Bill Belichick: Highest Paid Coach in North American Sports at $20m per

You don't cut a coach's salary unless you want to fire him
Yep. I was implying that.

You pay someone 20% of that for those kinds of results.

I look at Bill as comparable to Andy Reid. Reid had one losing season in his last 7 years in Philadelphia and was fired. In the 9 full seasons since then, the Eagles have had 3 losing seasons and gone through four other coaches. They've also won a Super Bowl, which they didn't under Reid, so maybe it was worth it. Reid, meanwhile, jumped to the Chiefs and hasn't had a losing season since, and has also won the Super Bowl.
You can also look at the Baltimore Ravens. They're probably the second best run franchise in the NFL.

They stick with their coach because they are football people and they evaluate their coach positively.

2 playoff wins in the last 9 years. He's not in danger of being fired.

People just want to put Brady on a pedestal...

Are you this stupid?
Apparently, but youre acting like this because you dont like the facts behind my statement
No one is. Every HC needs a QB who can execute his system - Belichick would have had the same or similar success with Manning, Rodgers, Brees and probably more success with Mahomes. it's nothing unique or special about Brady in that regard.
You got me there, if Belichick was able to be carried by another legendary qb, thats all he wouldve needed!
Try looking up Bill Walsh's record without Montana, Knoll's record without Bradshaw, or Lombardi's record without Star...
You arent sitting here saying you need to find another dinker and dunker for Bill walsh...Nobody cares about them...But if you want to do the math and confirm the quarterbacks carried them as well, be my guest

BB has never said he did it alone.

BB did turn around a defense in 1996 that brought a Drew Bledsoe lead offense to the Super Bowl

That same team with Bledsoe won 6 games prior to Belichick.

There are so many many ways to play this game.
Well it's really cut and dry to me.. your right BB had alot to do with the culture, and creating a environment to hold players accountable and do thier jobs.. however it's been 3 seasons enough of a sample size to kind of judge.

Last season instilled hope to the fan base, much wasn't expected after seeing the team at least get back to play off contention the hope was We'd build off that. Alot of money was spent on free agency, the players in the system were supposed to be better and more acclimated to the system.

That system was mysteriously changed, EVERYONE in the offensive system regressed, the o line, the skill positions, just everyone! I appreciate everything BB has done he is the GOAT coach of course.

However this season is a failure, and after the week 17 blow out loss to come I believe a executive decision will be made.

If Reid hangs around with Mahomes long enough then he should get 2 more. That's 4 including McVay's 1. McDermott, Taylor and Shanahan are getting one a piece at least. If Allen breaks through for a ring then I could see him winning multiple with McDermott. Burrow looks like a multi-SB winner with Taylor. One or more of these head coaches / quarterbacks will underachieve in all likelihood but still >6 SB rings is probable for this collective group of head coaches.

8 vs. 1 to achieve parity, and the 8 coaches would likely need to coach something like 80-100 of collective years (10 years each) to beat BB as a group. Amazing.

Yes, cap space can be maneuvered in a number of ways but that does not make it easy. And every so often the room to maneuver runs out.

There are two different subjects crossing over here. The cap, which has an annual hard number, and the capital required to back up contracts. We only know for sure the cap space to sign Brown wasn't there. We have no clue what the cash situation was in TN but it is safe to say as an owner Krafty Bob is better situated than Amy Adams Strunk.
For many years the Patriots wanted to keep the team competitive year in and year out so they never really did a Snyder-ish push it into the future. Well, they finally did it for the 17-18 seasons, went to 2 Super Bowls, and then by 2020, they had an absolute washout in which they took their medicine and went into the season with a skeleton crew. This reinforces your point. There are 2 ways to manage the cap. Consistently, or to blow it out occasionally. In many ways we're still building off the 2020 season. I expect all the holes to be filled (ie. OL and LB) by next season

whats nonsense about it? I dont like it, but at some point when do we look at the facts?
Projecting 9 years off 3 down years when they're rebuilding. If you don't understand why this is nonsense, there's no helping you

what was Feb 4th 2018, was that when he put on the coaching clinic in the SB against the Rams?
That was the day Coach Bill put his ego and his undying love for Matt Patricia before the team and benched Malcolm Butler in the Super Bowl vs Philadelphia. It also happens to be the day when Bill's defense gave up five touchdowns, 41 points, and 373 passing yards to Nick Foles. It was that February 4, 2018.

YOu asked whether Bill can win a playoff game without Brady. I presented evidence that he did, and now you are backtracking and changing the goal posts.

How many legendary coaches won super bowls with average QBs? I can think of two - Parcells and Gibbs. And they won SBs in an era where you could win with a strong defense and strong running game. Can't do that anymore.
But if you want to do the math and confirm the quarterbacks carried them as well, be my guest

I suggest you do so yourself so that you can add a few brain cells in the process

It did not have to be this way. Huge failure by BB to not have any post Brady succession plan in place before they let the GOAT go. Also abysmal GM decisions have led to this poor roster makeup. Passing on Lamar Jackson snd Jaylen Hurts have crippled the future.
Epic fail post Brady period. Jets are now better than pats….that says it all

It's called rebuidling.

I expected it.

The anomaly in all this was 2001when we were in the middle of a rebuild. Were also damn lucky to qualify for the playoffs and it was a miracle we beat the Raiders.

2002 should not have been unexpected when we missed the playoffs in the middle of a rebuild.

This is year 10, 3 years into another "rebuild", which was aided by boatloads of cash...They have a dominant defense and the some of the most expensive weapons in the league...What more do you need from a team? Like Mac10 said, they have their dinker and dunker...Thats all it took right?

THe difference between us is, I wont make excuses for the massive difference in success with/without Brady...Usually someone that great wont fall off without 1 person

The playoffs make a ton of extra money for the owners, home playoff games are a windfall.

BB has consistently given Kraft that, when they are consistently missing the playoffs, that’s when you will see a change.

BB salary doesn’t affect the team in any way, and frankly given his unparalleled succes, I would have been shocked if he wasn’t the highest paid coach.

Exactly, the Pats deviated from their previous model of managing the cap by trading guys/letting them go early vs late thereby keeping the future tab manageable. They did so realizing there were championships there to be won. Again look at what LA and Tampa did to get just one championship, we've had it pretty damn good here. We all danced but now that the band needs paying...

Six Super Bowl Championships will do that to a person.
