It's the smart and right decision. You give a rookie QB 3 years unless he shows to be a complete disaster which Wilson has done in spades.

Easily the worst QB I have seen play since Russell. Wasting any more time on him will do nothing but harm. It was obvious last year he was not an NFL QB and his attitude means he has no shot.

There are degrees. You think the Chargers would have liked to keep Brees? I don’t think the Jets are wrong here, but young QBs have been given absolutely no time to develop in the last few years. You have to be allowed to make mistakes to get a feel for what you can and can’t do.

He did have a promising rookie year. Last year everyone said it was an advantage coming to the Pats, but being Tom Brady’s successor has to be insanely difficult. Newton was always seen as a quick fix.

One scout did and he was ignored. The Jete were fooled by the kid's arm and thought he had "marquee" value.

If he was a likable person who was giving the effort in practice, but was just falling short in games, the story would be a lot different.

Hypothetical for everyone: the JEST can't find a trade partner, so they cut him and he clears waivers. (Admittedly unlikely, but w/e.)
