haven’t had a QB or offensive coach worth a damn to utilize them.

Watch magically as Bill O’Brien brings the Pat’s offense back from the dead with the same exact players. You’ll go silent at that point.

No, I don’t attribute a teams success to just coaching, I attribute it to team… and you mock me for it and tell us QB’s are all that matter. It’s a fangirl mentality… you may as well be cheering for Taylor Swift.

Learn how to read, I said drafted a/o FAs. Keene, Asiasi were drafted. Berry was listed as a TE. Go argue with the Patriots.

Lol, no they haven't for what we're paying them. Their production isn't that of $12.5M/yr TEs. Buy yourself a clue. McDaniels was OC in 2019-2021, TE production was pathetic.

I hope you're right. I have my doubts.

All you mention is coaching. Over and over and over again. You're a one note johnny.

Berry was a special teamer with us, he was a TE the same way Slater is a WR. The Colts?

They have him listed as a DE.

Randy Moss didn’t do anything with the Raiders in 2006, in 2007 he set single season records. By your estimation a players talent level fluctuates like power levels on a video game… it’s cute, but not very realistic.
I hope you're right. I have my doubts.
You’re a negative nancy, I’d expect nothing else.

I mention team over and over. I don’t believe in a sport with 63 man rosters and a horde of coaches that one QB controls the entire destiny of a team. That’s hero worship bullsht.

I wonder if they’ll want somebody bigger.

He's likely blocking a corner in a scheme like this - Jonnu's plenty big enough to do that. And he really does well with the ball in his hands - look where he is in the YAC ratings despite not that many receptions. So it's a good fit because he doesn't have to run fancy routes or make tough catches - things he hasn't shown he can do well to date.

Patricia had him running some WR screens that got sniffed-out by everyone on the defense and their grandmothers. The essence of the plays shown here is that it's the same motion but very different plays, and so nobody can sit on any one of them.

Not for me , surely there must be a younger/better player with similar skills obtainable ?

Nah, the coach isn't a good enough communicator for KVN.

I appreciate Judon's off-season recruitment arcs every year though, it's always fun.

We are in a good sport, cap wise, given the number of players signed.

Bears are really swimming in it.

Now with this cap space what do we do .

Needs by priority

OT
WR1
CB1
FS
Kicker
Punter

Nice to have
FB
Slot receiver
TE1 - replace Henry in 2024
NT
OG backup

I am hearing that premium OTs might be drafted by 10 and rest all are technically overdrafts at 14. Since 14 is technically the highest we are drafting if there is a impact player, we stay pat and draft the player .

Witherspoon is one whom everyone raves about .
Darnell Washington and Rashee rice are other two offensive players i would love is to draft even if it means trading up .

In FA with 34 million and few restructures maybe we should get Mike Mcglinchey , Jonathan Jones, Peppers and Meyers if possible . Else we might need to draft one more veteran who can come on discount like toney .

It would be great if the Pats can land a Franchise LT. OT should be priority #1. CB or WR should be priority #2. FS and MLB would be #3 for me.

This is a weak WR class so no point expending first 3 rounders on WR and considering our history better to stay put . This is definitely a very deep TE class . So we should double dip again on TE . Even if we get a noah gray type in 5th or 6th round that's fantastic . Currently both Henry and Jonnu Smith production are in noah gray territory especially Jonnu .

Anyone else surprised by the LB franchise tag amount being the second-highest position after QB?

Not particularly, but that QB franchise tag number really isn't bad, even if you did it twice in a row. Kyler Murray's cap number is more than that.

I wonder if the Pats will be interested in Dre’Mont Jones in free agency. If I am recalling correctly, they were very high on him coming out of OSU and he would pair well with Barmore to augment their interior pass rush.

Daron Payne would be an ideal addition next to Barmore because of his ability to both stop the run and get to the QB at 320 lbs and there is an Alabama connection but I highly doubt that Bill will want to match the big offers that he will likely get on the open market, after he balled out during his contract year. I am sure that Washington would love to keep him, but they may not be willing to sink that much money into their DL. They are already paying Allen big money, and Montez Sweat and Chase Young will want to get paid in the coming years.

Payne showed early in his NFL career that he could be a stout run-defender from the nose tackle position, with his 86 defensive stops against the run the most in the NFL from 2018-20.

“He established career highs in tackles, sacks [11.5] and tackles for loss [18.] He was third in the NFL in TFLs, two ahead of Allen, who missed the final game.”
