NFL QB Rankings (looking toward 2023)

Baltimore is currently 5th in points scored... is that bad?

I'll say this, Jackson's play has dipped significantly in the last 3 weeks, after having had a great start to the season. He needs to play much better again or Baltimore is screwed.
23.7ppg is not awful and 26ppg is certainly good. Just depends on your expectations are of him and how you evaluate him as a player.

If you look at how things are trending as a BAL fan or someone who thinks LJ is a point machine one has to be very concerned.

So far after 6 weeks the top 5 QBs have been

Allen/Mahomes/Hurts/Geno/and Burrow or Herbert whoever you like best. Jackson had a great stretch of 3 games but has failed in crunch time recently. That's not sign of an top 3-5 QB. Of course that can change theres a lot of football left to be played.

As I recall in some of the recent quarterback discussion topics there are a lot of Lamar Jackson deniers and nonbelievers here. He currently leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards by a mile and is 6th in the NFL overall. Leads the NFL in passing TDs, TD% and passer rating. Looks a lot like himself from his MVP season. It's only week 4 but there's no reason to believe he'll slow down much.

My updated top 10 QB rankings (previous ranking):

01. Josh Allen (1)
02. Patrick Mahomes (2)
03. Lamar Jackson (10)
04. Justin Herbert (5)
05. Tom Brady (3)
06. Aaron Rodgers (4)
07. Deshaun Watson (6)
08. Joe Burrow (7)
09. Jalen Hurts (21)
10. Tua Tagovailoa (27)

Dropping out of the top 10: Russell Wilson (8) and Kyler Murray (9)
Pretty high for a running back

Currently Lamar is...

19th in passing yards

5th in rushing yards

6th in Combined passing and rushing yards

3rd in total TD's

Tied for 3rd in INT

5th in QBR

10th in Passer Rating

Here's an updated list of QB Rankings for the 2022 Season

Lots of movement but as a reminder it's not solely based on the 2022 season. I'm considering prior performance (rolling two-year period) with greater weight on recent games and projections for future production (stats, wins, importance to team).

As I'm updating this list I'm realizing just how bad quarterback play has been this season on the whole.

Is this your opinion or did you find this ranking somewhere? Please post the source.

Watson at number 10 without playing a snap and Dak at 14 with only one game played and he was awful. Something is not right here.

It's my ranking.

As I said it's a two-year rolling period so it goes back to the 2020 season when statistically Watson was close to being the best quarterback in the league. The rest is based on projection. I think people have forgotten just how good a quarterback that Watson is. I considered having him exempt from the list until he's off suspension, which I think I'll do with the next update.

Dak is pretty low considering his talent. I'm not sure who you would move ahead of him. There's really a lot of trash in the bottom half of the list... it's not easy ranking uninspiring below average quarterbacks.

Geno Smith needs to be ahead of Zappe. He's been great over the 2 year period, including last year. Zappe has played 2 games over 2 years.

Zappe is in great company there. Out of the top 20 QBs only Jimmy 2nd round, Wilson 3rd, Zappe 4th, Brady 6th were not 1st round picks.

75% - 3 QBs Jimmy. Wilson, Brady were in Super Bowls.

50% - Wilson and Brady won a Super Bowl.

Maybe Zappe is for real and maybe he isnt. Through these last 3 games he sure has handled himself well. I would love to see him start vs the Bills to get a better picture of just how good or bad he is. If Zappe does start again on MNF, the Bears have a good enough pass defense to give Zappe problems. Lets see how he handles it?

Geno Smith has been a top 5 QB this season if you're basing it of this year alone.

Geno Smith needs to be ahead of Zappe. He's been great over the 2 year period, including last year. Zappe has played 2 games over 2 years.
I don't disagree with this. Although, I'm still hesitant to believe Geno can up the pace for a full season as a starter. If he can then he'll be a major comeback story... he was hanging onto his NFL career by a thread heading into last season. As for Zappe, until he shows me otherwise, I'm assuming he still has a lot of upside.

Geno was great last year when he played as well. I tend to think what were seeing isn't a total fluke. I think Zappe has more of a chance of coming back down to earth a bit considering he's only played a few games.

It's never easy making a QB list as everyone has their own thoughts and opinions.

Lamar only has 377 more total yards then Daniel Jones after 7 weeks.

Maybe he should have signed that contract after all. The more weeks that go by the worse it gets.

can't wait to see @crawhammer 's updated list and where Brady is...I would say he dropped down into the top 15
Evans didn't do Tom any favors yesterday. That TB team is messed up.

Harbaugh went with a very conservative game plan yesterday.

So now you are stalking me...

Evans didn't do Tom any favors yesterday. That TB team is messed up.

Evans drop was bad, but I saw highlights of Brady throwing the ball numerous times into the dirt. He doesn't look all-in right now. I'm guessing that when he un-retired, he was expecting Gronk to come back with him. As soon as he found out Gronk was retiring, the light went out.
