What about Stephen though?
I'm never a fan of any nepotism like this, even though I acknowledge the league is littered with this stuff (Shanahan, McVay, many others). Heck, the Patriots have Groh and Wolf doing personnel. Steve hasn't done a bad job BUT it's just a bad look, IMO, and he lacks the gravitas that his father has, that Mayo has as an ex-player, and that even Patricia has as the DC of the #1 defense in football.

I would make that move if only because I trust Patricia more than Steve Belichick. But... is Bill going to demote his son?

One other move is to make Patricia an Assoc. Head Coach like Ernie was and to limit him to the OL coach, bring on an OC, move Judge to special teams, move Achord to TEs, take the TE coach and move him to OC??

Have a funny feeling we'll be seeing zappe sooner than later in these last 3 games.. it's going to get ugly... players start thinking about the off season..
I think that ship has sailed regarding this season way too late now. That said starting next season let the competition begin.

They have made FA mistakes like every Team ie... Smith and Agholor we need to rectify those bad signings in the upcoming FA and the Draft.
Smith is a bad signing.

But as for Agholor, a 2 yr contract at $10m per for a guy with 60 catches and 800 yards is par for the course. Look around. A lot of DJ Chark's and Russell Gage's are getting that. Don't get me wrong, Agholor has been useless for us. But if you expect more production from your $10m a year 2 year contract, prepare to be disappointed. The going rate for guys that are difference makers is $25m a year. And some guys who are not even all that good are getting $18m.

Definitely, the mistakes are so easy to point beucase of the types of contracts these players got.. I don't blame the players for taking the money at all. However I only see a restructuring for smith and possibly, just either a trade or outright realese for Agahlor, then again due to how bad the offense was this season maybe everyone gets a pass.. and we add premiere talent!
Agholor signed a 2 year contract. You can't trade or release a guy not under contract.

Well good so that makes the decision to move on even easier I'd think wouldn't you..

That decision was already hard-boiled into the contract the moment it was signed. A 2 year deal is a "we'll walk away quickly" type of deal.

So this was never a long term signing like the Jonnu Smith one

Proven Players are paid off past performances, we all know that. Any major game changers are all under contract from what I can see around the league.. I wonder what the availability of Allen Robinson is.. he could be a guy that really helps this offense.. When Mac has had time and the offense looked somewhat NFL basic standards he gives you performances like @ Minnesota.

Coaching, O line and definitely WRs will make a world of difference next season.

I see.. Jonnu Smith is bit different as we all know his contract will be restructured.. same for Henry.. he's literally done little to nothing in the passing game.. the guy that I feel for is Bourne. Last season a fan favorite, lovable personality, great character, locker room guy. He as far a WR he suffered the most this season . Hope he stays..

This tweet names 3 guys who should NOT be on the Patriots next year.
Even if Mac was not the target it is still a bad look from a guy who has not played up to his potential this season. Things have to be very ugly in the locker room right now.

Breer reported mayo informed the organization that he'd liked the official DC title or he'd look for other opportunities.
Yeah, I know he will walk as I do not think he will get that official title unfortunately!

I get that you don't like nepotism that was obvious in your o.p.

But you said he's doing a good job. What does all that other stuff matter now?

He's the defacto DC and his D does very well. Mayo is next behind him and it's a tough spot to be in but as long Stephen is doing good then it is what it is. Mayo might have to move on or he might have to wait until Stephen possibly does and get DC here but I don't see how you promote Mayo ahead of Stephen.

Bourne is gone. He can't keep his mouth shut. Doesn't play much. Behind Ag and TT. Not in the plans.

Mayo will leave unless some of you get your wish and Kraft fires Bill which I don't believe would happen. I wish Bill would just give Steve the title.

Also why is Achord getting demoted? Blocked punts suck but other than that he's been pretty good at his job. 2 really good STs developed under him in Schooler and Marcus Jones.

Just let Patricia go and possibly even Judge too. Caley probably ain't sticking around. Try to mess with the coaches on STs and D as little as you can and bring in some new blood on offense no need to move everyone around like you suggested.

I'm sure Mayo is getting a little antsy and I don't doubt the reports but I don't see it as a foregone conclusion he goes. Just a tough choice he'll have to make to either stay buried or find a new team. The Pats have been pretty good to him and his family his brother is Our strength and conditioning guy too so I could see him sticking it out.

Patricia is bad at offense. He was always excellent at defense.

2 years in a row now we've had special teams breakdowns. It's not one blocked punt. Not to mention the multiple times the Raiders ran the KO to the 30 this weekend.

We're not great on special teams anymore.

Stephen doesn't have the gravitas without his father.

To these players, that counts.

I criticize Belichick more for putting Stephen there than I do for him putting Patricia there. Patricia is a guy who knows football, who Belichick might have reasonably evaluated as being able to handle the OC position. Belichick erred, Patricia can't handle it. But putting your son in that position when you know no one would take him seriously otherwise? It's the kind of nepotistic blindness you'd expect from other coaches.

And who can say that it isn't really Belichick and / or Mayo who is the major force here rather than Stephen? Heck, it might even be Covington.

I was shocked by the blocked punt (Peppers letting the guy through completely uncovered!) until I read that there had been a problem with the play clock that confused them. As for the kickoffs, that's the price we have to pay having Folk do them. Bailey is missed for more than just punts.

Bourne is on a very cheap contract though. He fits the salary structure.
