Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

What is their defense most weak at and who’s available to fill those needs?

I believe there secondary is weak there starting linebackers missed a lot of games Ramsey might be available if they can get a 2nd for Carr and flip two 2s for Ramsey

Zero benefit to sitting behind Brady? I'm sure it would help.
Why would it help? You think Brady is going to take the young pup under his wing and teach him all the tricks? Gimme a break...

Brady has shown time and again that all he cares about is focusing on being the best QB he can be, not helping his backups.
If they keep him starting next year, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he looks shaky in the regular season and gets benched. We see it all the time.
Nothing wrong with a young QB having periods of shakiness. It makes him better in the long run far more than holding a clipboard would.

No. Brady hardly needs to do anything or go out of his way. Purdy just has to watch while up close.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh….. so watching Tom Brady for 2 years is going to magically impart some sort of specialized knowledge in a guy that would exceed the knowledge he would gain from actually playing 2 years. You cannot possibly be serious.

Now don’t get me wrong…. San Fran may very well decide signing Brady is in their own best interest to make a run at a couple Super Bowls, but that’s a whole ‘nother matter. It is absurd to say Purdy improves his own game more by holding a clipboard for 2 years than he would by playing.

Lolwut he didn’t?

That’s a year old post. Mahomes a month later would have the worst second half in AFCCG history.

Anyway the Vikings are absolutely sh.tting the bed as expected meaning Bucs are doomed to die in San Fran.

The Vikes are a strange team this year. As that Fox cartoon told us, they are 11-0 in 1 score games, which is indeed very impressive. But it also leads one to believe that maybe they just aren't as good as their record suggests.

They are a 13-4 team who gave up more points than they scored. That right there is kind of extraordinary as well.

It's stupid of him not to have deleted/edited that. I know what he meant (Brady didn't do it in his first 3 years as a starter, because 2002), but what he actually wrote is incorrect.

It is an idiotic tweet on so many levels, none the least of which is because even if he said what he meant to say, he is implying that 3 consecutive CCG appearances with 2 consecutive Super Bowl appearances and 1 Championship is better than 2 SB appearances with 2 Championships.

You can have your extra CCG appearance, bro, I'll take the extra Lombardi.

So aside from Jensen can anyone recall if the Bucs might have some starters healthy next week who didn’t play in the 49ers regular season game?

That was a pretty cowardly throw by Cousins to end the game. A 3 yard throw when he needed 8 yards lol. At least make it a 6 yard throw. Even when Cousins plays well, he still chokes in the big games.

I guess that means Bucs plays 49rs if they beat Dallas,. Yuck.

Yeah that's the throw you make on 3rd and 8 if everything is covered to set up 4th and 4. On 4th down, you gotta throw it downfield even if you are forcing it.

If the Vikings won, they would have had to play the 49ers away and they would have been huge underdogs, while the Bucs (if they beat the Cowboys) would have had to beat the Eagles then probably the 49ers in the NFCCG.

This way, it's the Cowboys then the 49ers and the Giants could beat the Eagles so if all things break for the Bucs, they could host the NFCCG.

In any scenario, baring a huge upset by the Vikings, the Bucs would have had to beat the 49ers. The benefit of playing them earlier is the possibility of hosting the championship game. At the end of the day, if you can't beat a team with a QB that has played 5 games in his career, you simply don't belong. If the Bucs win tomorrow, i would bet on Tom Brady in a huge game than someone who hadn't started a game two months ago.

Looks like it's a divisional round exit if the Bucs advance again

I would have rather the Bucs either lose to the Eagles next week OR if they pulled off the upset and had to still face the 49ers at least it’s in the NFCCG and even getting there would make this slog of a season worth it. But now it’s overwhelmingly likely they just get popped in the divisional round next week. Lame.

What difference does it make when they lose or to whom, if they do lose? Brady and the Bucs by extension play to win the SB, if they want to win the SB, they have to beat the 49ers. Whether it's an NFCCG or a divisional game, it means absolutely nothing to Brady's legacy. If they beat them, they can host the championship game. The Eagles are shaky, they can lose to the Giants.
