That's not necessarily how it works with a safety coming over to help. The throw was actually a good one, in the sense of the high arc. It just got caught up in the wind a bit. The ball should have been caught.

You need to stop blaming the QB for receivers dropping catchable balls.

Why? They are both at fault. Tha ball was thrown a second too late and the receiver dropped it. Both can exist simultaneously. What happens if Mac throws that ball earlier?? TD.

How did you like the business decision Burrow made not tying to tackle a 5'8 CB on the INT return?

The QB is at fault for the WR dropping a catchable ball? Seriously, you need to really re-think your position on this. The ball should have been caught. It's the job of the WR to do that, not the QB. There's a world of difference between "The throw was a bit off but still should have been caught" and "It's the QB's fault the ball wasn't caught".

"Gifted"? It hit the his target right in the hands. The bounce was fortunate, but let's not say that Jones was "gifted" that TD given that his throw was on the freakin' money.
Good play. It's 3rd and 29 to go. A long toss up to the goal, even if it is intercepted is as good as a punt downed inside the 5. Also after the long scramble he knew that everybody was way downfield and covered, so he chose the tall guy (Washington is 6'5") to target.

I never said the QB was at fault for the ball not being caught. Where did you read that? I said the receiver was at fault for dropping it.

That does not mean the ball was thrown well. Mac was late throwing the ball like he commonly is. Rewatch the game. Mac's throws are commonly late. I hope Mac can fix that. At least Mac stopped whining on the field and his footwork was much improved.

my guy, It's literally on the same page as the post where you said you didn't say mac had any fault.

That post says they are both at fault. The receiver should have caught the ball and Mac should have thrown it better. That does not mean Mac is at fault for the receiver dropping the ball. What is your point? I believe if Mac throws the ball earlier and leads Thornton, the result would have been different. Either way Thornton has to catch the ball.

I get what you are saying, but he hit him in the hands 50 yards down field...I mean...shiznit

1st and goal at the 5....WHAT is the season long tendency, at about 98%, for the Patriots on first down? It's a RUN. They knew it. We knew it. The Bengals had SIX men there, not one shooting a gap,or two bringing down Rham...SIX!!! ripping and tearing and picking him up off the ground.
It's the Patricia Paradigm..."ALWAYS RUN THE BALL ON FIRST DOWN". No fake into the line...no fade to Jacoby in the corner...not even a damn screen....no..."RUN IT UP THE MIDDLE...DUR DUR DERP!"... jeezus, the Pats could have actually WON this game with a division 2 college coach calling the offense

Agreed, this offense is beyond predictable it’s a joke.

as this season goes down in flames, it seems the Pats FINALLY drafted a bona fide playmaker. Marcus Jones puts points on the board and makes things happen. they need to decide a schitt ton of plays on offense for this guy

That’s just one example of why this offense is bad, but it’s very good one.

Your use of the word "fault" is where you go wrong. The ball should have been caught. That it was not caught is the fault of the WR, not the QB.

Agreed. For a long pass down the sideline there are three basic options. A: lead the receiver, B: throw a jump ball, or C: thrown a back shoulder fade. Which one did Mac throw? None of the above. What ball should Mac have thrown? The answer is A - Mac should have thrown the ball earlier and led Thornton into the endzone.

Someone noted that it is tough in this weather to lead the receiver. I think it was @Ian. And yes, that is right. But if you re-watch the game, Mac's throws were late all game. I think that is fixable. Mac's footwork and pocket presence were much better which is encouraging because those things are not fixable (watch Zach Wilson as an example).

Having said all that, Thornton has to catch that ball.

Maybe my post above clarifies my point. Sorry if my wording was lazy.

I dont disagree, Mac holds the ball too long, he needs to be quicker....but is it him or the offense..or both?

Yep, an RPO / rollout type play likely results in a walk in for Mac or somebody wide open. Bengals were going all out to stop Rhamondre there. Calling a run was the easy thing to do in that situation, I get what Fatty was thinking.... we were probably going to run the clock down to around 30 seconds and then take 3 shots into the end zone. But this is the outside of the box type stuff that has been lacking all year, what makes this offense so easy to stop, and could have lost us this game and the Packer game. They are either afraid or just that uncreative to do something other than the standard thing that everybody sees coming. And any competent defense will swallow up. It's better to score too early and get the points than to let the defense dictate what you're going to do, and this offense isn't good enough to waste a down to burn clock.

It is him. I think the game is still too fast for him. The game slowed down noticeably for Allen and Burrows in their third year. But I could be wrong, I do not have enough experience to know for sure. If Mac is still holding the ball to long this time next year, I think we have a problem.

As a reminder, Mac was throwing a deep ball to the end of the field where kickers missed kicks all afternoon. You could the trajectory change and he still barely under threw it.
Mac is constantly under throwing the deep ball tho
