Brady had a direct path to Kraft and went to BK to get Jimmy gone because Brady felt threatened. From my sources back in Mass, Jimmy was running his mouth that the Pats were his team. Supposedly Jimmy looked really good in camp and was ready to take on old man Brady.

BB did not want to trade Jimmy away. There was a quote by BB that basically stated "when your boss says trade a player you do it."

This is where BB probably went off the rails. He had Jimmy waiting in the wings to continue the dynasty but Brady is an anomaly, he just kept on ticking past expiration date and BB’s well laid plans all fell apart. Something changed in Bill and he seems to be mailing it in ever since,

I count 13 head coaches in the NFL that I would give a plus grade. If that number roughly holds true season to season then the Patriots have a 40% chance of their next head coach being good.
You're an extremely generous grader.

Why do you like Eliot Wolf as the GM?

The very first reason is that he began his NFL career Outside of Bill's circle of F & Fs; that alone makes him more qualified than anyone else in the building...I'm also not as enamored with the last two drafts as most here; and accounts seem to indicate that Al Groh's kid had a bigger hand in them than the Wolf... There have also been multiple reports that Al Groh's kid has acted like a typical pompous, know-it-all Slappy at both the Senior Bowl & the scouting combine...

I don't want ANY "protege" of Little Bill having control of this franchise; and Eliot Wolf represents the best of both an outsider's background and 3 years of studying the organization both on and off the field... Betcha deep down he knows Exactly what's wrong here...

According to Albert Breer, Former Texans Head Coach Bill O'Brien is at the "top of the list" for the Patriots head coaching job whenever Bill Belichick decides to retire.
The Kraft family likes O'Brien's attitude and would relish at the opportunity to bring him onto the team to command Mac Jones and the offense, whether that be at playcaller next season, or head coach at some point in the future.
The news just keeps coming out of Kraft regarding the job that BB is doing. Over the offseason Kraft complained about the Pats drafts, bot enough regular season wins and the early post season exit. Youre not going to make coaching staff changes to BBs team unless that person has done something very wrong.

Bill Obrien is a hothead and would be Mac Jones worst nightmare.

If BB leaves he would have a new job by the end of day.
Youre not going demote a long time BB soldier in Patricia without consequences. Thats the point.

BB is all about loyalty to those loyal to him and if you break that bond like Mangini did its over forever.
To come out with quotes from Kraft about a new OC with 5 games to go is fighting words. Where would Patricia go? Not back to DC that I can see.
BB is building from the ground up and this situation is 180 degrees different from Kraft asking BB to trade Jimmy. Kraft got rid of Jimmy, dissed recent drafts by BB and voiced his displeasure with the lack of regular season and playoff wins. BB might just tell Kraft to GFY.

Don't look now, clodhopper, but your sister is mighty pissed. Better get your butt in gear if you don't want it taking a barrel load of rock salt!

I have made my feelings about BB clear already but the idea that his coaching future depends on one game is absurd!

I don't want O'Brien anywhere near this team as HC either. He was average in Houston as a coach given the talent on that team.

This. I won’t be around here much longer at this rate.
Why? Because we are not all holding hands and singing the same tune?

What's wrong with being critical of the team and even having very far fetched but also topical conversations like this?

I never noticed this cult like mentality of never being allowed to be critical of the team until Brady left.

In the eyes of patsgofor the Pats and BB never do anything wrong nor are you allowed to say any word of criticism even though you only need to watch the games to see there have been some bad decisions made by the gm

Honestly, until they fix the offensive line, there's no coach who can fix what ails this current group.
Yes. But unlike his friend Saban in Alabama, who always insists on experienced, high-achieving offensive line coaching, Belichick really dropped the ball handing the duties to his friend Patricia who is undergoing a lot of on-the-job learning.

In another year or two Patricia may become a competent coach with this group.

That’s if he’s discharged from his OC duties.

No one knows what influence if any Kraft’s new wife will yield.

Also, the impetus to hire a black coach will be present.

Brian Flores is a grouch and not my first choice, but there is a Patriot connection.

There is middle ground where we can discuss any topic without going caustic. The forum's name is Pats Fans. Traditionally a fan cheers and boos their team. Booing is OK, but non-stop booing is not constructive.

If the Jets lose to Buffalo, and the Pats beat the Cardinals, we are in the playoffs. You would have no idea that is the case reading posts of the Fans on this Pats website.

Be honest, do you get the feeling the Pats might be a playoff team Monday night from reading PatsFans (fan postings on a Pats website?).

Bill's succession plan for HC probably is; and I say this only half jokingly
Steven Belichick
Brian Belichick
Matt Patricia
Jerod Mayo

I get the frustration, but at the same time, I don't know how Zappe fares any better when their tackles are playing like this:

They're on the ground a little over a second in, and then the quarterback gets buried barely two seconds into the play:

I will say for people who have harped on the defense, their issue is less about the defense playing elite offenses and more about the offensive line protecting against better defenses. They need to solidify those tackle spots in the worst way, which makes the Isaiah Wynn situation so frustrating because he was obviously supposed to be one of those guys they were building around. Now they'll essentially have to start again.

Yes, this is the play that gets me about the anti-Mac crowd. I mean even Brady would have either been sacked or would have done what Jones did on this play. And these same people who want to kill Jones for not throwing it to Hunter Henry would have put the blame 100% on the tackles if this happened to Zappe.

The first photo BTW is the best evidence that Henry really wasn't open. Edmonds is right there with in a couple of yards of Henry watching Jones and in position to jump the route for a pick six interception. That is if the defender with a jailbreak rush on Jones didn't tip the ball or intercept it himself.

I still don't understand the switch. Both guys were serviceable last year, but as I mentioned and a couple other analysts pointed out, they had help from Henry and Smith, so I'm wondering if the goal was to free those guys up. Either way, obviously it didn't work out. But I'd be willing to bet Belichick probably didn't expect either Brown nor Wynn to struggle this badly. They needed at least one to play well and neither have.

I was actually for the switch because I didn't think Wynn was all that great last year, but it is clear the switch didn't work. Wynn is a mediocre to average LT, but a disaster at RT. And Brown, although at times has been exceptional at LT, has been making a lot of mental mistakes all season. Against the Bills he was just awful. Putrid.

Again, you're looking at the still. The amount of time before they were there (2.28 is when Jones let it go - so they were already almost there before that) was the issue.

You're not thinking about this rationally. He didn't have time to throw it.

The fastest guys in the league need a minimum of 2.43 to get the ball out:

From NextGenStats:

The defender hit Jones at 2.24. That means for him to let it go, he would have had to have thrown it probably no later than like the 2.10 second mark if not sooner to make a real throw. When Jones let the ball go, the defender was already onto of him and he had was unable to make a real throw at that point.
