I can't say I blame him, pepper Johnson was there for years, and never got named DC
But Pepper never went to to another team to become the main guy either. Mayo is known as much more of a football tactician than Pepper ever was.

Bourne is on a very cheap contract though. He fits the salary structure.
That could also make him more attractive to other teams in a trade.

Personally, I have a hard time figuring who is at fault for what in the offense so I'd like to see Bourne get another shot with a competent OC next season before the Pats move on from him. I'd like to see a receiver picked in the top 4 rounds (or a receiver traded for with a pick in the top 4 rounds) to replace Agholor but I'd be fine with Parker, Meyers, Thornton, Bourne and one new receiver with a new OC.

My preference would be to bulk up the O-line and go back to being an under center run first team than a spread short game team. Last game I wished they had called about 10 more runs. If the Pats get much more run heavy the 4th and 5th receivers matter a lot less.

The NE players know that it's time for a change. Every game is a struggle on offense. The only guy that can change that is the man with the ball on his hands every play.

Only the most ardent Mac loyalist like Meyers want to stay the course with Jones.

BB is at the crossroads of Patriot Way or Mac Jones till the end.

That applies to the coaching staff as well..
There's a question of deliberately not doing your job, no? Are you saying Patricia is deliberately sabotaging the offense... in order to???

Oh no, simply saying the experiment hasn't worked, the players never bought in that's all the players on offense or at least the starters, in all fairness to Mac he came from offensive structure at Alabama, Tom Curran reported today that everyone around the team including ownership question weather the Patricia decision would work. But however let bb do his thing, and trusted his judgment. So Mac, KB, Andrew's Trent brown, basically everyone on offense never bought in to this offense. I don't think he has to deliberately do anything he just can't coach offense, and that's perfectly fine we all can't do every job in life.

Who gets relieved of their respective duties first? Mac or Patricia?

I don't see the evidence for what you're saying. I understand Mac and KB but not "everyone" else.

Stephen doesn't have the gravitas without his father.

To these players, that counts.

I criticize Belichick more for putting Stephen there than I do for him putting Patricia there. Patricia is a guy who knows football, who Belichick might have reasonably evaluated as being able to handle the OC position. Belichick erred, Patricia can't handle it. But putting your son in that position when you know no one would take him seriously otherwise? It's the kind of nepotistic blindness you'd expect from other coaches.

And who can say that it isn't really Belichick and / or Mayo who is the major force here rather than Stephen? Heck, it might even be Covington.
I think at this point Stephen has earned his own gravitas in that locker room. Mayo, Covington, and obviously Bill have too. It's the other side of the ball that has the coaching issues.

bourne agholor jonnu smith(however sparingly he has been used) - are typical no patriot players. i thoight bourne was one last yr. But this yr him and few others hsve decided to piss and moan publicly about every situation and go ahead and drop balls in the game.
This group of skilled players dint like the OC change and have since given up trying . Ask the coaches hs been their call all the time .Dont blame them but that attitude when you dont even try doesnt help.you have issues , do it privately. Dont call out your coach during the came on national tv and then go ahead and miss wide open throws or snap without being set or commit false starts.
Ultimately these players don't want to play for this offense as bad it is .So the combination is showing to the worst. As a professional at least do you job . Catch the ball thrown to you and complain about the playcall. make the throw and say the playcall sucked. These guys just do the latter.

Clearly it was mistake to hire guys without experience.

I don't think it was going well during the spring and summer but as the season started I think they had things somewhat under control. I think the Bourne's of the world were ready to go to work and try and by in.

Who knows how it might have worked if we didn't have a major injury to our QB, injuries to our top two WRs, Top 2 RBs (though Rham seems fine), and two OL staters and seemingly every backup RT.

Somewhere during all of this it completely came undone. I had held out hope if some guys could get healthy maybe things could turn around I thought that was going to start vs LV and it got worse.

I'll give everyone the benefit of 3 more weeks for whatever it could be worth then tough decisions will have to be made starting with Coaches and QB but also anyone like Bourne who may not have bought in need to be considered for change. I lean toward a clean sweep But I'll trust Bill to pick the right ones.

Bourne, yes. I don't think either Agholor or Jonnu have spoken out criticizing the new offense as far as I know. Haven't seen any of that from either of them but maybe I missed something.

the other two mainly from their contributions and lack of any attitude or leadership to improve their play
