This just screams ‘technicality’. tomlin has gone 8-8 3 times (2 of those with a hof qb), while bb has gone 8-9 and 7-9 with cam and mac. is that extra win that important?

Of course it is.

Any time now Mr. Kraft.... Please don't make us go thru another Belichick draft!

???

He went to 5 NFC title games, including 4 straight, and got to the SB, with Donovan McNabb
Reid has a .641 winning % vs Bill's .662% (which incl. 20 years w/ the GOAT). He's the only active coach that can catch Bill. He's 71 wins behind Halas' regular season wins (218) which Bill has yet to pass (20 behind). He could get there in 6 years when he's 70, though looking at his majestic roundness it's debatable he can last that long.

Feel free to leave if you don't like Belichick being the coach. Already established he's back for 2023.

Of course it is.

So that you can say youve never had a losing season? Im not dogging tomlin, hes a great coach. But his last 12 seasons, 10 seasons with big ben: 3 playoff wins (2 against backup qbs), one afc championship appearance which they got blown out. We are kidding ourselves if we are saying our fanbase wouldn’t be irate with results like that over 10 years, just because we can say we never had a losing season?

Posted elsewhere, but I'll repeat it here:

Bill Belichick made a point of telling us all that the Patriots were #27 in cash outlay over the last 3 seasons. I look forward to all the people here calling him out for bringing up something that doesn't matter, given that such has been the position of so many around here when other posters have talked about cash payout v. cap spending in the past.
He said that? Wow, that's a shot at Kraft.

When he played LT for us 3 years ago.

He played better at LT for us than he did at RT last year.

So, that explains why the coaching staff put him at LT.

His stint at LT was in 2018, not 2019. Yes, he did well.
However, you don't look at 4 years ago in making the decision that they did. You look at how he played the previous year. Which wasn't all that good. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.
And he flat out sucked in 2022. I don't know if it was a weight thing. Or a concentration thing or a coaching thing.

Interesting. Bill Belichick is Matt Patricia's "best friend" and "he is one of the greatest guys in the world".
Somehow, I do not think BB will fire Matt. He may move him to another coaching position, but he is not firing him.
Moving him to another position IS firing him from calling plays.

It was posed as a question about whether he thought the Pats got all their money’s worth out of the huge spending spree in 2021. He deflected saying that they view contracts over a 3 year period, and over the 3 year period they’ve been at the bottom of the league in spending. Then he said he thinks the team has more talent now than 3 years ago.

It was a way for him not to say they had a few misses with 2021 free agency…..

I think we can all agree that the players were misused in 2022. The whole "shift of the offense" was just flat dumb.

I'm just talking about the fact that they decided to put him at LT. That's what I was responding to. The poster I responded to made it seem like it was a wacky decision coming out of left field.

I mean Tomlin has a .636 winning % which puts him 7 places behind Bill (#15) all time. If you only include coaches w/ >100 games, he's only behind Bill (.662), Seifert (.648), and Reid (.641). He's also only 50 years old. He's another coach that could catch Bill in wins.
