Regarding the WRs...

Parker, Bourne (?), Thornton will be back in 2023.
Agholor will not be offered a new contract.
Meyers too me is an essential signing.

That would leave the team with Parker, Bourne, Meyers & Thornton.

Looking at the FA WR list, it's not impressive, but I would go after Allen Lazard. He's a tall, versatile receiver who would fit in nicely with the current group. DJ Chark is another tall receiver with some upside but he's got a slim frame (although he's still 20 lbs above TT). Mecole Hardman is a burner if the team's looking for more speed at the position but Hardman is hardly a WR1. The current FA WR list is not very deep at all. The team may need to go the trade route, which potentially brings all sorts of possibilities.

Who is everyone? The official stats give BB credit for 6 SBs as a HC. By your account Lil Stephen has 3 SBs to his credit which is > Shula, Landry & Parcells. Brian Belichick has 2 SBs. So as Pats fans we can brag that the Belichicks have a combined 13 SBs. Lets F*cking Gooooo!!!!!!!!!!
When Steve and Brian Belichick go on to head coach their way to Super Bowls, the championships won as coordinators will be brought up too. Belichick's rings as defensive coordinator are always brought up, especially with his gameplan being in the HoF. Can we stop pretending otherwise? Or, you can pretend they don't exist and it makes 0 difference if we just talk about the SIX F***ING CHAMPIONSHIPS he's won as a head coach

Honestly I feel Bill will trade for Hopkins. Seeing their interaction at the Cardinals game reminded me of the interaction between Bill and Henry when we played the chargers

You definitely give your username credibility.
Now I just need to know if you truly are a goose behind the screen. ..

They haven't been awful like some of the prior ones but Cole Strange in the 1st and Ty Thornton in the 2nd are not looking like good picks so far.
Both picks were Reach picks where they were taken. Boney T could have waited until the Third.

We know who...

Because of the s**tty coaching they got.
Exactly
And hines got the same coaching
There is so far zero evidence or reports I have read that the Pats view hines as a starting caliber G for next Season so all I am saying is we can hope he can be at least a better backup or start eventually but moving onwenu to rt and hines to rg has no indications at this point
Wynn was sulking over the move from LT to RT which probably cost him 5-7M AAV in free agency and the Pats a chance at a decent comp pick.

I largely agree with Tunescribe that you don't throw away QBs and you develop them because any other position doesn't make sense.

I'm still in Mac Jones's corner.

That doesn't mean that Mac didn't have a pretty poor year toward the bottom of the league. He did. And as bad as Patricia is (I hope he's not OC), Mac's bad year was not all on Patricia. Even yesterday when Mac had plenty of time, he made some poor decisions or late reads.

He also proved he has plenty of arm to play in this league.

He threw some beautiful deep balls

That one to Parker was a thing of beauty (until it bounced off of his face )

He has the talent, he just needs to put it together consistently

They need to invest in a legit WR1 for him (or any future qb)

Interesting. Bill Belichick is Matt Patricia's "best friend" and "he is one of the greatest guys in the world".
Somehow, I do not think BB will fire Matt. He may move him to another coaching position, but he is not firing him.

Moving him to a new position is fine, Patricia is smart and can provide value somewhere… just not on the offensive side of the ball

I wouldn't mind seeing Cooks back with the Pats. However, he brings an 18M cap hit with him. He would be an excellent mentor for Thornton. I have a feeling, though, that Houston would be looking for a 1st round pick for him.
Think I'd rather try for one of he younger WRs that @BaconGrundleCandy has mentioned.
The rumor was that they wanted 2nd a fourth for him at the deadline last year. Then he sat out some games and was away from the team because he was upset. Claypool went for a second a second. I think a third for him is reasonable given that if they didn't trade him he would probably just hold out. I'd also hope that part of the trade would involve a restructure because I agree $18 MM is too much for him.

Even though we are rebuilding with how bad the Texans have been recently the last 3 season would have seemed like perennial powerhouse to Cooks.

