They’re struggling with situational football and mental mistakes IMO because BB has assembled a poor coaching staff on both sides of the ball and failed to develop talent at critical positions as a result of that poor coaching staff.
They need to figure out the QB position but they also need wholesale coaching staff changes and a commitment to player development, which has been really lacking over the past 4-6 years. Part of it is not drafting the right guys, but an equal or greater part of it is not developing the guys they’re drafting particularly well.
No nothing is going to change just cause they have a mini bye week. Matt will be back next season as well, unless Kraft mans up and makes Bill fire him, he isn’t going anywhere.
Offense
1. Patricia sucks and he is easily the biggest mistake of Bill's career
2. Mac inspiring confidence.
3. The offensive line is consistent and blows up once every 3 plays
4. The receivers have no rhythm or ability to make any tight or contested catches.
So basically everything on offense has issues besides the runningbacks
Defense
1. They actually showed some ability to get some stops on Buffalo. 24 points is not a bad score total against that team and if you can hold them to that, you should be happy. Only 3 teams held them to less.
2. The good goes away fast as their were a bunch of complacent boneheaded plays where db's just stood around and watched a catch happen.
I found Ryan Fitzpatrick's take very interesting. He basically said "Patricia is calling plays Mac has had input on and told him he wants to run, and Patricia is just trying to figure it out as he goes along. Obviously it's not working out and Mac is getting frustrated. However, Bill sees Mac yelling at Patricia on the sideline blowing up on him - he may not be the QB for long doing that."
Yes, if Jones gets in fights with Patricia on the sidelines, Belichick is likely going to side with the coach no matter who is right. He won’t put up with that unless you are a Brady or one of his proven starters like a Bruschi, Law, McGinest, etc.
He isn't great but belichick didn't do him any favors with this offensive talent either. Jones is an average quarterback at best, the offensive line is a complete mess, the receivers are Jags and the running backs are hit or miss.
Without coaching we will suck. Better to go with Zappe next year and save cap space for 2024 . Absorb hits and release Henry and Jonnu for draft picks . Start the rebuild again and hire better coaches . If bill doesn't listen better to let go of bill a year or two early .
Agree, I have no faith Bill will do the right thing, for someone who has continually preached he’s going to do what’s best for the team, I no longer have faith in his decision making with the coaching staff or the roster, he needs to kick rocks as well.
This team will likely beat Arizona. The Raiders we should beat but that's 50/50 since we tend to suck against former coaches. The Bengals game we COULD win but we should be viewed as underdogs. We will lose to Buffalo and Miami unless they are locked into their spot and rest their players.
So I'm going to say we go 2-3 over the year and get to 8-9

Do people remember how when Brady was here if he struggled at the start of the game McDaniels would start calling some very simple out routes where Brady could get some rhythm with Edelman or Welker? Or how they knew when they needed to just let loose and let Brady just start slinging it. They knew when and how to establish the run to open up other stuff and they knew when to gameplan to be predominately against an opponents weakness.
None of that happens. Patricia is just calling plays that don't make sense. It looks like he feels like he NEEDS to call runs up the middle because he's like a kid who is taking a muliple choice test and answered C so many times that he thinks he should just circle another letter because he can't keep doing the same things. He doesn't know how to stick with what's working and kills drive. He clearly has no situational awareness at all. He gets the entire offense out of rhythm so they always feel like they are coming out cold for a drive.

um no, bill is .500 at best since Brady left. they're struggling because the head coach and gm picked horrible coaches, has missed more than hit on draft picks in the last 4-5 years, and it's clearly coaching like it's 1988 and he has Parcells on the sidelines with him.
