Moving him to a new position is fine, Patricia is smart and can provide value somewhere… just not on the offensive side of the ball
Patricia seems best at off-line activities. He does poorly in real-time management. The less he's responsible for in the heat of the moment game management the better. Analysis vs. implementation.

Have also heard Brown resented the move to LT after signing for RT money. Though that could just be an educated guess by any number of reporters with 2 brain cells.
He took a home town discount to play RT (SF offered more $$) because he liked it here. Not only was it a low overall contract but it was heavily incentivized. Then he gets switched to LT. Of course he was pissed off.

He's cut out for the Ernie Adams role.

Higgins is going to cost a 1st. Jeudy is going to be at least a 2nd. Then you have to pay them. I don't see either happenning.
Why do people keep on bringing up Jeudy? He was drafted in 2020. Why would DEN trade him? Makes zero sense.

By my calculation, if he hit his weight incentives then he made $10M this season. That’s good money for his level of performance at left tackle this season.
Yea, there's your answer. He played like a $10M LT instead of like a Pro Bowl RT. Chess vs chequers man. Its pure genius.

I think we lost our comp pick for Jackson when he went out after 5 games. I'm pretty sure the comp pick formula includes performance. It's not simply contract $$. We lost a comp pick for this before... though I can't remember who it was right now.

Pats will get comp pick for JC . its just downgraded from 3 to 4.
Should get 6 for Karras and 7 for Bolden.

bedard throwing stuff on the wall to see if its sticks. God, no local media likes to see its coaches fired more than boston

Same with Higgins as well.. he is still on rookie contract for 2023.

Dude, you are so far off base here it's not funny. AB was snapping or tweeting or 'gramming live from the locker room, which any HS level coach would tell you isn't a good thing. He did this on Tomlin's watch.

Now, in the past, I have dogged Tomlin as a product of 1) the football media and 2) a result of being in a super stable organization who doesn't fire coaches every three years. I don't like his style of being a "players coach". I think you get a limited amount of success as a "players coach" because guys get bored or complacent, they need to be challenged. But... Tomlin does have his team in the mix every year, even if they underachieve slightly. I think he's at that second level of really really good coaches. I will back off my "Tomlin sucks" rants going forward, the guy has my respect.

But let's not pretend he handled AB well. He created AB, with a little CTE help.
Can't argue with that. Just seemed like he had it under control when it came to his public meltdowns. Tomlin also wants nothing to do with AB anymore.

I mean 90% of the starter in this league are capable of throwing that kind of deep ball.

What separate good QB to the bad one in my view are their capacity to read the field quick enough, to handle pressure and are able to make plays when the play broke down.

Evan Lazar pointed out last week on PU or catch-22e that this year Mac had trouble reading the coverage on short and intermediate throws often making the bad choices. Has had trouble with his accuracy on shorter throws.

Mac is fine when nothing goes wrong the problem is that in the NFL something goes wrong more often than not.

Mac will probably get another year but with Bill response yesterday I feel he is not that high on Mac Jones. So the question is does Bill want to put cap space or draft capital into star talent on offense for a QB he is not sure he wants to commit to?
Just to add to this…. Every NFL QB has talent, that’s why they made it. Once you pass the major bust phase - guys like like Zach Wilson, JaMarcus, Ryan Leaf and Josh Rosen who just can’t comprehend anything going on in the field even in the best of times - every NFL QB can perform if things go perfectly for them. Remember our passive defensive game plans when we had a poor secondary 10+ years ago? Dan Orlovsky went 30/37 for 353 yards, 2 TDs, 1 int against us. Dan Orlovsky, when the Colts were sucking for Luck.

The differentiator is what happens when things don’t go as planned. Some of that can be resolved pre-snap. Mac’s been ok here, inconsistent but not terrible. But post-snap needs that reaction too, and he’s definitely struggled there. Hopefully he can improve, but if he doesn’t, then he winds up being labeled as a starting QB who “panics under pressure” and teams game plan accordingly, and it ultimately limits the success he and the team will have.

Downgraded to a 4th??

JC Jackson only played in 5 games before going on season-ending IR. Comp picks are not awarded based solely on contract value. The player has to play up to that contract. As I said earlier, the Patriots had this happen with one of their free agents a few years ago.

Problem is you can't keep Meyers AND bring in a WR1 like Cooks. Need to choose. As much as I like Meyers, we need a real #1. Parker isn't one. I kike your list:

Cooks
Parker
Bourne
Thornton

That gives you the outside guys you need, speed, 50/50 guy, slot. The problem we had was Bourne, Meyer, and Agholor were all the same types.

Thats a nice set there (could be referring to your post or your avatar). Id be tempted to make a move for hopkins over cooks, depending on what he has left. Itd be worth the extra to get a bonafide #1, but i only watched one game of him this year which wasn’t the greatest impression.

Didn't the Pats lose a comp pick for Beau Allen when he was out for the entire year?

I would prefer Cooks on two to three year pact he'll be 30.

I brought up Cooks, but to be clear I'd prefer Hopkins by a mile over Cooks. I think he would cost more in terms of both picks and salary than Cooks by a big margin.

Would love to bring in Kingsbury as the OC then have him convince Hopkins to come here.

I think itd be worth it. Cooks is great but hes not the type of go to guy that you need in those close games which we’ve been missing since gronk. If there’s an opportunity to get a #1 i say go for it.

Id be open to either at the end of the day, both would open things up for the rest of the offense. This and OT are hopefully priorities personnel wise .

I believe it's because his contract will be up after next season, so the idea would be the Broncos wouldn't want to sign him to the big contract it might take to retain him while rebuilding. He was a part of trade rumors at the deadline.

Right year, but it was the combination of Byrd getting a ton of playing time and Elandon Roberts missing time with the Dolphins. The Patriots did get an extra 5th after they were originally announced, but we never figured out exactly what error they corrected to come to that conclusion.
