Mayo negotiations + OC interviews next week

Kingsbury's situation is interesting. He can move to a low tax country and keep most of the $$ coming his way (23-27 @ $5.5M). The world is pretty cool when you've got a lifetime supply of real money. Just take a year to mess around and see what emerges, football or something else. All riding the back of NFL ownership's ego. Pretty cool. What on earth would cause him to want to be an O coordinator?
Not saying he won't get another chance anyway but the motivation to be an O coordinator would be to help convince another team to give you 5.5 a year too.

The OC darkhorse who intrigues me is Chad O'Shea. If I ever come upon any rational basis for this, I'll get back to you.

I cannot find fault in this logic. I'd like to have you expand on this.

My thought is BoB is going to want the reins after Bill leaves. IF they intend on handing that to Jerod, then BoB likely isn't coming here, unless they put him on the carrot plan, unlikely, as then he leaves and Jerod must start over. But O'shea could, in theory, come in and be on Mayo's staff once the transition is complete.

Or maybe BOB looks at this like McDaniels as a stepping stone to getting another coaching job. No teams is going to hire him as a HC right off the bat after his Texans debacle.

Understood. I'm not sure most people would want to every work that hard again. Human beings are naturally programmed to work and live pretty much like dogs - short bursts of intense work followed by long rests. A small % of us are temperamentally comfortable with 80 hour weeks, and there's no reason to think that overlaps significantly with football coaching ability. So if you've got money in the bank ($20+M) where you can live a glorious life in a tropical country and never eat into your capital...would be tempting.

I'd never be back

Goes back to that word! COACHING. BB even said himself before you are only as good as the people around you! Dabol has to start being considered as one of the NFLs great coaches. He fixed Josh Allen, made Daniel Jones look like an actual QB, has his team totally bought in!

You are right for one year. There seems to be a lot of one year blip NFL teams that flatten out in Y2 and onward. Having watched this for awhile, I don't react to 1 year blips anymore. I wish Dabol all the best, clearly better than Judge.

Can we pump the brakes on this a bit? Good coach, to be sure. I'd like to see the guy get a ring or two before we anoint him. Your points are valid, but his resume is still incomplete. I think he's off to a great start, and his future is extremely bright.

Would be great if Patriots could extend the transparency to divulging which external candidates (if any) they are interviewing for the OC position. Other teams do this all the time.
Hoping the ultra secret CIA bullish* will end once and for all.
Its football, its not war,

It builds fan interest and loyalty.

From all I'm reading, Kubiak sounds like a dream candidate. Any info/views on him?

I’ll take that to mean no you cannot back up what you said
Kendrick Bourne: “Patriots are implementing a new offence”

Andy Casserly: “Patriots are staying with the offence they’ve always run”.

Never double down on a bad hand Casserly.

Are we interviewing anyone on MLK?
Will we make interviews public or just the fact we are looking?

Which Kubiak?
From The Athletic:

Gary Kubiak

The 61-year-old most recently served as the Vikings’ offensive coordinator in 2020 before stepping aside in 2021 as his son, Klint, ran the Vikings offense and Kubiak served as an adviser to Mike Zimmer, then the team’s head coach. Zimmer, who like Belichick is a defense-first, no-nonsense Bill Parcells disciple, called that time with Kubiak some of the most rewarding of his entire career. Though Kubiak has ruled out becoming an NFL head coach again, he may be open to a return to the league in a different role. Kubiak won a Super Bowl as head coach of the Broncos (after beating the Patriots in the AFC title game). If Belichick wants to run the wide-zone offense that’s so popular around the league, Kubiak would be an ideal candidate. His mentor was Mike Shanahan, and in return, Kubiak mentored Kyle Shanahan, whose zone-rushing scheme has been so successful.

Reportedly, Bill O'Brien is not keen on the OC job. However, reading into the details, it's coming from Bedard (so might all be BS anyway) and the concern seems to stem from O'Brien wanting "clarity" on whether he will have "autonomy" over things like bringing in some of his own assistant coaches.

To me it just sounds like negotiations. He'll come along but he wants to bring some of his guys. In other words - he doesn't want to be saddled with Patricia and Judge.

If Belichick thinks O'Brien is the best man for the job, he should bite the bullet and give BOB the autonomy and allow him to hire his staff.

so...I. Mega-smart Joe Kerr, decided to relocate to Thailand like Swifty Klifty...gloriously cheap living, basket girls, Pho noodle soup everywhere...weekend trips to Phuket beaches and islands...yes sir,ol' Joe Kerr is a GENIUS!!!

How many snake bites per year in Thailand?

Vipers, cobras and kraits

In a typical year between 7,000 and 9,000 Thais do get bitten by snakes and there are typically a few dozen deaths, mainly in rural areas where there are more venomous species and victims do not seek medical treatment quickly enough.

Hmmmm....anyone know what the laws are concerning inheritances in Thailand? Poor ol' Unca Joe...went out in the backyard of his hootch to pick orchids and....well, they do call it the garden of Eden. Send condolences to the"Should Have Stayed Put In Rhode island" fund c/o "Tunescribe Told The Stupid Ba$tard To Stay Put" foundation.

Brilliant offensive mind
No fear of leaving in a year to be a bead coach.
Would absolutely be a dream hire.
