Do you think Belichick wins a playoff game without Brady?

Absolutely he can- he just needs to find another dinker-and-dunker who can't throw the ball downfield consistently but otherwise fits into the Patriots system

The salary cap is easily manageable, and the owner still has a budget…that 20 million per year 100% affect what Robert is willing to spend on the franchise, that’s why you hear Robert talk about the money he spent a couple years ago…he doesn’t talk about the cap he spent. He runs a business

If the cap was 'easily manageable' AJ Brown would still be in TN and Brady would still be here surrounded by talent. Of course Kraft has a budget, he didn't get where he is by being careless. That doesn't change the fact he understands the annual cap allowance is a finite resource. Since its inception no team has handled the cap better than New England. Kraft is on record as saying without the cap he would not have paid what he did for the team and couldn't have built Gillette. Certainly things change over 30 years and at this point in Krafty Bob's life it's safe to say for him the ring really is his thing. The Pats wouldn't own their own planes if Kraft's priority is the bottom line.

Hes had 10 years to do it, doesnt seem to be that easy

so his win against the Patriots in the playoffs in 1994 doesn't count...got it

He said it himself, Bill that is “Cap Space can be maneuvered in a number of different ways.” - Bill Belichick.

Kraft doesnt maneuver the money around in the cap world, he doles out the real dollars..." And in my 27 years as owner, I’ve never had to come up with so much capital before,”--Kraft after spending almost $200 mil in FA last year. Capital as in, $$$$

Huh?
No good reason?
Seriously?

Years of horrible drafting
Horrible Brady succession plan
A 2021 offensive spending spree on players that make virtually zero impact on the 2022 team
A stable of coaches acquired at the Friends & Family sale (BB: Hey look at this shirt, it's 95% off. Sure it won't fit and the style is from the 50's, BUT WHAT A BARGAIN.......I'm gonna get two"
etc
etc
etc

Note: THERE IS A COMMON DENOMINATOR

After how many years will the BB ball washers keep rolling out the "BB has earned the right" blather.
Next year will be YEAR 4 of "setting things straight"

Yes, seriously. VERY seriously. Point being that sometimes, fortunes take a wrong turn for reasons that are understandable. Then you have the opposite of understandable.

There is no GOOD (justifiable) reason, such as a rash of key injuries, for this capably talented player roster underperforming to a .500 level. Last year's team posted a winning record and made the playoffs, this year's team should be doing at least as well but has regressed from that. Defense and special teams are adequate, getting no help from the offense. Last year the Patriots had a top-10 offense.

What changed from last season? A new offensive system was "installed" by two woefully unqualified/unprepared coaches who never should have been hired for their respective roles. You can't convince me that Josh McDaniels or someone equally qualified to run the Patriots offense would not have put this team squarely in the playoff hunt. Ergo, the reason for things going south is pretty damn BAD.

There's a poster on here that seems to think BB had his success alone.. I don't know.. hmmmm... last I checked there was a GOAT last seen bringing his team from behind to win..

If BB did it alone why wasn't Bernie kozar the GOAT? When in Cleveland.. Bledsoe, or any other qb associated with BB. Just saying...

Sure, that definitely counts, would you like another? 10 years, 1 playoff win...78-87 record, 0 division titles and all it takes to get back on top is a dinker and dunker? You make it seem so easy!

Now you are changing the goalposts to win your argument…good for you

Yes, Brady is a glorified drinker and dunker

I look at Bill as comparable to Andy Reid. Reid had one losing season in his last 7 years in Philadelphia and was fired. In the 9 full seasons since then, the Eagles have had 3 losing seasons and gone through four other coaches. They've also won a Super Bowl, which they didn't under Reid, so maybe it was worth it. Reid, meanwhile, jumped to the Chiefs and hasn't had a losing season since, and has also won the Super Bowl.

Whatever. That's what happens when you win 6 SBs, field a competitive team ever year and deserve some credit when the franchise he coaches is worth $4.5b.

The question is by going 23-23 the last 3 years and continues this trend of mediocrity should he still be paid at that level.

What goalposts did I change? Are you happy with 1 playoff win in 10 years? Thats his trend. Should I add the word "another" as that would make a big difference for you? The goalposts dont move bud...You can call brady whatever you want, just turns out the coach has 0 ZERO success without him

You guys who are ready to move on are in for a nasty surprise when he retires (hopefully a few years down the line).

He deserves to be the highest paid coach, especially considering he is also the GM.
You don’t think the next guy can stumble and bumble his way to .500 and an first round playoff exit?

What goalposts did I change?

Are you this stupid?

No one is. Every HC needs a QB who can execute his system - Belichick would have had the same or similar success with Manning, Rodgers, Brees and probably more success with Mahomes. it's nothing unique or special about Brady in that regard.

Try looking up Bill Walsh's record without Montana, Knoll's record without Bradshaw, or Lombardi's record without Star...

BB has never said he did it alone.

BB did turn around a defense in 1996 that brought a Drew Bledsoe lead offense to the Super Bowl

That same team with Bledsoe won 6 games prior to Belichick.

There are so many many ways to play this game.

You don't cut a coach's salary unless you want to fire him

Yes, cap space can be maneuvered in a number of ways but that does not make it easy. And every so often the room to maneuver runs out.

There are two different subjects crossing over here. The cap, which has an annual hard number, and the capital required to back up contracts. We only know for sure the cap space to sign Brown wasn't there. We have no clue what the cash situation was in TN but it is safe to say as an owner Krafty Bob is better situated than Amy Adams Strunk.