I'd probably prefer them go with a drafted WR in the first or the second to replace Agholor and add long term to the position. However, starting in the third I'd rather have Cooks than the draft pick. Especially if Meyers ends up out of our price range Cooks could be a good replacement

Yea I can't imagine why we would want a WR who for his career has averaged 70catches, 950yds and 5TDs a season....
Yea Cooks sucks at 76 catches, 957 yds (6 out of 9 >1000), and 5.4 TDs a season. Pedestrian numbers for a WR2, more like a WR3. Lol

Cooks is still only 29. $18M salary this year and $13M next year. Convert $12M of his salary in 2023 into a signing bonus to make his cap hit this year $12M and next year $19M. Cap goes up so not as hard to absorb. Maybe they could add a year if he's interested and spread the signing bonus proration further. I'd like a younger player too but he's good and still fairly young, and the comp isn't outrageous.

I don't count comps until their actually announced. Those are just guesses. Jackson could be a 3rd round comp, but we'll see how they move it.
Karras should be a 6th or 7th regardless.

I think we lost our comp pick for Jackson when he went out after 5 games. I'm pretty sure the comp pick formula includes performance. It's not simply contract $$. We lost a comp pick for this before... though I can't remember who it was right now.

Dude, you are so far off base here it's not funny. AB was snapping or tweeting or 'gramming live from the locker room, which any HS level coach would tell you isn't a good thing. He did this on Tomlin's watch.

Now, in the past, I have dogged Tomlin as a product of 1) the football media and 2) a result of being in a super stable organization who doesn't fire coaches every three years. I don't like his style of being a "players coach". I think you get a limited amount of success as a "players coach" because guys get bored or complacent, they need to be challenged. But... Tomlin does have his team in the mix every year, even if they underachieve slightly. I think he's at that second level of really really good coaches. I will back off my "Tomlin sucks" rants going forward, the guy has my respect.

But let's not pretend he handled AB well. He created AB, with a little CTE help.
He was joking. Lol

It feels like Cooks been in the league as long as Tom

Man , good and luckly that McVay won the SB , that team is hosed for the next few yrs. Reminder what a new coach might bring. And it so wrong he doesnt want to be part of the rebuild now likely

Remember a few days years ago when people were asking how the Rams could get all those free agents ? They sold their future to contend and made it to 2 Sbs, winning 1

Now McVay is bailing as the wheels start to fall off

I mean 90% of the starter in this league are capable of throwing that kind of deep ball.

What separate good QB to the bad one in my view are their capacity to read the field quick enough, to handle pressure and are able to make plays when the play broke down.

Evan Lazar pointed out last week on PU or catch-22e that this year Mac had trouble reading the coverage on short and intermediate throws often making the bad choices. Has had trouble with his accuracy on shorter throws.

Mac is fine when nothing goes wrong the problem is that in the NFL something goes wrong more often than not.

Mac will probably get another year but with Bill response yesterday I feel he is not that high on Mac Jones. So the question is does Bill want to put cap space or draft capital into star talent on offense for a QB he is not sure he wants to commit to?

Yep. And bringing back Meyers could take close to half of our estimated 33M or so in cap, which might not be the best use of that money. I get the contract could also be heavily backloaded but that's also not great. Very tough call, as I'd love to have the player back. He's just one of those guys you want to see play their career wire to wire with the Pats, ala Jules, Faulk, and Troy. WR market might make that terribly tough.
Problem is you can't keep Meyers AND bring in a WR1 like Cooks. Need to choose. As much as I like Meyers, we need a real #1. Parker isn't one. I kike your list:

Cooks
Parker
Bourne
Thornton

That gives you the outside guys you need, speed, 50/50 guy, slot. The problem we had was Bourne, Meyer, and Agholor were all the same types.

He's a bit of a head case but he's undeniably talented. Although, I'm not sure why he would want to come to the north east (from dome teams) to play with Mac Jones. Maybe Hopkins likes Belichick, but he's not throwing the passes, and I'm certain Hopkins won't want to be in an offense run by Patricia.
