Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

BB has become overconfident. The NE roster needed a rebuild where he tanks not just 2020 but 2021 too to rebuild with high draft picks. Plus he shouldn't have gone on a free agent spending spree so that he could save for a massive cap room for 2022 and later.

Instead BB went for the reload and has built a roster full of mediocre players. The team is built to be mediocre for years to come.
The Patriots need to bottom out for elite young talent and I don't think a HC chasing a wins record will let that happen.

I hope he doesn't go there for obvious reasons. No way he comes back here as much as I'd like to see it. Other than that Tampa couldn't be a better match for him IMO hopefully they do whatever it takes to get him to stay.

The mistake was not doubling down in '22. Once you had the 1st Rd franchise QB, Barmore & Rham, and after going 10-7 and making the playoffs; Bill should've gone after a CB1, WR1, OT & elite-LB during FAcy & the draft. At least we could've seen how far Mac can take the team. Obviously, getting a young creative play caller from College/NFL was a must.

Instead, we got Parker, Montgomery & Wilson, a reach for a G and WR. Then he installs the 2 most unqualified friends as coaches to lead the offense.

You're correct, this is a mediocre team and will continue to be because Bill's way isn't cutting it anymore in today's NFL w/o elite talent. He no longer has the
gravitas to elevate these younger mediocre players to play above their talent level.

It's very much a popularity contest. Thus extremely flawed. Brady got robbed of a prowbowl in 2020 and MVP in 2021.

Almost everyone agrees that Brady passed Manning years ago but the HOF monitor still had Manning as the highest rated QB until last year. Why? Because Manning had outdid Brady in probowls, all pros, and MVPs. Rodgers in third is rediculous.

That’s just Pro Football Reference’s own stupid calculation. It’s not exactly some iron clad law of the land.

The only success he's had as a head coach has been with Tom Brady as his quarterback. That's a fact. Doesn't mean he's a bum, and he may very well have made significant contributions to the Patriots Dynasty, but without Brady he has a losing record as a head coach, has never won a division title, and he's 1-2 in the postseason.

And Green Bay rewarded Rodgers by making him the highest paid QB at 50+ million per year. That is hilariously stupid especially choking with the best WR of the past 5 years.

Green Bay Packers fans shouldn't be surprised though with the recent choke job. Rodgers have been choking since his last and only SB.
I decided for a change to watch and listen to the announcers in a game. I chose the Det@GB game.

On a quick slant Rodgers threw a pass at the WRs feet and a little behind him. Mike Tirico commented that the WR didn't come up with the pass, not that it was uncatchable.

Another time GB needed a long pass completion and Tirico noted that Rodgers is "the best in the business" at that. I guess that's because of the one hail mary he threw a few years ago that the Lions botched.

At least I didn't have to hear Rodgers referred to as "Captain Comeback" again. Whoever came up with that name for him clearly hasn't been paying attention.

It's even bigger than that for Brady's legacy. It's not just the fact that Brady left and hasn't missed a beat but also the fact that conversly Belichick immediately faceplanted. It's not like that after the separation both kept being great, nope only one did. It would be like if after the Beatles broke up John did what he did while Paul went on and formed Limp Bizkit.
The only problem that I see with your analogy is that John and Paul were both players in their group. Bill is not a player in his.

That was the Super Bowl against the Eagles for me. Not only Patricia and him made one of the worst QB's to win a SB look like Joe Montana but by not putting Butler in, it showed to me that he would rather lose and stubbornly stick to his decision, rather than admit the blunder and give the team the best chance to win. It completely soured Belichick for me, and the stink never went away. I never bought the ''we're going to do what's best for the team'' mantra again.
Better to let Bill go too early than too late is applicable here for Kraft. In fact, it's already late. It became late when Bill ran the GOAT QB out of town. Instead of getting the 7th SB win with us Brady got it with Moe, Larry and Curly as his coaches.

They're finally healthy

This is the only place we can have honest discussions about Bill. The main forum is a safe space for Bill's biggest fans.
probably can do it more in the main forum now since a certain member is gone lol

Well, IF there is literally any chance of a playoff run it will be based around being healthy at the correct time.
The key is Jensen for any hope of a deep playoff run. If he is able to come back in probowl form that is.

With Jensen the Bucs might have more success with all the 1st down runs they love to do. And everyone knows by now that they will continue to do it.

Then it won't always be 2nd and long all the time. 2nd down passes will be easier and 2nd down runs will be more manageable.

Then maybe they'll get a fresh set of downs without having to go to a do or die 3rd down as often.

Danny Amendola had it right but said it the wrong way.

No, Brady was not the Patriot Way. BB is the Patriot Way. But what made the Patriot Way successful was the glue that kept it together and that glue was Tom F Brady. Without Brady, the Patriot Way isn't superior to everyone else.
If that's true, why wasn't the Patriot Way implemented by Bill in Cleveland?

if Brady has time, then the Bucs are the most dangerous team in the postseason.

It just took a little longer. The 1999 Ravens were basically them team Bill had built.
